  • In Episode 6 of The Odyssey of Jerry Garcia, join Bay Area Babylon as Lucky gets an inside look at the former Magoo's Pizza, a small venue in Menlo Park, California, where on May 5, 1965 The Warlocks, who would later achieve worldwide fame as the Grateful Dead, played their first show ever! The atmosphere was electric as the band members-Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, Dana Morgan Jr., and Bill Kreutzmann-took the stage, eager to share their eclectic blend of rock, blues, and folk. Despite the modest setting, the crowd was captivated by the Warlocks' raw energy and innovative sound. This historic performance at Magoo's set the stage for the Warlocks' transformation into the Grateful Dead and their subsequent rise to become one of the most influential bands in rock history.
The video is about Inside the Grateful Dead's First Performance (The Warlocks): Magoo's Pizza in Menlo Park but also tries to cover the following subjects:
    Early Rock Band Origins
    Historic Music Venues
    First Concert Experiences

Thank you so much. That means a lot! Yes, it was an experience of a lifetime getting to go inside. We are thrilled that the new restaurant opening there (Bar Loretta) will preserve it's Grateful Dead history!
