Gonna have to add the Coast v Coast for this list in the future lmao. Well done H, ya may not have given us many surprises, but ya booked an awesome final 2.
I don't know if it could any earlier to be honest... 1991: Hogan politics. 1992: Flair for the gold 1993: Taker was being used as big man fodder and Yoko was being positioned to take out Bret and put over Hogan 1994: Injured, so had to be written out to Yoko 1995: The Kliq was in Vince's ear 1996: Ditto. And Taker was gearing up to fight Diesel which was a 'dream match' for someone like Vince 1997: This is the year he could have realistically been put forward for it and I'd say I'm surprised he didn't but the booking was all over the place anyway 1998: He was amidst the Kane feud and didn't need to win the Rumble where Austin really did 1999: McMahon ego was running wild. And he was injured IIRC. 2000: Injured. 2001: Needed to be Rock vs. Austin so Austin needed to win it realistically. And Austin was still massively popular. Best to reap it before the heel turn. 2002: HHH's ego push had begun although we weren't to know how bad it was gonna be. 2003: I can't remember why he couldn't this year. 2004: Injured. 2005-2006: Very possible as Taker had risen up to fill the post Austin / Rock void on Smackdown but it wasn't long at that point. He might have been injured in 2006, I can't remember... My point is, he sort of always had a reason not to and it's only the last couple of years he might have been able to.
@@tomaspolich1220 Ah and you actually make the point yourself why he couldn't have done it that year. Lesnar was THE Next Big Thing. And whilst Angle / Taker would have been a good main event, by then we'd already seen it. Brock vs. Angle though, at that stage, was a dream match. I mean with all of these he could have won it of course but there always seemed to be something else going on for him. I wonder why they thought 2007 was the time though? HBK would arguably have been a slightly better choice. But don't get me wrong. I preferred Taker to get it. My all time GOAT!
From a personal perspective, for me it's Drew/Roman from 2020. I get that few people will agree, but it created my favourite moment in wrestling history: my fiancee and I were watching live, when my fiancée's dad came in to complain that we were being too loud. I turned to him and said "look, your dad is right, it's late and Roman is winning, let's just finish it and go to bed." We hit play, and less than a second later Drew nailed Roman with a claymore and tossed him out. I was stunned, and then I cried, and I'm not ashamed of that.
ME TOO, LOL. I didn't enjoy this finish as much as I should have because the whole time, I was just thinking, "Roman's winning let me get to bed," until suddenly, the claymore hit. Roman's been the last eliminated guy 3 times already before this moment so it was a great swerve to keep him with Drew.
@@jamiekoh6113 I was exactly the same! I kept thinking "Drew has had his moment knocking Brock out of the match, let's just wind up to the finish and let Roman win. When Drew tossed him out I could barely believe it.
Something you didn't mention about the roman vs shinsuke finish is that that rumble took place in philly in the same arena where Reigns got booed out of the building
The undertaker and Shawn Michaels being the last 2 in the rumble was perfect, The stakes were high, Because Undertaker has never won a royal rumble in his carrer at that point.
I think you low key actually have to include santino Marella and Del Rio depending on how you rate it. In terms of being this memorable thing that somehow caused so much joy briefly at just the thought of Santino winning and us ACTUALLY believing that it could have happened for santino, it deserves something.
One of th best rumble ends was the 2018 men with orton, cena, rey vs finn, roman, nakamura. Another one was 2001 just with the most star studded rumble since 1990. Taker, rock, kane, austin, big show returns, rikishi,a random return of haku(meng, and anybody remembers bod vs kishi and haku first blood)
Not sure if this list has been done before, but how about a "Best Road to Wrestlemania matches" Between the royal rumble and wrestlemania some matches can feel too predictable or boring because the fans have already figured out the rivalries for wrestlemania. Still are there some gem matches between the royal rumble and wrestlemania?
For ambrose v HHH i think people always forget ambrose was Intercontinental champion during the rumble so there was no way he was walking out with both belts that close to WM
KANE VS STONE COLD ROYAL RUMBLE 2001, BENOIT VS BIG SHOW ROYAL RUMBLE 2004, STONE COLD VS THE ROCK ROYAL RUMBLE 1998, TIRPLE H VS KURT ANGLE ROYAL RUMBLE 2002 AND THE ROCK VS BIG SHOW ROYAL RUMBLE 2000.
Yikes, how is Bianca. Vs Rhea from 2021 not on here? Docking points because it was an empty arena? That's literally my #2 finish of all time behind 2007. The mix of athleticism, excitement, and execution was so good.
A final 2 worth mentioning is Ripley v Belair. Especially since Charlotte flair was in the ring as the final 3 and there was that small fear that she might do back to back wins, instead running with 2 fresh and talented faces and the 2 deciding to settle in the ring instead of doing an apron slap around was an awesome moment
The best final 2 was Del Rio vs Santino Marella. Which quickly ended up with the worst winner in recent Rumbles winning it. Don't get me wrong, Santino had no business near the main event scene, but at the same time it was one of the few times that the tagline "anyone can win it" actually meant something. Plus there was so much you could do with Marella from there. You could even play into his original gimmick of Boris Alexiev by stringing in some vignettes of him training with Kozlov (Please forgive me if Kozlov was not around at that time, its been some time).
Bianca and Rhea deserve not just a spot, but a high spot on the list. I get that it was the pandemic era, but both of them going over and calling a temporary truce so they can both get back in was fantastic and with a full live crowd Bianca's win would have popped hard. Unfortunate that her win didn't get the live reason, still a brilliantly told moment in her career.
I literally came here to say this, more or less. Also, it's starting to feel more and more like that was both ladies' Batista/Cena '05 Rumble moment where you were basically looking at the rise of the next two top stars.
Trips/Ambrose was such a great piece of booking. Everyone was ready to beast Reigns out of the building, so getting rid of him before the final two meant the ending was genuinely tense. And if Trips had to win, giving Ambrose a serious-looking shot at winning the whole thing was a great way to keep the audience engaged right until the end.
2016 Dean Ambrose was the best version of him. He was at his hottest. I think he was even better than AEW Moxley. It’s too bad Vince dimmed his light so he can force Roman into the spotlight
Actually, if you check the Cena/Batista finish, while they both hit the ground at the same time, Cena's feet are in the air while Batista's are on the ground... So technically, by their own rules, Cena actually won the match
Ironically, the planned Hart/Luger spot was far clearer than that one too. They intentionally don't show the angle where they hit the floor, but you can see the way they're going that the taller Luger is definitely going to hit first.

If we start using logic and reasoning, how are we going to enjoy pro wrestling?
It is amazing that Taker's only Rumble win was in 2007. You would think it could come earlier but he won at that year.
I don't know if it could any earlier to be honest...
1991: Hogan politics.
1992: Flair for the gold
1993: Taker was being used as big man fodder and Yoko was being positioned to take out Bret and put over Hogan
1994: Injured, so had to be written out to Yoko
1995: The Kliq was in Vince's ear
1996: Ditto. And Taker was gearing up to fight Diesel which was a 'dream match' for someone like Vince
1997: This is the year he could have realistically been put forward for it and I'd say I'm surprised he didn't but the booking was all over the place anyway
1998: He was amidst the Kane feud and didn't need to win the Rumble where Austin really did
1999: McMahon ego was running wild.
@@JeremiahEcks777 wow pretty good analysis, also in 2003 Taker was in the final 2, only to be eliminated by Lesnar
Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair was amazing!
You are yesssh u are
I just wish i can get Adam on every partsfunknown video the guy's awesome
Damn it that AJ vs Nakamura in WM still hurts and a lot give the circumstances and tension we went on the rumble 😢
2023 Men's would be in this list.
Something you didn't mention about the roman vs shinsuke finish is that that rumble took place in philly in the same arena where Reigns got booed out of the building
The hamilton reference for the hart vs luger pick made me happy
I have never been this early...ITS AWESOME!!! Happy New Year Parts Unknown family!!!! 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
"Left to their own devices indecisive from crisis to crisis" I'm a general! WEE!
2004: The Big Show was all alone in the ring until he clumsily fell over the top rope and eliminated himself.
The undertaker and Shawn Michaels being the last 2 in the rumble was perfect, The stakes were high, Because Undertaker has never won a royal rumble in his carrer at that point.
plus nobody had won from position 30 until that point. So undertaker became the first one to do that.
I think you low key actually have to include santino Marella and Del Rio depending on how you rate it.
In terms of being this memorable thing that somehow caused so much joy briefly at just the thought of Santino winning and us ACTUALLY believing that it could have happened for santino, it deserves something.
1:50 Wrestletalk: come for the wrestling, stay for the classic literature references
Nakamura's victory was all the better in my opinion because the final three was him reigns and Cena.
Reigns v McIntyre Is An Underrated Rumble final 2 and Cena v Batista is my fav final 2
Great list idea
Would love to see Adam and the other guys re-watch the 2015 royal rumble
One of th best rumble ends was the 2018 men with orton, cena, rey vs finn, roman, nakamura. Another one was 2001 just with the most star studded rumble since 1990. Taker, rock, kane, austin, big show returns, rikishi,a random return of haku(meng, and anybody remembers bod vs kishi and haku first blood)
What a way to start off the year!!
Not sure if this list has been done before, but how about a "Best Road to Wrestlemania matches"
Between the royal rumble and wrestlemania some matches can feel too predictable or boring because the fans have already figured out the rivalries for wrestlemania. Still are there some gem matches between the royal rumble and wrestlemania?
My best picks would be NWO vs Rock and Austin, Cena Vs Punk on Raw 2013 and Shield vs Wyatts at EC 2014.
You could Add Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER from this year.
Wonderful Hamilton reference sir
You should make a best first twos in the Rumbles.
Gotta Add Cody and GUNTHER to this list
For ambrose v HHH i think people always forget ambrose was Intercontinental champion during the rumble so there was no way he was walking out with both belts that close to WM
Few things are funnier to me than Vince blowing both his quads and barking orders while sitting in the ring like nothings wrong
Have you ever done a 10 best starting two in the Royal rumble list? If not, I think that would be a good one.
Now add Walter and Cody rhodes, soo good and Walter is god of inflicting pain.
Sheamus vs Jericho is a classic
2007 was the first Royal Rumble I ever watched. What a treat I got for the final 2
The 95 Rumble being so short isn't one of the reasons its bad, its one of the reasons its not worse!
2020 Womens Rumble is lowkey in my top 5 of all-time.
It's a call back to the year earlier at NXT.
The bit of McMahaon being so exited that he broke his own legsat the rumble😂😂😂😂😂
#1 is taker vs Michaels 2007. Their mini match inside the RR match
Edit: yeah we did know it would be #1
The best final 2 was Del Rio vs Santino Marella.
To this day the one conspiracy theory I 100% believe in is that Batista and Cena HAD to be a work. Its just too god damn perfect 😂
I was sure it would be on the list somewhere
🎵Washington cannot be left alone to his devices. Indecisive from crisis to crisis🎵
I love Blampied so much.
That Hamilton line!!!!
one of the best royal rumble endings was randy vs roman at 2017
The 2018 RR match was just amazing. Top 5 in my opinion
🤣
@@johnaustin209nah he’s right
@@SxnhsV2 Nobody asked you.
@@johnaustin209 nobody asked you either yet you replied in the first place :)
@@SxnhsV2 GFY smartass.
I appreciate the Hamilton reference
Gunther Cody in the top 3 now
Undertaker was also the 1st man to win the rumble entering #30 !!!!💙🐢
Actually, if you check the Cena/Batista finish, while they both hit the ground at the same time, Cena's feet are in the air while Batista's are on the ground... So technically, by their own rules, Cena actually won the match
Ironically, the planned Hart/Luger spot was far clearer than that one too. They intentionally don't show the angle where they hit the floor, but you can see the way they're going that the taller Luger is definitely going to hit first.
2007 had us all our feet because we thought we were finally going to see Undertaker win one but knowing WWE, it wasn’t a 100% sure thing.
Its the season to be greasin'
Anytime I hear 2015 Royal Rumble I’m reminded that’s when I stopped watching WWE and never looked back.
First!
PFK content of the year!
List idea: 10 Rumble Winners who failed to main event WM
Rock at Mania 2000, Cena in 08, Orton in 09, Asuka and Nakamura 2018, Edge in 2021!
