Shockmaster having a horrible debut absolutely SAVED his career in the long run. That dude has a place at starcast and wrestlecons for life now because, far more so than he would have gotten anything as Tugboat or Typhoon. Shockmaster though? Up there with Mick Foley falling off HIAC in terms of clips that EVERYONE has seen. Even people who couldn't tell you who Vince McMahon or the Rock are, have seen the hilarious gif of the glittery stormtrooper falling on his ass.
If I could meet Shockmaster and get a photo, specifically with him wearing that helmet and the fur vest thing, I would pay any amount of money he asked. He's that iconic

#6 nicely encapsulates why I am, as a fan, genuinely proud of the Miz. He wanted to do the thing, and then he did the thing, in spectacular fashion. Never not a fan.
I'm a big, big fan of The Miz and Mike Mizanin. That season of _The Real World_ is the only one I watched so I saw the uncomfortable racial conversations he had with another housemate, a Black woman named Coral. By the end of the season they were good friends and apparently still keep in touch. You could tell his early unfortunate comments were the result of ignorance instead of malice and that he was actually a really good guy. I was surprised when he showed up in WWE (it was shown numerous times on _The Real World_ that he was a huge fan) and thought he had no chance. He stuck with it, got better and became one of the most consistent, reliable performers the company has had for a over a decade now. He's an 8 time IC champion, a 2 time WWE champion and main evented Wrestlemania. It's still kind of hard to believe that little dork from _The Real World_ will one day be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame with so many other all time greats because he absolutely deserves to be there.
When I was a kid, just getting into wrestling, I hated Daniel Bryan for the simple reason that I didn't like the "Yes!" chant, and I was too young (e.g. stupid beyond comprehension) to see a world-class performer when he was right in front of my eyes. A few years later, while we still thought that he was done for good, I finally saw the light, and oh boy, did I want to throttle my child self for not realizing just how good he was while he was still active. Then he came back to the ring, and my hatred for my younger self has... marginally abated. But at least I can watch him and Mox beat the shite out of people on the reg.
