Birch is very good firewood. Easy to split, burns very hot. Birch bark is excellent for getting a fire going.

Is it stuffy inside the cabin without a window?
A tree a day to keep a modest cabin or equivalent warm times ? How many world-wide?! We had the same arguments about the animals we have lost.

Have been enjoying your videos out in the bush. I have a question. I see many of you building cabins/huts/dugouts and all but who owns the land? Are there areas where anyone can build or how is it done? I am in Western Canada and we have much similar lands and climate.
Another question or 2. How often do you have to clean your chimney of soot and build up? Also, is that a ventilation pipe in that corner? Wondering how you handle that issue as you make your cabin better sealed.
This land can belong to both the state and private individuals. I clean the chimney very rarely, once every six months. There is a pipe in the corner to bring in fresh air
