You can increase (shaft) speed from any motor with gears. So that request is fulfilled already. You obviously have to sacrifice torque for that tho, so I guess what you really want is a higher Pmax (max Power, torque * angular velocity) from your motor. This is probably gonna be hard with just 6 serial AA batteries. And even if you would implement motors with more Pmax then the question is if you don't easily brake your Lego parts (gears, shafts, etc). Gear backlash we see within Lego gears does not help either keeping those gears alive with high Torques. Bigger sets already come with slip gears for those reasons. At the end of the day LEGO is a toy, and to be honest, from a engineering perspective they already do an amazing job for a damn toy! Including there PU/Control+ products. If you want "more and better", you have to replace plastic with metal. Will it stay a toy at that point tho? And will it be safe enough to lay in a toy store? There comes way more into play than just 'give me more Pmax'.
@@RAiNfORAiNbOW no, like for the cars and vehicles meant for driving around. It would’ve hurt to have them go a little faster like modern RC car speeds

Love your honest reviews, after the gear swap in the extreme 4x4 I found it a lot more enjoyable to drive around and play with and reasonably capable, sure the sets are a little expensive but I really enjoy the builds and playing afterwards, I’m looking forward to adding the Mercedes to my collection and fitting the 4x4 extreme wheels to it, I’m sure there will be some great MOCS to come from the Mercedes too.
Since you add your voiceovers it adds so much to the videos and I'm noticing you're much more comfortable in front of the camera! And your speaking also much more enthusiastic now I really love it!! Btw, it would be interesting if you mod the zetros for speed (sacrificing torque) for people who just wanna see truck go whoosh
Great video, all 3 sets have their pros and cons, but for me, the price is a bit high for what they are, I'm looking for a RC crawler, so that makes sense. I just can't justify buying either of these for crawling (but they aren't really meant to do serious crawling..) when I can get much better RC crawlers for the same price or less, like the Recat Everest ($170, 1/10th), and stuff from Axial, Traxxas, ect.
I still think that Zetros has a better playability than the Volvo, but looking at it, I just don’t get it, where the 2k pieces go. The Volvo just looks bigger and better, and more like a 250$ set, that Zetros a 300$ one.

Now that we're talking about the differences between a construction vehicle and a trial truck: I think the planetary wheel hubs would have been a better fit in the Volvo. A large, heavy, slow truck that doesn't need a lot of ground clearance. And the Zetros should have been fitted with portal hubs.
To be honest, had the Xtreme off roader been built AS AN OFF ROAD truck properly, better ground clearance and both XL motors driving 1 drive train that connects to all 4 tyres (not 2 motor's driving the front and rear independently) it could be an excellent off road truck although the price is still a little high
You are right in comparing the offroader and trial truck for similar purposes, while the Volvo is a construction machine. So offroad capabilities or other functions are not comparable. But within the Lego world we can and have to compare prices for how many parts, functions and power components we get. We CAN compare in terms of design, functions and parts count versus price a Saturn V to a modular building, to a Technic Set and so on. Regarding this the offroader is probably the worst deal! But compared to the Volvo the Zetros is also a bad deal. Parts count and C+ units are of similar value between the Volvo and the Zetros. Yes the Zetros has four motors, but the Volvo has an Xl , a L and an angular versus the 3L and one M. And these motors are very cheap to produce anyway, I can buy a better electric motor for five bucks in any hardware store! Still the Zetros is 20% more expensive! 20% inflation in one year!??? I bought my Volvo for 175 Euro, which is about minus 30% of the list price. I don´t think we will regularly see the Zetros for less than 200,-
You are free to compare whatever you feel like, but you definitely don't *have to* do it this or that way. Remember, what might be important for you is not that important for others. What if someone wants PU parts but does not need all those yellow panels, is the Volvo still a better deal? An d of course you'll be able to buy the Zetros for a much better price in a few months, LEGO sets are never sold at RRP.
Small tires and bad clearance, i think its not a good offroader. They would made some civil truck with the Zetros and include a crane or something like the Unimog. It seems that it is about to finish...
There are no Mercedes excavators -> Volvo wins. I just don't get the price tag for the zetros, I was never going to get it when it first came out because of the price and to be honest I was quite disappointed with the look of it, it's now got quite a hefty price cut but it needs comes down to £140 before I'd consider buying it.
I have 2 Volvos (one for the b set) and 2 Zetros which I haven't even built yet. The volvo haulers are supposed to do hauling in rough conditions so I wish it had a bit more torque and offroad capability. It doesn't need to have the same capability as the zetros but some so it can work in a simulated mine or something. Also the volvo is so slow that it's almost irritating. That said, the Zetros aren't very interesting to me so I'll take the volvo.
I prefer Zetros 42129 a great deal. I loaded a 9 (nine!) kilos loas on its deck and it runs on as if nothing happened, a great surprise for me! Don't think volvo is able to do something like that.
