@tylersfarms That is a 1912 model. It's a transition tractor built between the end of the 45hp and 60hp Mogul tractors. Some parts have the later 30-60 part numbers.
When I was a kid our neighbor started his old B JD but forgot to take the bean can off the exhaust--ended up with 3 stitches in his head when he also forgot to look where it was coming down---ouch!!
IronMan.......first starts are always a little nerve wracking.......but we minimize stuff that can go wrong by belting up first and checking for governor action and such. The MAIN thing to know BEFORE starting is......how to shut it down!
They really aren't much being dedicated, air cooled, engines. They were made removable for other uses around the farms when not needed for starting the tractors but I've never seen any examples of that being done. As you might have noticed it runs backward from most other engines. Is has spark ignition provided by a battery and buzz coil. The main bearings are greased. I don't know what else to tell you. If there is something specific please ask again..... :)
The make or what is it? The pony is the little engine turning over the big engine. It's a proprietary engine built by IHC used on a number of their bigger tractors.
Loose parts isn't the word for it douro20. There is much more about that Mogul at my website: andersonofrosholt where I have a page dedicated to it. This stupid thing won't let me paste a hot link........GRRRRRRR
That sound is just AWESOME!
Could hear it the whole day...want one!
That was the real deal too. A little fine tuning and a good glug of priming gas to the rear cylinder makes it a real easy starter.

Very frightening... but beautiful in a sense. =]

Scarey...don't know if I would want to be next to that beast when it decided to wake up for the first time...LOL

Getting the cover off the stack would have been a good thing to do before starting. That guy climbing made me nervous.

LOL Gustavo.......yes it CAN be a puta (bitch) but remember this engine was still new to all of us.

i'm passionate of this, i know to work well and I even look for work in this domain.
I know how to work professional.
What engine does that thing have?!
A big one...
I'm pretty sure it would be an IHC Mogul, twin cylinder opposed engine.
Wasn't this thing built up almost entirely of loose parts?
Everything except the frame and rear axle assembly.
whats the pony engine?

Hit and miss starting engine...
