We're stoked to have Lost Dog Street Band debut on our channel.
We were instant fans when we saw the video of Benjamin Tod train-hopping through Wyoming and playing his infamous rendition of Steve Earle's "The Mountain" on the steps of the state capitol. It's a banger or a video and you can check it out at our amigos in cinema's channel GemsOnVHS. Link here - Benjamin Tod "The Mountain" : tinyurl.com/5x...
Ben, Ashley Mae and Jeff Loops visited us earlier this year at WAF HQ in WY for a couple of shoots. Never thought in a thousand years we get the opportunity to shoot with them on our home turf. We knew Ben would have some stories to tell about our area during his train-hopping days. Enjoyed getting to hear him from the man myself about those times.
LDSB is a great project that is meaningfully rich and original with their tunes. Seems we always get sucked into their stories about life, hardship and the battle with ourselves. In that, we think they are perfect to reflect the attitude which is Western AF.
We really enjoyed making these vids surrounded by friends old and new. Can't wait to show ya the rest of the vids.

I always feel kind of bad with the way Ashley Mae's part in this music seems to be overlooked. Ben's songwriting is incredible. Ashley's fiddle playing is also incredible. Simultaneously precise and organic. It wouldn't be the same without her. I don't know the bass guy's story, but he seems like no slouch either.

This line: "With a spade I dug my grave into perdition's tomb" . . . There is a savage grace at work in one who can sink below the lowest depth of hell and come back with such a cautionary diamond, and then to pair that with musicians who can craft a tune to which you can so easily tap your feet -- nothing that marries the tragic and beautiful more than that. Thank you guys for somehow pulling it off once again.

I stand before a trial I will lose
I drink it clear to see my future through
The nectar I began to weep when I was just a youth
Mother pled with me to abstain
That temptress of the desert Agave
And I stumbled down the empty avenue
If this is the bottom I fell through
With a spade I dug my grave and to perdition tomb
Mother pled with me to abstain

Love every single song they have and seeing this title Jalisco bloom I was like ay my parent birth state in Mexico and both side of my family that still live in Jalisco work in the agave fields and producing tequila and this song brought memories of my grandpa telling me stories of his dad producing tequila illegally in a time that hard liquor and alcohol was outlawed even in Mexico and telling me when his mom hid him and his brothers when the military would go and check or go cause some one ratted his dad out and the military dragged him out of there house and beat him in the streets of there town to show to others who tried to produce tequila that they too will suffer the same fate but all in all very good good song

I love the mythology and archetypes in this song. Always beautiful even when we were just youths. This and odea, ballad of a broken man. This song feels like the footing those songs found. Like the tune found it's voice finally. It's hard to say goodbye forever to the vice. See you down the line seems easier.

What a fantastic fiddle solo. The screech at the end sent chills. Could really feel what she was trying to tell us. What an incredible group.
