Having Bob as the test record is simply the best...

Bob is seriously worn out by now though :D

Akai deck looks like a pretty good score. best in the bunch you dug it up along with.
those technics speakers looks like rebranded grundig speakers.

Agree. Most of it was 'meh'. But since these are taken out of an endless pile of random videos I just throw it all in the mix. And sometimes it's a bit underwhelming.

The Akai seems good, everything else will give a pass on.
Just got back into cassettes again and actually they sound better than I remember. I have been recording from digital sources onto them. I have some from the 1980s that were my dad's.

As for cassettes; If they don't sound as good as, or better than CD's you're doing it wrong :D.

@rollingtroll they seem to sound as good as CD to me, the ones I have recorded recently. I am really enjoying the sound of them and some of these are cassettes from the mid to late 80s.

@@AlexMitchell-sj4sb Prerecorded tapes are often really shit indeed, but the ones you record yourself should (and can) sound amazing. It's such an underrated medium. If you do it right, it's true audiophile spec audio. But people don't take it nearly serious enough.

@rollingtroll well I am astonished at how good they can sound and I am not using any high end tape deck, just a Technics one from the mid 80s. You are right, they sound better than the pre-recorded ones I still own.

@@AlexMitchell-sj4sb If your cd-player is of the same 'level' it's probably still going to sound similarly good. Technics is not the way I'd go for 'bang for the buck cassette decks' (Aiwa or JVC all the way) but it could be worse, of course :)
