You can run full Astra hubs on a Combo/Corsa C. I did that on my Z20LET Combo. It all bolts up if you use the right bits. Running Astra hubs is better and safer as there are no conversion hubs required, only stock parts. The you can also use Astra coilovers for the front, Astra brakes etc.
can also run Meriva 1.7 cdti hubs/knuckles for 5 stud and use corsa coilovers. The 1.7 cdti hubs are suited for f23 and have the same strut mounting as corsa C where as astra is wider. Running the astra ones is a cheap way to get it running, abs and speed sensor loom need modding to run astra hubs, ball joint from astra, tie rod needs modifying to put the astra tie rod end on and the speed sensor doesn't read correctly on the astra setup. Also means you have to run a mix-match of suspension with the astra setup.
@@TheVerseCity No you can run all Astra running gear without issues and without mixing and matching. Speed reads correctly to. Only have to solder the ABS loom. You can use a factory tie rod end to if you know which one to use. At 100kmh on the speedo the GPS reads 97. So same as per factory. The ABS works fine too with Astra hubs on the Combo.
@@jorritkooistra1624 No, I didn't say you cant run the astra running gear, but most people dont wany mismatched suspension... You have to use astra tie rod end and astra ball joint if you dont want to bodge it on.
@@TheVerseCity No bodging required, there are factory parts available that bolt straight in. And its not mismatched as I already mentioned its all Astra running gear. As per factory, bolts straight on
Hi, I want to do this conversion to my combo, what parts are needed to make astra knuckles fit?
Fuel lines on the rail should be piped up the other way round. Return to to tank is the one with the steel pipe on already(fuel ref side of the rail. And feed is the other one that goes straight in to the fuel rail.
Use the 1.7 cdti knuckles with cavalier bearing and hubs, straight fit if zero machined parts that weaken the hubs, If you google "corsa c rally hubs" I wrote a how to a few years ago with part numbers etc

The hubs are cav hubs what have been machined down by a company in Leicestershire, the proper way to go is 1.7cdti knuckles which fit the bigger cav bearings and hubs. The conversion hubs are cav hubs what have the large 2.0 driveshaft splines but have been machined down to fit a standard corsa wheel bearing and knuckle, they’re pretty dangerous as the thinner part snaps when the wheel bearing starts to go.

Nice video, I’ve heard the corsa c / combo 1.7 diesel hubs are a direct fit to the driveshafts as well, I’ve got a combo c Petrol here that I’m converting!

Great video mate very informative. I've had a 1ltr for years and I'm just now starting to think of doing something silly with it. What are your thoughts on the Z20LET vs B204 debate? I've heard the Z20LET is the more expensive route but the B204 is just as rewarding getting up to 350bhp from a stock engine with a turbo upgrade. Cheers.

Have you got a guide for a conversation on a 1.7cdti ? It seems alot of the parts are from a 1.7 so wasnt sure if that would be easier. Using 1.7 box and hubs and stuff
Chnage the fuel tank to a petrol tank the diesel plug should plug straight into the petrol pump no problem
Chnage the fuel lines to a petrol lines
Then you just need to fit a z20 engine as you should already have a f23 gearbox
Use the z20 ecu, key chip and transponder
All the gearbox related stuff is already there hubs shafts ect so that's all fine its just the engine use the 1.7 starter motor alternator cable to the battery on the z20 engine other then that the guide is the same

U can run 4 stud meriva hubs,f23 box out meriva,with meriva shafts all fits proper

@mikechapman8810 Hi if you have the corsa with the z12 or z10 xep you just need to use the standard corsa starter motor and alternator part of the loom the rest of the car is just the standard z20 loom
@@Zoomb1kes ok thanks you! at the time I swapped a z20 for a 1.8 gsi and the original accelerator pedal didn't work but suddenly with the 1l and 1.2l it's easier

Amazing video really helpful thankyou. Can I ask where you got your handbrake cables from for the SRI rear disc.conversion? Almost impossible it seems as dual lines wont fit centre section for 1.7 di diesel conversion. Many thanks.
I use the 1.8 Sri hand brake cable
@@Zoomb1kes Ive got an early 2002 1.7 di Corsa and the handbrake brackets on the actual car are different its seems. Axles set up superb though. Many thanks.

Do the Astra gsi drive shafts work for the Z20let and f23 with the hubs u mentioned ?
Hey great video, I'm thinking about doing this conversion to a 1.4 petrol combo, do you know if zafira gsi parts can be used instead of astra ones? If they'll fit the same then I might buy a complete car so I get everything in one package, astra gsi's are harder to find and more pricey, thanks
Is there any wiring needing or is plug and play with the 1.0 or 1.2 dash looms ?
You plug the standard 2.0 loom Into the standard 1.0 / 1.2 ecu then it would require a map to make it run
Mine is corsa c 1.2 75hp, and almost of the people told me with this engine you can't do anything, that mean i must change the whole engine if i want to do 200hp for example ?
Obviously a 1.2 pushing 75 will need swapped or turboed if you want more power

Once the ecu is mapped it will work
Im searching someone who knows what you need to swap a Z20LET in a astra g ! Do u know by any chance?! I was think to but a zafira to swap everything over but idk if u can use the engine mounts and harness
I don't know 100% but as far as I'm aware the fuel return lines would already be there and hubs won't need to be changed I could be wrong but it's just swapping the engine over with the original z20let mounts but get a z20let ecu with transponder ect
You said Z20LET Driveshafts, noe just to make sure. I’m buying a Z20LET + F23 out of a Zafira, comes with driveshafts so i can just use these? I thought i needed driveshafts out of a astra
It doesn't matter the zafira gearbox has a longer 5th gear but is the same gearbox but the driveshafts are the same for the f23

I got a qeustion , I build in a z20let in my 1.6 . I bought engine bay loom , internal loom , all wiring is now z20let inside and out . engine is in . But now my starter motor wont even turn when i turn the ignition switch . i litterlay converted everything i can . when i hook the starter up the battery it works . so its not the starter . and my electric windows stopped working for some reason . im fucked ....
When you turn the key are you getting power to the relay ?
@@Zoomb1kes i tested the starter motor striaght on the battery with a separate wire , it would spin without expanding the Gear ( they do that with only power ) . My Friend would sit in the car turn the key so the extender pushed the Gear into the flywheel . Then it cranked ... Possible i bought a bad loom for under the Hood ?

Does this also apply to the 1.8 Z18XE GSI/SRI ? I was wondering what would be more rewarding. Turboing the 1.8 for abot 4000 Euros at Dbilas Dynamics, or buy a good Z20LET for about 3000 Euros, plus all the other stuff. Moneywise, it would make no difference, but I think a Z18XE Turbo would be more genuine, as it came with the sporty GSI version. But a Z20LET would be cool for getting more power. Im kinda unsure.

Just go for the Dbilas inlet mani for Z18 and remap, then spend the savings on handling parts and trackdays. You'll get 160 reliable NA horses.

Basically I have a corsa c van 1.7di Isuzu and have bought a zafira with z20leh all running nice car. With the plan on having a rapid work van like in the rs turbo fiesta vans back in the day.

As far as I'm aware you can run the f23 box on that engine it's just a different engine mount and different ecu
Thanks for getting back to me so many people claim to know but seeing your work I can tell you know what your talking about. I've got the complete vxr to use as a donor. Just wanted to be sure before I rip it to pieces
I'm 90% sure because the 16ler has a m32 box 6 speed and the z20let/leh is the same gearbox and you can change the box to a f23 5 speed you just need to change the flywheel and clutch kit so if that can be changed the block set up on the ler must be the same sort of set up just needs the let ecu or of its a 1.2 corsa you can probably use the same ecu just need a let map
And use the ler engine mount everything else will be the same on the video

You would have most of it tbf it's just the rear gearbox mount you need

How much would you charge for this conversion? Been wanting to z20 or 1.8 mine. But no room in my workshop due to all the minis. No room to do a conversion

@@mwpriem diesel ratios are longer than the petrol ones, the Astra GSI one is often thought to be the best ratio and is the one in using, zafira gsi has the shortest ratio but a lot of people use the diesel ones as they’re a bit cheaper, and the ratios won’t make a massive difference in a small light car with the power from the z20 engine. The only f23 box you can’t use is the one from the z22se as it has a different bell housing
