Intrigued by this concept since seeing a few examples. I get wiring positives and negatives on the batteries and connecting to ports etc, but how do you charge it? Guessing the middle contact on the batteries are key but can someone advise so i dont end up building a one time use powerbank i cant recharge lol
the middle connection is for temperature reading. this powerbank charges via micro usb on the green main board
Professional dumbass here (take my words with a pallet full of salt)
you can take an old phone battery (3.7v-4.2v battery) and you can buy a power bank circuit that uses 3.7v battery.
Now with a multimeter find the positive and negative sides of the battery. I think the power bank circuit has symbols on the board indicating the positive and negative sides.
It's just as simple as connecting the positive to positive and negative to negative.
Tho this power bank is very bad, the battery is old and slow to charge and the power bank circuit could be bad and not charge your phone fast enough.
Try to find a power bank circuit that can provide 2.4A or 2A 5V USB output. As for the charging, the power bank circuit will always charge the battery in the same connections (5v to 4.2v)

hi. i hv connected these batteries at 2 quantities connected with parellel to my old powerbank. unfortunately, their bms'es probably triggered over discharge protection when I'm trying to charge my phone. checked with multimeter voltage gives 4.2v which is fully charged if I'm not mistaken. connected the phone and powerbank goes off instantly. i had to connect powerbank charger to activate the bms again.
it did not happen tho when the device I'm trying to charge consume current under 0.6 amps. did it happen on your end?
first of all I DON'T RECOMMEND connecting different batteries in parallel, anyway meaby the original battery bms is bad so try removing the battery bms and connect the battery directly to the power bank module.
Why rub out the mah on the battrey cos yav still left the amp hour which is still easy 2 work it out
