I could NEVER be an idol because I’m not the type to let things slide like that. I’d say something then get criticized for standing up for myself. Sulli was perfect the way she was and these people ruined her life
I love the story that Twice and Bang Chan have told about one of the times the girls were made to go on a strict diet. JYP idols had a limited number of cafeteria passes at the time, which were monitored when they were on diets. Bang Chan was worried for them and gave them his cafeteria passes so they could eat a good meal without getting in trouble, and then he was called to talk to managers because of so many uses in his name at once. He took the blame and straight up said that he had actually eaten that much food in one go! 😆
Thanks for helping shine a light on the unhealthy beauty standards of the industry. And yes, Hwasa is amazing. Setting an example for a new generation that what we idolize should be the best version of ourselves, instead trying to be something we're not.
Actually, PSY made that song for her. She was saying she had some media thing happen to her again (like the media like to attack her for the most random-est thing) and she was feeling very low. But then PSY sent her that demo, to listen to, and she couldn't stop laughing so she was like she had to make this song happen.
I remember losing 30kgs after getting into Kpop. Only eating 2 fruits a day. I was sick all the time. My skin was terrible and I was constantly tired. Watching them does honestly have an impact on how you see yourself. Would not recommend trying their harmful diets!!!

As a fan of Purple kiss I am so happy that Swan did not lose her weight. She is as healthy as when she debuted in 2023. And please check out them her voice is one of the most unique in kpop.
I think the worst recent cases of bodyshaming on a large scale were against IVE’s Liz and Rei. They got so much hate online, their weight gain became media headlines, their own company gave them hardly any lines or time in the MVs in two comebacks until they started losing weight. Even now, Rei’s outfits are noticeably different from the other girls, with things like big bows covering her stomach.
Starship's treatment of those LITERAL CHILDREN in IVE is disgusting. What they've done would constitute abuse in the west, especially looking at Wonyoung now versus in iZ*One.
im not an ive stan but i never knew rei had it bad. I always thought she was one of the popular members that everyone loved IVE and aespa seem to get the most hate. Giselle and ningning cant get a break either, poor girls
saying '"she looks way better" once she gains weight is the same thing as saying "she looks way better" after she loses weight. This double standard is crazy, and body shaming too. Also doctors have said countless times that trying to gain weight is harder than trying to lose it, yet somehow, everyone defend people trying to lose weight by saying it's not easy, but no one defend us from the body shaming even though we're also struggling to be healthy. Why is that.
Tbh it different from person to person, some gain/lose weight easier, some harder, but still the standard in Korea is too much, and the diets they do to lose weight, are super unstable to have
I mean take Wonyoung she lost so much weight and you could see her bones it was scary. The. She gained some weight back people praised her because she looked healthier and fans wanted the best.
The wording might not have been the best but it just means that she looks healthier. Also personally, I don’t know any women who think losing weight is easier than gaining weight. Of course it depends on genetics, but women tend to hold onto body fat which means it’s often easier to gain weight. I agree that skinny people shouldn’t be shamed either for not being able to gain weight but it’s important to note that this double standard still caters to thinner people because of beauty standards, and fatter women usually get the most hate. Again, we really shouldn’t compare but in a society that benefits thinner women, it’s kind of hard not to.
I love hwasa.. i love her confident.. i love her brain.. she is an amazing artist.. thank you ben for react to this video especially hwasa part... love you ben ❤
I have personally seen young people, both male and female being hospitalized because of body shaming, some even took their own lives. The mindset of people need to change if we want a healthy society. I went through school being mocked about my size, my bones are not the smallest so I am not petite or small. Please let us raise generations that are proud of themselves, no matter what they look like, if you are beautiful on the inside that should be enough. Thank you Ben for having your say in this, thank you Hwasa for giving those around you as well as those who follow you a chance to be who they need to be and not who everyone else wants them to be. YOU ARE NOT A FAN OF ANY IDOL GROUP IF YOU PUT THEM DOWN. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY, CLOSE YOUR MOUTH AND DON`T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!!!!!!!
In the most recent Human Idol Theater with Stray Kids one of the kids jokingly said that Changbin never would have been able to debut with the weight he’s gained. Which makes me suspect that they weighed the trainees at their monthly evaluations. These beauty standards are sick and the bullying even sicker. And as we could see with the guy in the audience, the bullys don’t exactly live up to their beauty standards themselves.
I think all idols are perfect and they don't need to change anything about themselves just because of a few people being negative . You should love yourself just the way you are . 💜💜💜💜💜
And jeongyeon during the feels era gained weight due to depression medication and she actually had to take hiatus during that time because of all the body shaming and go to therapy as well 😢😢😢😢
I was malnourished growing up because of neglect, so I was thin. I left home still not eating much with low self-esteem and even though I studied science, I also became a ballerina. There was pressure to be thin, stay thin, and there was fat shaming, I would get sick sometimes and get fat shamed usually for my thighs looking big. I’m probably your oldest viewer. I developed eating disorders and this year is the first time since then I’m told I no longer have disordered eating. It’s was over 40 years, most of it being overweight. Now my doctor says if i lose 10 pounds that’s enough. Freedom. finally. Im in the American generation of thigh gaps and “nothing tastes as good as an inch on the hips” or “you can never be too rich or too thin”. Those are etched in my head. I look at the “sexy” American celebrities of today and they just look fat to me, thicc looks fat, and i am fat. so im eating ok but i still can’t look in mirrors. 😂😂 Im typing this out to demonstrate that Ben is right. I’m 62 yo and this sh&$ doesn’t go away. you might think that size 8 girl is too big and call her a name now, but she’ll call herself that when she’s a size 18. just don’t hurt each other. it can happen to you.
I thought the body shaming/bullying was bad here in the US. Damn this is intense. I feel really bad for them, every single one of them look amazing. I love the positivity that comes out when you are reacting to the harsher videos.

The blond short hair girl is Amber from F(x), she is American/taiwan. and was the rapper in the group. Sulli that the guy said she can loose weight in her arms. She comitt suicide later after been bully in Internet R.I P Sulli
13:50 I literally had to take a break from anything k-pop related that wasn’t solely listening to music because of this. My mental health got so bad that my Tumblr got deleted/banned 😅
It's genuinely so toxic that really none of them are safe from body shaming. And it's so weird because nobody is perfect especially the fans like how about they step up on that stage and do what they do oh wait the can't so no room to judge
The goosebumps that came over my body at Hwasas' line...wow. Thank you Ben for being so real and explaining that this shit isn't healthy. K-pop stars are put under such horrible standards, diets, and comments and it's honestly just sad. Everysingle person that was shown in this video was beautiful and gorgeous just the way they were. And I'm not saying they weren't after changes, but it's sad they felt forced to become a new version of themselves because people are dicks....wow.
I really don't understand why Kpop fans/netizens want the adult idols to be the size of a 7 yr old. This combined with wanting these Adult idols to act aegyo. Poses and such that a little kid would do. If you want to see a little girl perform, watch sesame street or the mickey mouse club. If you want to see Women/Men perform, watch BP,BTS,TWICE,TXT,etc. Don't be telling these talented performers to look and act like a 7 yr old.
I can't agree more! There's something wrong when people expect young adults to behave like little children. It's obvious the idols dislike being forced into it. They need to be and look like healthy adults.
@@ciaclark1111 It actually strikes me as creepy. Seeing a male(18 + yrs old) asking for cutesy poses from an adult female idol or saying an idol looks so great now that she lost weight(the idol now looks like a skin covered walking stick,is the size of a 5/6/7 yr old) The gals hounding the idols to loose weight, when they're already tiny. Get over your own body issues. Stop making them pay for your BS.
Dude SIXTEEN was actually insane cause they actually fat shamed Jihyo the entire show not jsut that episode. Even other members mention and even joke about or critisize her directly about her weight. There is an interview style thing where members said good and bad things about other members and one of them literally says Jihyos only flaw is her personal care because she weighs too much :/ Her weight is literally a main topic in the show and almost got her eliminater more than once cause they told her it made her dancing and preforming look bad and less sharp because her round and soft figure :(
I always get blowback but I'm going to say it again...dressing these young women so suggestively even when they are underage contributes to the idiots on line thinking they can body shame them and treat them like objects. Appreciate their voices and talents, please. and Amber, you go girl! And Hwasa, you are a queen!
That’s why I love Hwasa!!!! She looks sooo dam good and she dgaf. It is really sad that these idols get body shamed for looking nearly perfect in my opinion. What a cruel industry.
You're always going to be too big or too small for someone so just be good with you bc you're the one that has to live with being you. Love yourself first and the rest will follow. But the funny thing is when I was younger, my initial reaction to any body criticism would be: "Well, who the F- k asked you?!" As I got older, my reaction is more along the lines of: "Well, don't look at me then. It's yo fault that you have a problem bc you're the one that keeps looking. Sounds like a personal problem to me." 🤣 But in either instant, I realized that I had self-confidence bc it didn't affect me at all. I just saw it as some d-bag just suddenly decide to attempt to ruin my mood. But the best response is always a scoff like "I KNOW you're not talking about looks." Do that while you staring them up and down, then walk away. Psychologically, you will mess with their confidence without really saying anything bad. Mind games = I win. But all jokes aside, just realize as much criticism one gets, you are still someone's ideal somewhere.
14:28 sorry from the heart of my bottom made me laugh 😂 but i digress, i loved this video! very important topic to touch upon. It just makes me scared for gen alpha growing up with all these different kinds of unattainable beauty standards must be so exhausting.
People seriously need to stop commenting on the idols weight, its extremely rude. All idols are gorgeous as they are, weather they have thick thighs or big arms, they are still beautiful, no matter what. I remember when Jeongyeon came back after a while and gained a little weight in i think 2021, a lot of people were hating the fact that she gained weight and its sad how much hate she got. She is an amazing and beautiful person. Even though she gained weight, she still looked AMAZING!
I hated when fans are very overeacted over kpop idols weight , plz dont say like thos or compared them , and dont look over their weight or beauty , look over their talents😊 whether they are ugly or beauty , their heart has a very soft spot for thein beloved fans😊
I love girls like Jeongyeon who is performing happily after gaining weight due to her sickness. The fact that she looks happier than ever and JYP has encouraged her is like a 'up yours' to the kpop idol standard. You go girl.
Sulli is a perfect example of how bad hate can seriously affect people. RIP sulli 🕊

0:38 THIS IS SO CRUEL - Can people please think before speaking, gestures & especially editing their photos

1:31 nah i wouldn't considered starvation as diet 😭😭
13:50 I literally had to take a break from anything k-pop related that wasn’t solely listening to music because of this. My mental health got so bad that my Tumblr got deleted/banned 😅
4:11 👏🙌 GOOD ON HIM
Bro I was js about to ask if you can react to idols being body shammed.😭🙏 you read my mind
It's genuinely so toxic that really none of them are safe from body shaming. And it's so weird because nobody is perfect especially the fans like how about they step up on that stage and do what they do oh wait the can't so no room to judge
Can we just take a moment
R.I.P Sulli
9:53 I think the girl that was protecting her is Amber right?
Yes
The goosebumps that came over my body at Hwasas' line...wow. Thank you Ben for being so real and explaining that this shit isn't healthy. K-pop stars are put under such horrible standards, diets, and comments and it's honestly just sad. Everysingle person that was shown in this video was beautiful and gorgeous just the way they were. And I'm not saying they weren't after changes, but it's sad they felt forced to become a new version of themselves because people are dicks....wow.
Bro...I have always prayed for having Hwasa's body🛐
the girl with a short blonde hair is amber she never hold back everytime she see a mistreatment. she's so kind and i love her
Ben in his active era
Seeing a male(18 + yrs old) asking for cutesy poses from an adult female idol or saying an idol looks so great now that she lost weight(the idol now looks like a skin covered walking stick,is the size of a 5/6/7 yr old)
The gals hounding the idols to loose weight, when they're already tiny. Get over your own body issues. Stop making them pay for your BS.
Dude SIXTEEN was actually insane cause they actually fat shamed Jihyo the entire show not jsut that episode. Even other members mention and even joke about or critisize her directly about her weight. There is an interview style thing where members said good and bad things about other members and one of them literally says Jihyos only flaw is her personal care because she weighs too much :/ Her weight is literally a main topic in the show and almost got her eliminater more than once cause they told her it made her dancing and preforming look bad and less sharp because her round and soft figure :(
Okay but what do they want?? They shame someone for losing weight and then shame another for gaining weight (?)
im petite too and i do get body shamed too but I like being petite
I always get blowback but I'm going to say it again...dressing these young women so suggestively even when they are underage contributes to the idiots on line thinking they can body shame them and treat them like objects. Appreciate their voices and talents, please.
and Amber, you go girl! And Hwasa, you are a queen!
You should check out cravity moments that every new luvity should know
That’s why I love Hwasa!!!! She looks sooo dam good and she dgaf. It is really sad that these idols get body shamed for looking nearly perfect in my opinion. What a cruel industry.
And those kpop idols are also never even medically overweight... People are calling healthy weight people ''overweight'' or ''fat'' which is sick.
I realize nothing thoes idols do for fans or the kpop industry matters thats why they should do what they want to do
Amber Liu!!!!! Way to stick up for fellow members. She's a badass
Exactly ben the audacity 🙂
This is crazy
I hated when fans are very overeacted over kpop idols weight , plz dont say like thos or compared them , and dont look over their weight or beauty , look over their talents😊 whether they are ugly or beauty , their heart has a very soft spot for thein beloved fans😊
Can you watch sunghoon and jay as tom and jerry in enhypen? Please hear me out😭
man this made me sad bro RIP Sulli like that was so fucked up
Hwasa inspired millions when saying that ❤❤❤❤❤
I love girls like Jeongyeon who is performing happily after gaining weight due to her sickness. The fact that she looks happier than ever and JYP has encouraged her is like a 'up yours' to the kpop idol standard. You go girl.
I love how you ranted for us like this is really ridiculous smh
People need to understand that being skinny or overweight isn't a bad thing, whats important is that we are healthy
Sulli...😭😭💔
OMG IU and all these girls look perfect to me
