    In response to Rslash comment about supporting spouses: there’s a huge difference between being supportive and being an enabler. If it’s come to the point where your spouse is taking advantage of you, you’re an enabler. If they’re dependents, then I’m guessing it’s more of a first come first served thing. But then why have a ticket?
    Seriously, if it’s a first come first served thing, and I’d been told that there were enough seats for us, I’d be really annoyed about that. But I wouldn’t be asking people to get out of their seats though.

    She was actually our dog trainer for the obedience classes and the people who brought their dogs to her absolutely loved her! Once the water police knocked on the door and tried to get the person to arrest friend. Anyway, friend asked the real police to show up at uncle's birthday party. Small town/suburb and knew the uncle. So the police showed up, fake arrested the Uncle, gave Uncle a ride in the police car, and just made his birthday. Sadly the uncle passed away last year.

So since he lives in India and the time zones for Aussie and India are different we usually arrive in India in 12 o’ clock around somewhere and it takes super long too take there. In the car are my cousins (only my sis cousins. My bro never comes cause he got strict sleeping time). So I go to their house around 2 and I sleep and the next I surprise him with myself. I remember seeing this family waving their arms behind him and the father approaching him like he wanted to punch the man. I ran in between them and stopped him seconds from attacking my coworker. Even after explaining to them, "he's not ignoring you, he's deaf!", they still said that "it doesn't matter, he still should respond when I talk to him." Like, HE CAN'T HEAR YOU! From the info I have gathered on the type of flight the OP was on, the military often books a whole plane with a airline or a private company to shuttle a large group of servicemen. The planes usually are not full, so the airline is allowed to book regular passengers traveling to one of the stops for free or a reduced price (some tickets get as low as $20). The screwed up part is that some airlines will overbook and sometimes double book seats and if that happens, the military personnel get priority. I wouldn’t call the woman a Karen, but I would say that the airline screwed her over.

      Okay so planes do have first come first serve seating but they also do have seats you can pay extra if you want to get two seat next to eachother. So the op clearly paid for the two seats for her and her toddler. These two veterans possibly had the an over booker error but I highly doubt that and i bet they chose those seats and didn't even think about if someone had paid for them. The plane ticket has the seat row and seat number so it is actually very hard to get it incorrect. It's very easy to tell which row and which seat is your so if op was telling the truth and it did have the seat printed on her ticket than those would have been her seats. And honestly I get her yelling. She's tierd she is traveling with a toddler which are not easy to travel with sometimes, she's finally on the plane to than see her seats are being taken by another person. She's than told there no other seats for her and her toddler so she's basically forced to try to get her originally seats back. And in all honestly I think it's completely rude for those two veterans to have seen a mother in need of help and not want to move to let her on the plane instead. If I were one of those guys I would have easily gotten up and apologized and just gotten a later flight. Especially when flying with a toddler it's hard and they need to be seated together. This mother felt that was being threatened so she went into mama bear mode. 🤷‍♀️ I personally don't think she's a Karen for fighting for her plane seats that she paid EXTRA for. To me, they just sounded exhausted and were in shock over being yelled at. When you're THAT tired, the brain doesn't process things at a reasonable rate and you wind up having VERY delayed reactions. I've been there. Not military, but I've definitely been so knackered that even being screamed at wasn't enough to prompt a proper reaction until almost half an hour later.
      Honestly, it sounds like this situation probably happened pretty quick. There would have been no chance for the servicemen to have reasonably responded when in a state of exhausted shock. The mother handled the situation in such a shitty way that she got kicked off for her blow-up, though the airline certainly had a heavy hand in causing the situation in the first place.

    • @stormwright8300

      It was definitely space available as this was a commercial flight that was probably contracted out to ferry military personnel. When they aren't full, others can fly space-a between enroute stops. Space-required people (deployed service members) take priority. Other people usually just put their names on a list and see if they get a flight but they are waitlisted and can be bumped at any time for military personnel. That's how the contract works.

    • @tekcomputers
      @tekcomputers 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that is abit of a problem with that last story.Details can clue you in on the fact this was a civilian airline flying a rotator contract, but you basically have to have extra information not in the story to get clued into it.
      The big clue is of course the flight was picking up at Rammstein, which isn't a civilian airport, but rather a USAF Base. But if you don't klnow what it can be easy to just think this is a normal civilian flight. Once you know that then you also need to sort of know how rotator flights work and the difference between mission and non-mission use and as such the difference between those who would be space-required and those travelling space available.
      If you are in a spot where you realize this is a rotator flight and how the rotator works the mother's entitlement is quite clear. But if you don't you will have a hard time judging it from a poing of thinking of the interaction in a mora normal civilian flight booking.

      That's Air Mobility Command's name for its commercial charter flights. Other nicknames/Acronyms for the Patriot Express are Pat-eX, PE, rotator or "Freedonm Bird" (to some old-timers). AMC contracts a certain number of seats on charters with commercial carriers because it is an economical, efficient way of moving large numbers of personnel where they need to go. Charter seats not filled by official fliers are assigned for a small fee (Head Tax and Inspection Fees) to Space-Available travelers. The process for signing up for Space-A travel is the same as other military flights. Patriot Express flights have the usual commercial airline amenities. The flights are at least equal to the commercial economy class and, in some cases, a bit better. For instance, travelers on some flights can expect hot towels, free movies and headsets, and more leg room than found on most commercial airlines. West coast Patriot Express flights depart and arrive via Seattle-Tacoma International (SeaTac) Airport to Kadena, Yokota, Iwakuni and Misawa (also Yokota-Singapore).
      East coast Patriot Express departures depart and arrive via Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) Airport and Norfolk NAS to Europe (Germany, Italy, Azores, Greece and Spain). For further information on the Patriot Express, read through the AMC Patriot Express Brochure. Note: The Patriot Express was reduced several years ago and as a result Atlanta IAP, Los Angeles, Rhein-Main AB, and RAF Mildenhall are no longer used as Patriot Express departure points. See the Patriot Express News Articles for more info on the history. Don't despair fellow Space-A travelers, even though Patriot Express flights have been reduced opportunities for space-A travel still exist on military aircraft to/from the usual military bases.
