I have to agree with you. This is a very refreshing beer and so underrated for sure. I'd drink it over some of the more popular beers out there for sure! Carta Blanca I'd rate an 8 out of 10 with no hesitation good lager beer in my opinion!
I bought this at a whim at a local Latin market and was surprised by the high price they rang up at the register, but went ahead and bought it anyway. Before drinking it, I checked out the reviews on Beer Advocate and was disenchanted, but before I drank the beer, I looked up your opinion and immediately knew that I would like this beer and I was right. Anyways tonight, I walk into a local convenience store and was pleasantly surprised to find it for a very decent price. I am enjoying it right now, and will hopefully be drinking it more often in the future. Thanks for not being a beer elitist!
I was really blown away by how similar to German lager this beer really was. I cracked it open and did a smell test and thought: “wow is this Hofbrau???” And the taste followed it up for me. Crisp, clean, malty and honestly truly excellent I’m a big fan as of today. Another thing that I was pretty interested in, is if you pour this in a glass next to an American adjunct like Budweiser, High life, or Banquet... you will notice the carta Blanca is significantly darker but still lager golden if you will. very interesting beer to me. Love it! Great review !
I really enjoy watching your old reviews while I'm drinking the beer you are review. Carta Blanca, in my opinion, is a good Mexican beer. I like it better than the bigger brands (Corona, Dos Equis). I'm glad that I can get it down here in Tucson, I wasn't never able to find it in Michigan.
I´m from Monterrey, and specially this beer represents everything about our traditions, folklore, and culture. Cartablanca was the official beer of the Royal Spain Family in 1906 and "the best beer in the world" in 1956. "From The North To The World" Greetings from Monterrey.
Jeffrey Lyons It is also sold that way around here, but it's so limited. When I do see it, and seems like only at Rouse's Supermarkets, it's in the big single bottles.
Mr. Theriot I'll say thanks for the good ratings you give to the mexican beers, I'm glad you like the beers made here in Mexico!! Thanks. Gracias jaja cheers!
This is available at corner stores in Texas. Not 7-eleven mind you but the local small shops definitely. I love the level of carbonation and the sweetness - since you said it got bought by Heineken it sort of reminds me of Heineken oddly.
I don't know if it's better with the buyout, but it's certainly not worse! Thanks! This one guy is really giving me a hard time on my pouring (as evidenced by his comments on my Becks Sapphire canned version review).
I also believe it's a great beer. and is up there with one of my favorite Mexican beers. Prost friend!. Just as side question if I may!. is that Fort Polk the base you where mentioning in the video??
I think you're right about the distinguishing thing, but still and all, when looking at Carta Blanca (and other Mexican beers, like Dos Equis, Modelo, and Tecate), I still think it has so many positive characteristics that make it so enjoyable. I guess a big fault of mine is that I just love a wide array of beers.
Very good reviews Ronald I really enjoy the Chanel. This one is in my top 3. Is an underrated beer, which used to be the one and only here in Monterrey. I think it lost recognition because it used to be what grandpas preffered, and the fathers changed it for newer brands like tecate. Right now it's regaining popularity locally, the sons and hipsters are appreciating it again. Hopefully heineken will realize it.
I’m a big Carte Blanca fan but what’s amazing to me is it’s low profile. Never seebit ih Mexican restaurants and not even sold in the beer stores here in Norfolk/ Virginia Beach area. I make sure I grab some when I head home to NJ or make a visit to former home suburban Atlanta. Just downed a 32 oz bottle, as great as usual and blows doors off Corona or Dos Equis lager (Ambar is good though) and holds its own against Modelo or Pacifico
@@ronaldtheriot you're welcome. I have been following you for a number of years. I use your site for information on beers that I'm trying. Thank you for your services
Special history w/ the beer: Carta Blanca's what Steinbeck and Ricketts drank, like hundreds of them, all along their float near Baja CA peninsula inspecting the shallows and recording/collecting the invertebrates- ..i tried it because I read The Log from the Sea of Cortez (aka Gulf of California) a couple years ago. I like it a lot, but think Bohemia is a lot more of a day brightener with that clove/citris hop.
Even when I go to Mexico each year you don't see much Carta Blanca really. The brand does not seem to be as popular as it used to be. This said, its a decent enough predictable Mexican Macro. Nice review. CHEERS!!! DJ
MarinRayado Yes, if it's from draft, so that the customer won't get cheated. From a bottle or can, it doesn't matter. Thanks for watching, MarinRayado. I appreciate it!
wow a $1.99 for a 32 ounce. I paid $2.99 for a 32 ounce. mmmmm & I thought I got this beer for the best price it seems like Louisiana has better prices. Nice & pleasant & I don't taste any cheap artificial sweeteners like corn syrup which is a good thing. Not bad at all for a Mexican take on a pale lager. It's not up there with your great euro lagers but it's decent. Cheers!
I saw this at a convenient store today a 12 pack for 8.50. was skeptical so I ended up with a 12 pack of Lonestar light and after watching this I regret my decision.
I have never had this beer. Why is their particles in this beer? I do the sign of the cross when I see or hear sirens too..Catholic upbringing. Cheers!
That's the problem with BA and Rate Beer (in my opinion BA is the worst with this). Too much of an elitist mentality. Pretty much any Mexican beer with a dark bottle is at the very least drinkable. Especially on an extremely hot day.
I use to like BA back maybe 10 years ago when it was just a good place for beer info. Now, unless a beer has 80 IBU and extremely exclusive, its scoffed at.
This is one of my favorite Mexican beers, and it is super refreshing.
I really enjoy it, Bucky.

It's 3 bucks plus tax and CR-V here in Los Angeles, California
One of the best Mexican beers available. I bought a quart bottle tonight and it is really good!
Stuart Fitzsimons I agree!

It sure is a fine beer. Thanks for watching, Jose Montemayor. I appreciate it!

Thanks, Austin Benjamin. I appreciate you watching! Well, wasn't Carta Blanca developed by a German immigrant, in Mexico?
Yes one of my favorite Mexican lagers. I'm glad its still great and better with the buy out. Love your pour.
Thanks, and I appreciate you watching, Casey phantom209!
I agree, Jose Diaz. Thanks so much for watching!
excellent beer definitely my favorite from Mexico. thank you for the review Ronald keep it up dude!

Carta Blanca is a most excellent beer!
Bought a 12 pack today and revisited your review.
Great beer. A real hidden gem.

Drinking a carta blanca right now with some good honey chipotle marinated beef steak here at San Antonio tx blessings to Louisiana Ron.

Oh, it will probably someday happen.
Excellent revisit. It's definitely one of the best Mexican beers out there. Are cans of it common in Louisiana ?
Thanks! Well, cans are almost unheard of, in Louisiana.
It has a similar taste to paps blue ribbon.. It is great.. Thanks for presenting-

I like it, and it's fairly common, in the New Orleans' area, Douglas.
Carta Blanca is important because in much of Texas and New Mexico it was the only beer for sale during prohibition.
I was totally unaware of that. Where did you hear this? Thanks for watching, robert Browning. I appreciate it!
It's one of the best mexican beers I've had
I love it. Thanks for watching, Jose Diaz. I appreciate it!

can you do a Mexican beer review paired with some good chips and salsa?
I suppose I could, one day. Thanks for watching, Richard Rogers. I appreciate it!
Thanks Dude. Love the beer reviews. Keep them coming.
You should try a craft beer also from monterrey, its called "bocanegra" is a pilsner. Very good beer with such aroma and great taste.
sebasgzav Thanks for watching, sebasgzav! Well, if I see that one, I'll check it out.
Carta blanca is a nice beer in Mexico is cheap and refresh
I certainly agree. Thanks for watching, CJ NH. I appreciate it!

Thanks a lot, the Soundprincess (& others). I appreciate you watching!
one of my favorite beers. you pour it wrong?....give me a break. another great and accurate review dude!

Cheers to you in Morelia, and I have bought that one. Thanks for watching, Martin Alvarado. I appreciate it!
I think pretty much all beers have those little particles, but you have to be under intense sunlight to see them.
the first mexican beer i saw your review that your really liked i thought it was good but for me the finish was too sweet
I ought to revisit it.
I concur!
Anyone who gives that a 3 out of 100 is just doing that to be snobby. It's a good, light beer. I like your vids btw!
You're right. Thanks for watching, Travis Wonders. I appreciate it!

Thanks, and have you been back to Mexico in the last few years? Cheers, back to you!
I need some goblets/chalices like that
I love running across such a value!
You pour just like I do. And ppl pour the way they want. It's just that in the restaurant business you gotta pour it in a 45 degree angle
MarinRayado Yes, if it's from draft, so that the customer won't get cheated. From a bottle or can, it doesn't matter. Thanks for watching, MarinRayado. I appreciate it!
You should do this as a a side by side with Corona, Dos Equis, Presidente, Tecate, and Sol.
That really would be an interesting taste challenge.
Yes this beer is bueno
It sure is. Thanks for watching, Cinco Morales. I appreciate it!
How does it compare to Pabst?
Well, I guess they match up pretty well. Thanks for watching, Robert Devoy. I appreciate it!

why isn't it promoted as heavily as other mexican beers? it's the best of the bunch, imo!
Tomas A. Molina I 100% agree, Tom.
Ronald Theriot picked up a 32 ouncer for tonight!

Best beer in the world is Bohemia and tgen Carta Blanca. The only thing i dont like about it, is that it fills me up too fast. It shows in that burp.
Well, make sure you don't drink too much of them!
