I get really strong Energylandia vibes from this place - a park growing up out of nothing surrounded by fields and farmland. It’s really nice to see a new park on the map and investors taking a chance on this kind of project.
Coming from someone who lives 15 minutes down the highway from this park, can confirm it is surrounded by nothing but fields
Love Matugani coaster, fast and smooth. Nopuko is one of the most brutal coasters I have ever been on. It looks like it should be an amazing layout, but you get thrown around brutally! Been in the front, middle and back and it doesn't matter. The park is beautiful!
You’re a good dad for not letting Sophie ride the super janky rides! When I was a little younger than her, my dad convinced me to go on the jankiest wild mouse of all time at the AZ state fair and I ended up with bruises on my legs 😬
Also, Amy is absolutely adorable, even if she is currently in the “demon” stage of toddlerhood.
This is a long stage of demonhood for sure. And yeah we try and keep Sophie off the super intense or rough coasters. Once in a while one slips in there

Yeah Matugani was pretty consistently getting a full train but never had a wait
It rained when I first arrived too, luckily not too hard. Matugani is absolutely the highlight and I bought a t-shirt for it, seriously an epic little accelerator. The whole park was a blast, loved the atmosphere and staff, 100% worth the trip to see this park.
Amazing park! We did a weekend trip there a couple weeks ago with 2 days at the themepark and 1 at the waterpark. Extremely impressive what theyve achieved with this park layout and themeing. All parks can take several notes from Lost Island. Hopefully it gets the love and attendance it deserves.
Matugani really helps make this park a place to visit.

Lost Island looks like a wonderful park. I’ve heard absolutely nothing but praise about it from everyone whose been. Really cool to see a state like Iowa really become a theme park destination, wonder if the added competition will drive Adventureland to add more new stuff as well

Oh Adventureland probably has nothing to worry about. They've always been down for changing up rides/adding new rides to the park

Had to come back and watch again. Visited yesterday! Great potential, and love Volcanu. But what’s with the 56” requirement on Matugani?!?!? My kiddo is 54” and wasn’t able to ride. Never seen a coaster at 56” limit
So glad you enjoyed my home park! Matugani isn't my objective #1, but it's my favorite in my heart, just so much fun.
I had the opposite experience with Walibi Rhône-Alps on their opening day in 2022. I had come from Europa Park and a fair in Nancy, France-where is was in the 40’s. I go to a park that supposedly in the French Alps and it was in the 70’s, so I bought a Mystic bag for my loose articles because it was too hot for my rain coat and since I had been studying in Madrid since January, I didn’t have shorts-so I basically suffered from Easter to May 20 (2022) with just jeans back in Madrid. I can’t take heat despite being born in abnormally warm February promptly after a blizzard
the disko is definitely in my top 3 for this park, even if it's not a credit, really appreciate the high praise from sophie!!! i think the paint job on the disc is beautiful, same goes for a lot of the rides
this is my new home park, i've been on every adult ride over 4 visits and i love it

this park so much more immersive and just top tier.
It's family owned, and they've already put over $100 million into what they have. They have expansion plans, but need more attendance to expand!
@@AnnEckhart oh yeah I agree. I don’t mean that they have to do it asap. I just mean in the future that those two things could be good choices for a more immersive experience.

Seems like Matugani / Kanonen got some new track and great to see that it got new life at a small park, It definetly did not like Göteborg's wheather which is basically what was seen in this video + more rain and snow and was down all the time so Liseberg had to get rid of it.

The reviews of this park have been very positive so I need to take a trip there this season. Maybe take the weekend to hit the other Iowa parks. I assume you already visited my home park SFGAm before posting this. It would have been cool to run into you there and hopefully you enjoyed the park of clones.
Looks like an interesting place, hope it does well going forward. I visited Liseberg the another month (the Swedish park the Intimin came from). Can confirm their dive coaster is alright.

I’m gonna be a dad soon so loved the clip of Amy on the slide and it’s awesome seeing how much fun you have with Sophie on these rides. Makes me super excited to get to do these things with my daughter
You for sure will enjoy all the stages. And once she hits 36 inches you'll get to hit all those milestones...40, 42, 46, 48, 52, 54, unlocking new rides along the way

About the wacky worms, if you go in the back you get some airtime. I'd say it's ejector, but that's my opinion. I learned this at jolly roghrs at 10th street. (I went there like 2 weeks ago)

At the age of (just turned) 1, my eldest niece is a huge coaster fan. Sadly of the ones you put drinks on, I will be passing on my wisdom when she’s big enough though.

I hope this park succeeds and keeps adding new attractions. I really can't justify a trip there yet since there's just one coaster and one dark ride that I want to do
Hopefully this park starts drawing more crowds. Went in June and it is a true gem.
This place seems to have a few decent coasters, some cool flat rides and the dark ride looks like fun. Definitely considering a trip (next year) when we have our Cedar Fair passes, so we can hit Valleyfair, Worlds of fun and Michigan’s Adventure one the loop. It may be a small park, but small parks can be awesome family trips and keeping them out of the hands of the big chains so they can’t pull a Geauga Lake on it is definitely a worthwhile reason.
So your favorite park is Kings Island and her favorite is Busch Gardens Williamsburg. We've seen you rank your favorite amusement parks, but maybe you should make a video where Sophie ranks her favorite parks. We'd love to know how she would compare to you in this case.
Crazy that this park is still around when it's empty, I thought it could be a failure and would close down like Hard Rock Park, but no, it's still chugging along and I hope this park gets more love and more advertising for those who drive in the middle of nowhere Waterloo, and I hope the Bertch family invest in the RMC for this park.
Also, at 4:36, that's a great use of How to Train Your Dragon, which is Taylor Bybee's favorite animated movie, like ever.

Okay, Amy is getting out of control cute at this point. As a fellow girl dad, I love how you’ve integrated that aspect of your life into your channel. Hoping to get my kiddos on as many coasters as Sophie some day!
My kid is just not a coaster fan--she's more willing to ride them than I was as a kid and enjoys really gentle family coasters, but when she tried something a little more intense she just didn't like it. And my wife doesn't either. That's OK. I can use the single-rider line.
@@MattMcIrvin Same here so far, but my daughter and unofficial step-kids are still very young (5 & 6), so crossing my fingers for the years to come.
We went last month. It was hot enough to ride the water ride Yuta Falls, which was pretty nice. But that purple coaster was terribly rough. I hated it even though it looked like a great coaster. Robbie wasn’t tall enough for the green coaster but it sounds like we didn’t miss anything. Also, agreed, this park is BEAUTiFUL. And they are very nice.

If you come anywhere near the state of Tennessee soon you should come to Lake Winnie in Rossville Georgia it is old and they’re main roller coaster is a PTC that opened in 1967 it is very rough
They also have only two coasters the PTC called Cannonball and a kiddie coaster called Wacky Worm

This looks like a great family owned park. Matugani looks like fun I never rode a ride like that. And I’m curious to check out the water park. Because I heard that’s supposed to be really good also. I’m about 9 hours away from lost island. So I’m hesitant to make the drive there this year but next summer for sure! I also hope the attendance goes up for this park. I wanna see it grow! I will be so disappointed if it doesn’t. Cause I feel like this place is something special.
I'm just now noticing how Matugani's logo on your hoodie is nearly identical to the logo of Diamondback. Not complaining as it made my list of Coaster Entrance signs but couldn't help but point it out. I definitely want to hit this park next summer.

That's crazy. I also broke the wacky worm 2 weeks ago. I thought we'd have to be evac'd, but they were able to send us around 4 more times and finally get it lined up to unlock the restraints. Lost Island was a beautiful park with friendly staff, and Matugani is a contender for best coaster in the state for me.
According to info that's been relayed to me from Zamperla, those disk-o things do actually coast, but only the ones that have the hill to the other side. I never thought they did, but I guess I was wrong. I never counted them before, but from my research, it seems like we should be.
I've never had a ride where the train stopped correctly in the station. Maybe it's because of all the weight we put on the train is more than what the brakes can handle.

It’s like we went back in time…to that long ago time before Sophie hit 200 credits!!
Seems like it could be a great park once they've got a couple more rides. And now for wild speculation on what those rides could be!
* Vekomas seem to be popular with newer parks these days. Already got a launch and an invert covered, so maybe a Bermuda Blitz or tilt coaster.
* Could be a good spot for one of those new Zamperla spinners that just debuted at Cedar Point.
* Every park's gotta have a woodie, so a GCI or Gravity Group is a no-brainer. Hell, maybe they can be the first to get one of RMC's family hybrids.
* Eurofighters can fit just about anywhere.
* Longshot prediction: Intamin megalite? Might make sense to do repeat business with manufacturers they've already got represented, might be looking for something that doesn't have inversions, and being the only one in the Americas it'd probably be a draw for the enthusiast community.
* Speaking of "draw with enthusiasts due to being the only one in the Americas," another longshot: Mack hypercoaster, megacoaster or Big Dipper could all work. Hypercoaster in particular could be a great draw, I know DC Rivals is on a lot of bucket lists but you gotta get all the way to Australia to ride it. And with Thorpe getting one next year, Mack might be in the mood to build more of 'em.

I didn't know about this place and am not sure if I can make it out there in the near future, but I can at least claim one of its credits thanks to an enthusiast trip to Sweden many years ago. Also, is that the only SLC in North America with the "bonus helix"?

Listen i rode Nopunko it when it was known Cobra at Ratanga Junction in places such as South Africa! But back to the point before the rip i rode it this year as Nopunko and only jankyiness is that first inversion after that its pretty tame! Also Matunga! Omg i am so glad we got Kanonen from Liseberg one my favorite intamin launches! can't wait see wat lil lost island does next!
I was feeling the violence from Nopuko the whole ride, but it seems to be consensus that the fist inversion is savage

I rode Kanonen and it was not a particularly bad ride, its a small footprint and some maneuvers are tight and a bit awkward, but that's okay, it was a good ride overall. The problem was that when Helix opened in the Park, it sort of became obsolete and Valkyria filled the gap in the parks line up a bit better since they were lacking something with height.
It's as if Lost Island builds an elaborate Intamin (or Zamperla?!?!?!?!) Blitz Coaster in ten Years, Matugani would'nt fit well into the Parks line up anymore...
They made a solid choice with Matugani, but I'm lost on why they got an SLC. A small scale GCI or family Gravity Group woodie couldn't have cost much more, I'd even guess less depending on scale. Just a bad first step imo, but I still look forward to visiting eventually, especially once my son is old enough to come along with me.
I agree. They said they wanted to have coasters that are not found at Adventureland to get people to visit, and they don't have a suspended coaster. But this was the wrong choice. They needed to consult someone.

Save the (very rare) rain (not a mention a freak snowfall at Disneyland, of all places) storm at Six Flags Magic Mountain--at least the weather is relatively dry here in Southern California where theme/amusement parks are concerned.

Question why are those disco rides not considered coasters but the intamin half pipe ride and mack power splash are coasters. Pretty much the same ride

IMO They should replace Matugani's launch with an lsm one. It will be much more reliable and they have more than enough launch track.
It only gets up to like 45 MPH so I think it's logical
If they planned to open this in 2023 all along, I bet they would have gotten the Zamperla Lightning trains, like Senzafiato did.
Characters and theming which isn't based on anything that people know is kind of a gamble. The place looks good.

I’m glad you guys enjoyed this park, but comparing the SLC to T3 was laughable. Nopuko has one jolt at the top of the first inversion. The rest of the ride is great!
Also, this was a very surface level review. I’m not sure you noticed, or celebrated the layers of the park that really make it special. At one moment, you can hear the beautiful soundtrack in the background of your video. Each realm has its own wonderful custom music.
The amount of storytelling in the part is amazing with an entire language created from scratch, a plethora of characters, and a wonderful interactive app filled with interactive details around the park.
Justice league is a mid tier, dark ride experience. Volkanu is top-tier and it was interesting hearing your daughter’s reaction to it. It’s shocking to me she didn’t appreciate it more between the amazing queue, the cute preshow, the real fire, superior, animatronics, and top notch environments.
Justice league is pretty much a warehouse with 75% screens.
This place has a lot more to offer than just showing up to ride rides.
I dunno I was riding defensively thruout the whole Nopuko course, definitely more than just a jolt. We didn't do the app, that would have been interesting. I agree Volkanu was a top tier shooting dark ride, but hey Sophie's opinion is her opinion

I aim to have as great of a relationship with my daughter that Chris has with his 2. I can tell how much my guy cares about those kids. I also hope she will ride coasters lol
The only problem with this place is it's about 100 miles past nowhere iowa, like noone is just going to be passing by... I would love to go one day, but the 5 hour drive from Chicago will feel like 10 hours so idk if I can do it
This is true. But their waterpark is pretty successful apparently so they have a customer base
Waterloo is on Highway 20 - the park is one exit off. We are 60 miles from Cedar Rapids, and we draw in a quarter of a million people from the surrounding area who come here to work, eat, shop, and play. The water park has a devoted following (top 3 in the USA Today poll) and the Isle Capri Casino is also right there.
