How Convenient is Disney World When You Live Next Door? | Moving to Orlando

  • We moved to Orlando so that we could go to and experience everything Disney World has to offer as much as possible. The biggest question for us when looking where we wanted to buy a house was how convenient it would be to Disney World property and allow us to maximize our time in the parks. After living here close to a year, we're answering the question we asked ourselves hundreds of times - How convenient will it be if we move right next door to Disney World?

    I’m 11 miles from Disney in Champions Gate. Getting to Animal Kingdom in 15 minutes, but every other park takes 30-45 minutes. I go for a few hours to the parks and then jump to a resort crawl or head to Disney Spring’s. Planning around dining reservations works well too.

      I live in Clermont, 11 miles as the crow flies, I can see the fireworks from my back yard.... but it takes 35-45 minutes just to drive into a Disney parking lot. If only I had a helicopter....

    I can hear some viewers say 'It still sounds better than visiting from out of state'. But it is good to know that living close
    isn't perfect and expectations have to be set correctly. Great video!

    I can't believe a year has passed since I was watching you pack and sell your old home to move to Florida. Disney has become so complex and expensive that I will enjoy it through videos of others like yourself, and relive the old Disney in my mind. Thanks for sharing.

    Yes, getting into MK can really feel like you're on Football 🏈 time. 😅 We live in Celebration so I know what you mean. Technically we live "about 5-6 minutes" away. In reality it takes at least 30-45 minutes to get into the parks, on the longer end for MK. We go often, but we do tend to go for full days. It's impossible to go there and Not spend money (that's my story and I'm sticking to it😉). While we understand why they've kept the pass reservation system (unfortunately, I don't think it's going away either) it definitely does make it harder for spontaneous trips. That was something we used to love doing- just getting up and "feeling like a Disney mental health day" and going into the park. Now we have to plan a bit more or be more flexible in our park selection.🤷‍♀️

    Great video. We are locals, 15 minutes from MK, but we don’t have AP yet, this video was perfect for our situation. We did Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween & we’re going to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas & in 2023 we’re going to do the after hours events. This seems to work for us until/if they unpause the pause on AP. We do go to DS a couple times a week and we also do resort hopping as well.

      They have the pixie pass right now. Just be careful.... pixie might go away. You can always get pixie and then upgrade if a better AP comes around. But if they get rid of pixie, you'll be out of luck.

    Daughter and I moved to be closer!! However, didn’t know about the school zones! ( have to live in THAT area to go THAT particular school..) so… we are 30min out by Waterford Lakes. However… you guys mentioned incorporating Disney into your life. Fridays we live for DS! waiting on annual passes to come back… but you both mentioned the monorail crawl…. And skyliner crawl… can I do a video on that? In my mind I see it….Epcot will be challenging … idk. But terrific idea! Incorporating….. I like that. Thanks for all you both do!!!

    We live about 35 minutes away in Clermont/Minneola area. We have found in the past two years since moving here that life happens and we don't get over there as much as we thought we would. BUT you are right that magic kingdom is logistically a pain. We find that if we go in the evening, we get there around 6 or 6:30 pm. After staying to almost close, it makes it after midnight by the time you get back to TTC and drive back home. Not very practical if we have to work in the morning. So usually we go to Hollywood Studios or Epcot as we can walk out of the park and be back in our cars in a few minutes.

    • @AddictedtotheMouse
      @AddictedtotheMouse  ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree, much easier to just walk to the car

      We are in Clermont too. We have found there are sooooo many other things to do right in Clermont and the surrounding areas that it is often more fun and more convenient to do those things instead of going into Disney. Have you experienced the same thing?

    • @TobyGwinn
      @TobyGwinn ปีที่แล้ว

      @@relocatingtodisney9044 We have! We enjoy the downtown Clermont area with the farmer's market on Sunday and the restaurants and food halls. I do love that fact that there are lots of things to do beyond the parks... its one of the reason's we don't get over there as much as we thought we would when we moved here.

    I lived in Champions Gate for a yr and the traffic was terrible. I felt like a prisoner most days. The 5 mile stretch from Celebration to Champions Gate had 90 min backups nearly every afternoon and weekends. My advice is if you move to Orlando be on the Intl drive side.

    Locals here...for MK we've been parking at Springs. Grab a meal/snack (since the food is better at Springs). Then bus to any MK resort and walk to MK gate. It's easier and more relaxing than the ttc, ferry, monorail situation. 😊
