@@luisamorim3123 not my thing personally, but I'm pretty sure he's a musician on account of all that music he's been making and selling for the past 15 years or so
Its beautiful when you see the right kind of people being rewarded and recognized for their hard and honest work. They give me hope. Maybe we haven't completely lost our minds and taste in good music.
I've only recently discovered this band.. and it is all by accident.. last year i had purchase a use pickup truck and the previous owner had forgotten an unmarked CD on his visor and instead of throwing it away i said what the heck i'll listen to it.. It was the entire bootleg album of Turn Blue.. AMAZINGG!! my favorite jam is Weight of love!!... Sadly i left that CD in a car i had rented for the holidays and my quest is get every one of the songs that was in that CD.
+James Rojas it's not a matter of better, it's a matter of phases. The Big Come Up was symbolic of their roots. Attack and Release certainly was a new thing too. Brothers, El Camino etc.. They're all just phases, and honestly, I saw the black keys at the el Camino world tour and turn blue world tour, both at the Oakland colosseum. And honestly they always rock the bloody hell out of whatever they're doing.
Love these dudes, musicians who are humble, talented, funny and family people...it shouldn't be as unique as it is. Love it and the awesome tunes they play
I love how he hold his mom's hand and kisses both his parents goodbye and he's over 30. That's a genuine person right there who is lucky to do what he loves and still knows where he came from. Very refreshing.
they are so down to earth and so hard working! I love their music so much. saw them live twice this year, and gonna see them again twice this month! so excited! :))
SevenFoot Pelican this is from 2012... they weren’t married then but I get what it saying. Anyway, pretty sure the question was sarcastic and rhetorical.
one of the best things about the black keys is their story, I think they come from a very very familiar background and the way that they very slowly gained popularity and now they're like a CCR type group making legitimate radio hits
It's a bit weird and sad that they only got famous when their musical concept was beginning to exhaust. It's a bit like if the Stones breakthrough album was Some Girls ... I'm sure a lot of Black Keys fans never even listened to The Big Come Up. Shows as lousy the music industry is to recognize good music.
I hear you. However, every artist has changes, and different times they feel strongly about. Turn Blue is a lot of talent but very different. I can't think of one album before that I don't love almost each song. Can't wait to the next gift of music that certainly will come
I didn't like turn blue at first either, cause I liked their gritty blues y'know? But the Weight Of Love grew on me, it's one of the best songs of the decade in my opinion. It's got a good Pink Floyd feel.
I remember seeing videos of them way back in the day, playing tiny venues. Never had I seen such a tirelessly *hard* *working* team! And *tight!* .. omg they have always been tight.
I will never forget my friend taking me to a black keys and dr dog concert at a small venue in my home town. Probably had less than a hundred people there and it was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
I love the Black Keys I saw them at the 02 arena 2011and after the first few songs 3 musicians left the stage leaving Dan and Patric who blue the house down just the two of them awesome
University gig Bristol UK 2006 was the first time I saw them after being a Thickfreakness fan. Awesome. Loved the improvisation, such a small venue! Well done guys.
@@GROZNAYA Reading this for the first time I realized you are a worthless bag of fucking shit who will never accomplish anything in his pathetic existence other than hating on popular artists on the internet. What a fucking failure. Your existence is fucking laughable. I hope you realize that.
sucks you didn't like the album, but it makes sense for their progression. They probably aren't going to recreate The Big Come Up, Thickfreakness, or Rubber Factory (my favorite albums still) but they have to progress. I personally think they've done a very good job. I enjoy almost all of their stuff, which is something i don't find from many other artists.
7:17-7:24. Dan got a little bit emotional when his step dad said those great things about him. It goes to show that sometimes we all need to hear something similar from our parents or other people who mean so much to them.
I watched this story for the second time now and even today, I can't believe how humble and grounded these dudes are. Surely they changed their style, especially if you compare Turn Blue to their earlier works. But they are some sort of what I call the backbone of Rock'n'Roll music - in a old fashioned sense. In the US, you can find so many great bands, just take trip to the Warped Tour, but they are different in their approach and behaviour. I think they miss out on some of the fundamental ingridients - the things, that make this genre so great. Soul, low-key productions and a little bit of a sandpaper-element. Something gritty. The Black Keys have that. Let's just hope they get back together and kill it with another album.
They don't need style, they don't need to be cool or buff, nor do they need to be "hot" because they have an awesome personality and have ALOT of talent

these guys are the best band out there today. no rapper comes close. they have such respect for people and they come from such good functional family backrounds and make such good music.
Not really, much of the human population is mindless and will listen to anything with a loud bass that make your ears bleed and a catchy hook with the same four chords in a different order. You really have to look hard to find good artists that are about the complexities of music not for money like most if not all pop artists.

That has got to be the coolest way to discover a band I’ve ever heard. I’m sure the keys would like the story too.
Walk on By by Isaac Hayes from his 1969 album Hot Buttered Soul.
