Ironic as 1978 was the year when there was a tragic fire which occurred on a sleeping car train in Taunton. This incident led to the withdrawal of the old Mark 1 sleeping cars dating from the early 1960s with their replacement by the Mark 3 sleeping cars in the early 1980s.
Arh the old internal scottish sleeper.does seem.a strange concept today......i guess you could occupy about an hour early at Inverness and vacant around 7am at Glasgow with barely 4hrs on the move......
Beautiful! 💙
I remember this advert being played in the cinema
before Wombling Free started, in 1978.
Contains the Gublin Legends Episode:
Bessie O'The Glen
Did this in the 70s as a kid, Exeter to Arbroath and the train was delayed so we were overnight I think in bristol. Great memories.
Also the actor in this advert is Jack McKenzie who appeared in Fine Fare Superstores adverts years later.
Music from The (Mighty) Mike Sammes Singers I think.

The Maggie Stredders Singers I think did the singing in this commercial.
