    Any time you want me to run the excavator again, just let me know. That was a blast!

      Haha! That's great! One of us needs to get a compact track loader and we could start an excavation company 🤠👍

    We love your videos and wish they were longer. Also you were right about checking to see that we're still subscribed, I have to keep resubscribing. Debi from Coos Bay, Oregon. 🇺🇲😁

      Hi Debi! Thank you so much! I really try to keep videos around 20 mins. Admittedly, this one was a bit short. I'll try to maybe include more details about what I'm doing, but I certainly don't want things to get boring 🤠👍

    Up north we always put a bed of 6" of sand down first , then install all the services , then put at least 10" of sand on top of that to protect services then finish the back fill. Not only does the sand protect the services if you have to do a repair you know when your close to the services when digging it up.

      That is a very smart practice! I feel good about the gravel on top, but putting a softer surface down beneath would have been better. I hope there aren't any issues 🤠👍

      He used conduit which my understanding is that’s not needed. I just did direct burial and did the sand.

    Looks good and good thing you are leaving the ground hilled up when I was a kid we had sewer lines run into the house and the contractor left the ground about 8 inches high dad wanted it level the man said give it a couple of months and it would be all the neighbors had to refill there trenches and dads was level

      Thank you! Yes, I want to see how much it settles naturally. I will certainly track it in some and clean out all the debris. I added 11 tons of crushed concrete so I may have some extra dirt. Time will tell 🤠👍

    Looking good. I backfilled a trench to fast once and crushed the conduit. Don't get in a hurry anymore.

      @samsdoinstuff  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! I was actually questioning if I should get the crushed concrete, then I thought, I put SO much work in up to this point, why would I risk it. That's also why I'm choosing to allow natural compaction for a little while. 🤠👍

    Good morning from Oklahoma. Big project lots of work but the end result is worth it.

      Thank you, and good morning! This all started because I want to be able to mow around the barns, lol! Turned into a huge project, but definitely worth it in the end 🤠👍

    You might enjoy a steering wheel spinner on the tractor. Eases the strain on hands and shoulder. I think it gives better control; others might disagree. Happy 4th!

      Thank you for the suggestion. I have a Kubota spinner. I tried it and it wasn't for me. Maybe I'll give it another "whirl" someday 🤠👍

      @@samsdoinstuff Not everyone will like a spinner. Some put them on to be operated with ones right hand. To me, that interferes with other functions I need to attend to. I use mine in my left hand leaving my right hand free to operate the loader bucket (and grapple on one of mine). I can load/dump far faster. I mounted mine at about 10 o'clock tho with hydraulic steering, it moves around quite a bit. No demerits or points off for not using one, no penalties whatsoever. Your choice. To me, it makes turning easier and I like the extra control. I found my hand, in hot weather, tended to slip off the wheel (again, left hand) when "palm" steering.

    Nice teamwork Sam. Having the 2 machines going at the same time was very effective. 12 bucks a ton is a great price. I was wondering if you added a pump or upgraded the one at the house in order to have good water pressure at the barn since that's a long way for the water to travel.

    • @johnathaneaston7976
      @johnathaneaston7976 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The barns are downhill from the house so no need.

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Paul! I did not add another pump or pressure tank. That 1" line really flows well (pun allert). I have plenty of pressure and wow, is that going to be convenient 🤠👍

    Nice work, Sam. Are you going to run water into the barn or stop there?

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You're not running water into the barn for a deep sink or something?

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question. That would be very convenient but I do not have anywhere for the waste water to go. I don't think it's legal to pipe a drain out into the open. Maybe I'm wrong though? 🤠👍

    Loops to late now but I put down a thick mat first then backfill I've even used a really thick layer of straw first . What you used was a waste

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The mat seems like a good idea, but sand or gravel is a very effective and commonly used material to protect the pipes. Definitely wasn't a waste 🤠👍

      Today has FINALLY gotten down to a wonderful 75°. We had temps in the 90's for about 14 days. I don't live in NE Ohio for the heat, lol 🤠👍
