What’s keeping Song Hwa away? That’s what we need to see in Season 2. Her narrative. Imagine if Ik Jun is really her first love, imagine the hurt she had to go through when she heard that he’ll be having a family of his own. Imagine Ik Jun’s wedding and the tears she shed. I cant.
Maybe this is their second chance. I hope it is. While it may be cliche if they do end up together, it's all about timing. If she does not end up with anyone, it's fine too. But please I hope she doesn't end up with Chihong at all.
I think Song Hwa's first love is Ik Jun. Remember during a funeral scene, the chairman ask everyone if they ever liked Song Hwa, and everyone was like did yall? And Everyone found out Seok-Hyeong confessed to Song Hwa. But, Song Hwa responded was she liked someone else. And Everyone was like that's a brutally no. But In reality, Song Hwa probably liked Ik Jun. Ik Jun was the only one who sorta knew Seok-Hyeong liked Song Hwa, that's why HE never confessed. I forgot what episode it was, it was a flashback but Song Hwa remembers Ik Jun Gave her a hair scrunchie because it was a job interview. I think, in season 2 everything will come together. There's something that Song Hwa is hiding, who knows maybe she been hurt by her past boyfriends. They don't mention Song Hwa ex's dating life.
I thought Song hwa loved ik jun from the first sight, from the time he gave the scrunchies to tie her hair. During the student night once she saw Ik Jun went out from the performance event, she went out and go to the same storage room and once she open the storage room where the 4 boys already in, her eyes goes searching to Ik Jun side directly. And she sat next to ik jun.

I’ll regret it for the rest of my life.” - Lee Ikjun i respect ikjun for confessing to songhwa. this is a confession of a 20 year old love. in those 20 years, a lot has happened to them. the fact that ikjun got married, now has uju, and is currently divorced speaks so much about the weight of this scenario. but let us take note that there were instances which hindered for this confession to happen 20 years ago. But seeing where they are now shows the character development especially for Ikjun. He has changed ultimately - from being a life of the party, he now lives for his son. In the part of songhwa, we dont know much yet for we haven’t heard anything from her. Is ikjun really her first love? We can guess and assume, despite the lack of words - the way they treat each other speaks so much. But what is noteworthy is the fact that she hasn’t rejected ikjun since that scene on the table, the dinner with the neurosurgery team, and this. she has kept her silence. and also remember that songhwa said that she doesn’t like kids that much, but her exceptions are her nephews, nieces, and of course uju - that scene where ikjun found them sleeping was heartwarming. we truly understand if this love story will take time for it to happen. Because a lot of things have to be considered and of course the timeline that they share. But for what it’s worth - ikjun and songhwa both deserve to be happy 🤍
Based on Song Hwa's personality if she doesn't like someone she say it straight to their face (see Chi Hong and Seok Hyeong's confession), however, she didn't do that to IkJun, despite the 3 confessions which I believe means hope for us IkSong shippers. I honestly want to find out her story first before they end up together. She must have been through a lot of pain, so despite liking IkJun, she is confused. I hope that their backstory won't disappoint since we have to wait for a year to see them together.
also, can we appreciate the fact that when songhwa told the guys about her check-up, ikjun didn't nag like the other 4. he was just there listening, but the next day he arrived earlier than songhwa at the hospital for the result. I honestly thought he'd really go to the taping of his ex though, my heart melted when I saw that part when he went at the hospital right after an all-night surgery. please let them be the endgame of one another. 🤞
No one can make Songhwa be flustered like Ikjun can make her. Songhwa can be chill toward her other suitors, and sometimes slam their approach right there and then. But with Ikjun she is always flustered. She pretty much losing a bit of her usual composure. So yeah, Ikjun is significant to her. But will he be that significant and that important in the already independent life of a Songhwa? That's the question and that's our agony as Iksong team. Huhu..
what I love the most about this scene is how nervous ikjun was when he confessed to songhwa. ikjun supposed to be this confident mood booster who lights up every conversation, but here he is just a boy gathering up his courage to confess in front of a girl he loves for 20 years with the fear of rejection.
I thought this scene was beautifully executed. IkSong are both wearing shades similar to the sea, and the frame was shot in a way that kinda makes you compare how they're associated to the sea. In literature, sea is often a symbolism for life (bc of its depth and width) and its unpredictability (the waves and weather which will affect the waters) which is what is happening with IkSong at the moment. This confession will change many things between them, but I loved that Ikjun highlighted that he didn't want to live the rest of his life in regrets for not telling Songhwa how he feels for her. Their love story thus far is the most realistic depiction of a sincere love between two best friends, and neither wanting to say anything bc they didnt want to jeopardize their friendship. I am still betting that Songhwa does share some feelings for Ikjun. I also thought it was understandable that they aren't endgame yet in this season. They share too much history together that cannot be resolved in 1 episode plus they are the leads and a shift in their relationship will shift the dynamics of OT5 too so definitely their story cannot be rushed. We also still need to see Songhwa's POV which I am also quite sure we will be getting in Season 2. IkSong, fighting. You will be endgame, I am sure of it.
This was freaking realistic confession, how he at the same time told about his difficult situation on this without missing the point. He begin to like her again. Ikjun is a goofball, he is a real fun characther. But if he serious like this, he look super dreamy T. T Iam rooting for you, ikjun!! Cant believe i have to wait for a year just to hear the answer 😩 IkSong endgame!!!
Notice how in 1:44 , the way he looked at her after he confessed his feelings? He always looked at her that way even in a few episodes back then whenever he said something that makes her flustered. He always observed her reaction and probably it led him into confessing now because he needed to ensure that she feels the same way about him
What I love about this drama are these PAUSES and ZERO background music when they deliver the most important lines. I can almost hear Ikjun & Songhwa's heartbeats. The scene looks so simple, yet so tense. It's so raw. Almost like invading someone else's privacy.
Ikr! Also the scene when songhwa confesses. I waited and checked the camera took a minute to completely pan close to the two sitting in the car. And you can feel the tension buildup ! The entire time there's no music, no filler dialogue but just the rain and them. It was brilliant.
I think this is the best and the most 'mature' confession.. it's not as flashy as teenager's confession but it feels like ikjun loves songhwa deeper than we expected.. can't wait for hospital playlist season2 ❤

For every iksong shippers, we still have hope for this ship. When seokhyung and chihong confess to her she deny right away, but when ikjun confess (3 times already for God’s sake! ikjun’s house, karaoke, and sokcho), she didn’t deny right away. But it really is all about timing. Ikjun would have confessed to songhwa 20 years ago but seokyong beat him to it. When Songhwa rejected seokyong, he went drinking with ikjun, that's why ikjun suppressed his feelings in favor of his friend. Songhwa texted him to meet up but ikjun rejected her and threw his gift for her. Now I think that was the point where both ikjun and songhwa did not pursue their feelings for each other in favor of their friendship with seokyong. Then we learned that ikjun has always been a party goer, girls chase him, even the woman that became his wife. And songhwa for sure started to date other men. I totally forgot that she had a boyfriend back in episode 1, and only remembered when I rewatched it. Both of them were in relationships at the start of this drama but it wasn't shown how devastated they were when they broke up. By the middle, it seems the show is slowly building up ikjun and songhwa, with the season finale showing ikjun confessing to songhwa. It was the perfect timing as there really are no more obstacles to their relationship.

Actually in that flashback scene, it’s implied Ikjun is the one that asked “let’s meet up”, because her reply is something like - “sure, let’s meet up”..... but then Ikjun didn’t expect to be consoling SeokHyung. So he replied back “never mind. Sorry. I’ll see you later”. So he changes his mind as he sees how his friend is suffering. Then after SeokHyung leaves you know Ikjun is also crushed because he stays and drinks by himself. But he doesn’t tell that part to SongHwa when he mentions how he knew that SH confessed his feelings to SongHwa 20 years ago. I really do hope season 2 starts with revealing the past history between Ikjun and SongHwa. Please! 🙏🏼😊

Ikjun and sunghwa's line of friendship has been blurring since long...atleast from ikjun side. Sure their friendship is precious and for that i respect ikjun that he is very much aware but still he has learnt from his experience and knows the weight of regret is much more, he knows that even if he chooses to stay just friends that feeling is not going to go away....even after 20yrs if it manages to comeback! Remember the scene where ikjun said to seokhyeong that if he wasnt her boss and things werent complicated, he would have dated minha. ? I feel like ikjun was talking to himself. If seokhyeong did not confess to songhwa and complicate things, ikjun and songhwa would have been a happily married couple with uju as depicted in previous episodes. So Ikjun decided to confess to songhwa so he can live life knowing his love has been heard. But the way he told songhwa assured her that no matter what happens, he will still be a friend to her. Ps. I kinda like how songhwa rejects guys immediately by telling outright, stopping the confession and kept blocking every opportunity for romance but with ikjun, she is always speechless and took the time to think about the confession.
This is my ult-favé love confession scene so far, everthing was so beautiful and realistic. Ikjun hesitance tone, Seonghwa startled reaction, the silent, the breath, the shoulders touch, the sea, the wind that I can feel it blew around them, everything. I know that's too much, I just really fall to this scene. This one is beautifully made.

There are many incidents to tell Songhwa has feeling for Ikjun 1) She once said that she always laugh at his joke. 2) At the scene of the funeral of Andre's father she said she liked some one back then but we don't know who it is. 3) She came to look after U-ju when Ikjun called. 4) She always kept silent when he said his feeling. 5) In their old times, she looks at him and signals towards the cake. That also has some mystery.
Also add the scene where the violinist’s brother (Lee Kyu Hyung) shared his love story with his best friend. And when she was asked if she has that kind of friend, then Ik Jun popped on the scene. Boy, that has a point!

I feel that the build up to this confession makes sense. It's so realistic that this situation happens a lot in real life: Friends miss out on each other because of another friend, they lose each other and date someone else but the feelings are still there, no matter how small. Ik Jun is too good of a man. He respected his friend after knowing he failed to date Song Hwa and he kept the boundary there. He got married and had a son, then he had a divorce and after 20 years of hiding his feelings, he showed it. No regrets. Man how much mental strength does it take to do it like Ik jung. I've been in this situation before so I know exactly how tough it is. I respect this man so much, so does Song Hwa. She's incredibly forgiving.

When Ikjun confess, he doesn't look to Songhwa at all, just like when Songhwa confessed, because both of them are afraid for same reason: ruining their relationship. both of them saying they will be regretting if they don't confess for the rest of their life. and just when Ikjun looked back to Songhwa, he knew he'll be rejected because Songhwa throw her face, but in ep 11 S2, when Songhwa afraid to look Ikjun, he looked at her, smiling, signs of acceptance. Maybe Ikjun was Song Hwa's first love. And then he got married and had Uju. It must've been difficult for Song Hwa to accept it, and so she put away her feelings. And now Ikjun confessed his love for Song Hwa. I think the reason why she's taking time is because, she put away those feelings that she had for Ikjun years ago. In her heart she had already accepted the fact that Ikjun is married and has a kid. So I think it will be difficult for her to accept his sudden confession. But what I like about Ikjun is that he is not rushing her and giving her time to think about it. Let's hope for the best. I just want the best for Song Hwa and I will respect her decision, no matter who she chooses.
She never rejected him. The scene where she is having coffee with one of her patient's brother, shows that she never answered his question. She said it's better if we stay as friends as it would be awkward because they have been friends for 20 years and suddenly, he's dropped this confession on to her. She never said she didn't like him and doesn't reciprocate his feelings for her, she said that 'it would be better if they stayed as friends'. She actually realises this when she's having a conversation with her patient's brother, who actually fell for his own friend who he has known for years and he realised that he answered in a similar manner saying 'its better for us to stay as friends' and that's when he knew that he didn't answer the actual question.
I respectfully disagree. I think that it's just right that they didn't became a couple this season. We only know about Ikjun's POV. We need Songhwa's as well in order for us to see the layers of their story. They need to compell us viewers and that this story arc makes us anticipate for the second season :D

what i like about ikjun's confession is he built it up. i also liked that he was going away after this confession for 2 months(?), giving time for songhwa to think about it, but at the same time not pressuring her to meet him as he is her best friend. i just like that there was an 'out' for songhwa after the confession if she ever felt negative about it.
This scene for some reason teared my heart apart... He's been in love with her for 20 years, but can't seem to find the right time to confess because he doesn't want to ruin their friendship, yet he takes this risk at doing so. But the thing is, I used to ship her with her trainee/intern, after this, I'm torn apart, I don't know anymore...
I started tearing up during this scene bc I really felt for Ikjun and for some reason, I was expecting that she would reject him. Remember, we haven't seen everything about their past yet. They may have loved each other back then, but we're not completely sure if Songhwa still feels that way about him. I hope that Season 2 covers more of Songhwa's side of the story. I'm still rooting for them, even if they don't end up together in the end.

To those who hear it…..the feelings are best described in the song “adore you” by iKON Unconditional love doesn’t come easy for some, but when you have it human nature wants us to preserve it just as it is both untouchable and untainted from possible spoil.

I think Song Hwa's first love is Ik Jun. Remember during a funeral scene, the chairman ask everyone if they ever liked Song Hwa, and everyone was like did yall? And Everyone found out Seok-Hyeong confessed to Song Hwa. But, Song Hwa responded was she liked someone else. And Everyone was like that's a brutally no. But In reality, Song Hwa probably liked Ik Jun. Ik Jun was the only one who sorta knew Seok-Hyeong liked Song Hwa, that's why HE never confessed. I forgot what episode it was, it was a flashback but Song Hwa remembers Ik Jun Gave her a hair scrunchie because it was a job interview. I think, in season 2 everything will come together. There's something that Song Hwa is hiding, who knows maybe she been hurt by her past boyfriends. They don't mention Song Hwa ex's dating life.

i respect ikjun for confessing to songhwa. this is a confession of a 20 year old love. in those 20 years, a lot has happened to them. the fact that ikjun got married, now has uju, and is currently divorced speaks so much about the weight of this scenario. but let us take note that there were instances which hindered for this confession to happen 20 years ago. But seeing where they are now shows the character development especially for Ikjun. He has changed ultimately - from being a life of the party, he now lives for his son.
In the part of songhwa, we dont know much yet for we haven’t heard anything from her. Is ikjun really her first love? We can guess and assume, despite the lack of words - the way they treat each other speaks so much. But what is noteworthy is the fact that she hasn’t rejected ikjun since that scene on the table, the dinner with the neurosurgery team, and this. she has kept her silence. and also remember that songhwa said that she doesn’t like kids that much, but her exceptions are her nephews, nieces, and of course uju - that scene where ikjun found them sleeping was heartwarming.
we truly understand if this love story will take time for it to happen. Because a lot of things have to be considered and of course the timeline that they share. But for what it’s worth - ikjun and songhwa both deserve to be happy 🤍

Based on Song Hwa's personality if she doesn't like someone she say it straight to their face (see Chi Hong and Seok Hyeong's confession), however, she didn't do that to IkJun, despite the 3 confessions which I believe means hope for us IkSong shippers. I honestly want to find out her story first before they end up together. She must have been through a lot of pain, so despite liking IkJun, she is confused. I hope that their backstory won't disappoint since we have to wait for a year to see them together.

what I love the most about this scene is how nervous ikjun was when he confessed to songhwa. ikjun supposed to be this confident mood booster who lights up every conversation, but here he is just a boy gathering up his courage to confess in front of a girl he loves for 20 years with the fear of rejection.

I thought this scene was beautifully executed. IkSong are both wearing shades similar to the sea, and the frame was shot in a way that kinda makes you compare how they're associated to the sea. In literature, sea is often a symbolism for life (bc of its depth and width) and its unpredictability (the waves and weather which will affect the waters) which is what is happening with IkSong at the moment. This confession will change many things between them, but I loved that Ikjun highlighted that he didn't want to live the rest of his life in regrets for not telling Songhwa how he feels for her. Their love story thus far is the most realistic depiction of a sincere love between two best friends, and neither wanting to say anything bc they didnt want to jeopardize their friendship. I am still betting that Songhwa does share some feelings for Ikjun. I also thought it was understandable that they aren't endgame yet in this season. They share too much history together that cannot be resolved in 1 episode plus they are the leads and a shift in their relationship will shift the dynamics of OT5 too so definitely their story cannot be rushed. We also still need to see Songhwa's POV which I am also quite sure we will be getting in Season 2. IkSong, fighting. You will be endgame, I am sure of it.

Notice how in 1:44 , the way he looked at her after he confessed his feelings? He always looked at her that way even in a few episodes back then whenever he said something that makes her flustered. He always observed her reaction and probably it led him into confessing now because he needed to ensure that she feels the same way about him
What I love about this drama are these PAUSES and ZERO background music when they deliver the most important lines. I can almost hear Ikjun & Songhwa's heartbeats. The scene looks so simple, yet so tense. It's so raw. Almost like invading someone else's privacy.
Ikr! Also the scene when songhwa confesses. I waited and checked the camera took a minute to completely pan close to the two sitting in the car. And you can feel the tension buildup ! The entire time there's no music, no filler dialogue but just the rain and them. It was brilliant.

But it really is all about timing. Ikjun would have confessed to songhwa 20 years ago but seokyong beat him to it. When Songhwa rejected seokyong, he went drinking with ikjun, that's why ikjun suppressed his feelings in favor of his friend. Songhwa texted him to meet up but ikjun rejected her and threw his gift for her.
Now I think that was the point where both ikjun and songhwa did not pursue their feelings for each other in favor of their friendship with seokyong.
Then we learned that ikjun has always been a party goer, girls chase him, even the woman that became his wife. And songhwa for sure started to date other men. I totally forgot that she had a boyfriend back in episode 1, and only remembered when I rewatched it.
Both of them were in relationships at the start of this drama but it wasn't shown how devastated they were when they broke up. By the middle, it seems the show is slowly building up ikjun and songhwa, with the season finale showing ikjun confessing to songhwa. It was the perfect timing as there really are no more obstacles to their relationship.

Actually in that flashback scene, it’s implied Ikjun is the one that asked “let’s meet up”, because her reply is something like - “sure, let’s meet up”..... but then Ikjun didn’t expect to be consoling SeokHyung. So he replied back “never mind. Sorry. I’ll see you later”. So he changes his mind as he sees how his friend is suffering. Then after SeokHyung leaves you know Ikjun is also crushed because he stays and drinks by himself. But he doesn’t tell that part to SongHwa when he mentions how he knew that SH confessed his feelings to SongHwa 20 years ago.

Remember the scene where ikjun said to seokhyeong that if he wasnt her boss and things werent complicated, he would have dated minha. ? I feel like ikjun was talking to himself. If seokhyeong did not confess to songhwa and complicate things, ikjun and songhwa would have been a happily married couple with uju as depicted in previous episodes. So Ikjun decided to confess to songhwa so he can live life knowing his love has been heard. But the way he told songhwa assured her that no matter what happens, he will still be a friend to her.
Ps. I kinda like how songhwa rejects guys immediately by telling outright, stopping the confession and kept blocking every opportunity for romance but with ikjun, she is always speechless and took the time to think about the confession.
This is my ult-favé love confession scene so far, everthing was so beautiful and realistic. Ikjun hesitance tone, Seonghwa startled reaction, the silent, the breath, the shoulders touch, the sea, the wind that I can feel it blew around them, everything.

1) She once said that she always laugh at his joke.

I feel that the build up to this confession makes sense. It's so realistic that this situation happens a lot in real life: Friends miss out on each other because of another friend, they lose each other and date someone else but the feelings are still there, no matter how small. Ik Jun is too good of a man. He respected his friend after knowing he failed to date Song Hwa and he kept the boundary there. He got married and had a son, then he had a divorce and after 20 years of hiding his feelings, he showed it. No regrets. Man how much mental strength does it take to do it like Ik jung. I've been in this situation before so I know exactly how tough it is. I respect this man so much, so does Song Hwa. She's incredibly forgiving.

We excitedly waited for 1 year just to hear a "NO" from songhwa. I felt betrayed by the writers 💔😅

she didn't say no. she just avoided the question/confession. she was confused that time... I'm glad hanyang came in the picture and told his story which resembles iksong's story.. it was a wake up call for her. and I'm also glad she's taking baby steps in finding out her true feelings for Ikjun. Like what she said "let the nature take its course." 🥰

"but if i chicken out AGAIN, i will regret it for the rest of my life" i think by that time songhwa should've known that ikjun was once about to confess but just couldn't find the right timing. his dialogue here clearly shows that he's afraid to loose her again. this is the most realistic confession for real. i mean i wouldn't have known what confession should a 40 y.o guy make. no cheesy scenes, just realistic romance story. im cheering for both of them. i really cant wait for the complicated moments they have to face during their upcoming love story. and also, what their first kiss scene will be like sdkskdskdksksd
Everything in this show was so realistic. When i watch this show, it makes me realise that it never gets easier to say these types of things...
They're the definition of a good slow burn...we didn't get song hwa pov so I hope the writers won't rush them, I'm pretty confident that they're gonna be the endgame but I hope they take time. 20 years of friendship is no joke, we need to see song hwa's past pov and how she'll come to terms with everything... take your time babies
Maybe Ikjun was Song Hwa's first love. And then he got married and had Uju. It must've been difficult for Song Hwa to accept it, and so she put away her feelings. And now Ikjun confessed his love for Song Hwa. I think the reason why she's taking time is because, she put away those feelings that she had for Ikjun years ago. In her heart she had already accepted the fact that Ikjun is married and has a kid. So I think it will be difficult for her to accept his sudden confession.
But what I like about Ikjun is that he is not rushing her and giving her time to think about it.
Let's hope for the best. I just want the best for Song Hwa and I will respect her decision, no matter who she chooses.
She never rejected him. The scene where she is having coffee with one of her patient's brother, shows that she never answered his question. She said it's better if we stay as friends as it would be awkward because they have been friends for 20 years and suddenly, he's dropped this confession on to her. She never said she didn't like him and doesn't reciprocate his feelings for her, she said that 'it would be better if they stayed as friends'. She actually realises this when she's having a conversation with her patient's brother, who actually fell for his own friend who he has known for years and he realised that he answered in a similar manner saying 'its better for us to stay as friends' and that's when he knew that he didn't answer the actual question.
We should have gotten their endgame in season 1 after Ikjun liked her for 20 years.

I respectfully disagree. I think that it's just right that they didn't became a couple this season. We only know about Ikjun's POV. We need Songhwa's as well in order for us to see the layers of their story. They need to compell us viewers and that this story arc makes us anticipate for the second season :D

what i like about ikjun's confession is he built it up. i also liked that he was going away after this confession for 2 months(?), giving time for songhwa to think about it, but at the same time not pressuring her to meet him as he is her best friend. i just like that there was an 'out' for songhwa after the confession if she ever felt negative about it.
i will never shut up about this scene ugh best scene from the best drama iksong rights coming for season 2 in spring!!

This scene for some reason teared my heart apart... He's been in love with her for 20 years, but can't seem to find the right time to confess because he doesn't want to ruin their friendship, yet he takes this risk at doing so. But the thing is, I used to ship her with her trainee/intern, after this, I'm torn apart, I don't know anymore...
I started tearing up during this scene bc I really felt for Ikjun and for some reason, I was expecting that she would reject him. Remember, we haven't seen everything about their past yet. They may have loved each other back then, but we're not completely sure if Songhwa still feels that way about him. I hope that Season 2 covers more of Songhwa's side of the story. I'm still rooting for them, even if they don't end up together in the end.

I love how unpredictable Songhwa's reaction and can be interpreted in different ways. Maybe it's because we haven't seen her side in the story yet.
