Fun fact: When you walk across an area of a road or highway in Canada that isn't designated as a legal path to cross them , that's illegal. There's no part of the Charter of Rights about the Right to Freedom of Expression or the Right to Assembly that says anything like "Canadians while living and travelling in Canada have the right to assemble and right to freedom of expression on highways and roadways" and nor does the highway traffic act cover assembly and expression. Also: It does say that for Freedom of Assembly that if two or more persons are gathered in an area for the same common purpose engage in any activity that may make persons in the area feel unsafe, it then becomes an unlawful assembly - I'm paraphrasing here but you get the idea.

Of all the 401 overpasses this is the one that's closest to the most Jewish residents. I would've liked the journalists to ask why this specific overpass was chosen. If they were interested in getting the most visibility from vehicular traffic, for example, then the Keele overpass is probably the best option because the 400 merges there. So why Avenue Rd? And I'm not exactly sure what they're intending to accomplish overseas by protesting here. Realistically, Canada is powerless to effect any result in this conflict. If they truly care about the lives of Palestinians then maybe they should be advocating for Hamas to drop their weapons, release the people they've kidnapped, and make a genuine attempt to negotiate mutually beneficial terms of peace. But I think we know they're not genuinely interested in peacefully coexisting with Jews.

Freedom of speech should never factor in more than safety and the ability for people to move & get around the city. If this group wants to protest and be heard go to Ottawa & do it outside Trudeaus front door.
