    I bought the acrylic template off you Jo and I’m in the process of making this. All I can say is you make it look easy!! ❤

      It takes a bit of practice to get used to making these, but you will get there 👍

    Love how in depth you show the detail, especially for the stitching! Would love if you could post unedited cuts of tutorials so we could see every step even more fully

    If you pre-stretch the inner leather slightly before gluing on the foam, the final look is better because it doesn't have those fine wrinkles in it from being compressed in a curve. When I was making a similar product, I would tack down the inner cowhide to the work bench with the grain (head to tail) running crosswise to the strap. The direction is important because it allows any needed stretch or compression around the curves of the outer piece to conform better without wrinkles. The outer piece you want the head to tail direction running the length of the strap for strength so it doesn't stretch. You don't have to tack it down though, you can just lay one end of the foam down and hold it while you stretch the leather and then push own the foam. Either way it gives it a nice finish. Your glue looked interesting there. It didn't look like the normal contact cement. What kind of glue was it? Nice job overall though I really like your demonstration of the saddle stitch and you had a very nice edge finish 😉👍

    Old Leather Smith here. Very good work as always. Suggestions, I use a product called Wool Felt 4 padding and protection, example baseball gloves, dog collars, and padding 4 hockey goalies. When I install a buckle I always use a Chicago screw or 2 Incase the buckle is ever broken it's very easy 2 repair. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃

    On a completely unrelated topic ... I was trying to figure out how to do a padded shoulder strap for a bag I made ... I used woven paracord for extensions of the strap, but just couldn't nail down a decent pad design ... now I have one .. Thank You!!!

    You make it look so easy! I very much admire your work (leather and video...) Did you change your glue? I seem to remember yellow glue in a rather well-used container?

    • @JHLeather
      @JHLeather  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I am now using ecostick as it is a healthier glue to be around 👍

    Hello on the website will there be a option for custom templates as I preference for bigger mastiff collars and constantly replacing paper patterns

    • @JHLeather
      @JHLeather  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, there are custom options on the website for shaped collars but if you'd like a standard straight template we can sort something. Email me on info@jhleather.co.uk with what you are looking for and we can go from there 👍

    I know you have been asked this umpteen times but I am too lazy to look back, but what glue do you use again? I think it's a bostik brand.
    Thanks for another useful tutorial 😊

    • @JHLeather
      @JHLeather  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have used bostik 6092 in the past but am now using ecostick 1816 👍

    Ive never heard of a hound collar. Those are huge. Is a hound collar bigger than a dog collar ?

    • @JHLeather
      @JHLeather  ปีที่แล้ว

      For a hound type dog like a greyhound, whippet ect they tend to have these larger shaped collars, well they do in the UK anyway. They are just shaped but can be made to any size really to suit all sizes of dogs.
