"Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt faced an unusually testy interview Wednesday with Fox News’s Ed Henry about one of the official’s most recent alleged ethical infractions.
The Atlantic reported this week that the EPA used its authority under the Safe Drinking Water Act to give two of Pruitt’s closest aides big pay bumps after the White House declined to authorize raises.
In a heated exchange, Henry pressed Pruitt on why he bypassed the White House to get a total of $84,000 to two staffers who have worked with him since he was attorney general of Oklahoma. Pruitt said he only found out about the salary decision Tuesday and didn’t know who made the decision.
“You don’t know? You run the agency. You don’t know who did this?” Henry asked.
“I found out about this yesterday, and I corrected the action,” Pruitt said.”*

What's hilarious is fox talking about the median income in the US (which was still an inflated figure).

Narwhocalypse - Median incomes are always inflated because of the huge difference between an average person's income and those in the top bracket. In the US, it's inflated far more than in most other countries. Take away the top 1% in the US and you'd see the median income drop like a boulder.
Their false outrage about lavish raises is so ridiculous. Maybe they were insulted that it was less than a million.
CLureCo I live in Alabama, and I'm not sure where you got your numbers from. Top result in Google gave a realistic ~$41k/yr for a family. Median is actually the fairest [simple] statistical metric you can use (I don't think the plurality of the population is going to understand what standard deviation is. Heck people have to be reminded that "mean" = "average"). It shows that half of people make more than X and half of people make less than X. Nothing fishy about that
MuttonChopRed I'm honestly not sure how I did that :/ CLureCo and other commenters in this thread are basically suggesting that using the mean income instead of the median income would be a better statistical metric for determining the economic health of our country. The problem with that is when you're using the mean income, the top 1% has influence over the result (something that doesn't happen when using median income since they're such a small number of people). For clarity, according to Census Bureau, the mean household income in the US is ~$72k, while the median household income is ~$59k. Which of these numbers to you feel is more representative of American families?

Somebody is going to give Fox News credit for this "hard-hitting" interview and point to it every time someone says they are biased but never look at the context Cenk points out or the fact that it's a token bit of actual journalism for Fox News. Which is not to say that most hosts don't soft shoe it so the guest will be willing to come on but as far as Fox News is concerned unless it's Shep Smith or Chris Wallace Republicans get handled with kid gloves.
The sad thing is it's not just the Trump administration, they are just so terribly obvious with it. I wish there still trusted investigative journalists out there who cracked stories like this regardless of which side of the aisle. Even if there were still reporters like that the television and print news is bought by corporations and partisans who either care only for profits and propaganda not informing the public.

The problem with TYT is that this organization has no idea what its talking about when it comes energy. All of their information comes from second hand sources of major media, in which the viewers simply hear an opinionated discussion. That's not what reporting or journalism is about. Even more frustrating is this channel consistently refuses to understand the full scope of complex topics like energy. I am especially concerned this week, because there is a massive story that progressives have yet to talk about.
This entire week we have heard nothing but Pruitt stories, and how he is currently and has been in bed with industry. This is story that's fun and easy to discuss and attack the Trump administration, but in reality NONE of Pruitt's actions this year are as damming to the country as what has happened this week.
Earlier this week, First Energy Solutions filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and announced that they would need to sell assets which would include early decommissions of Perry and Davis-Besse Nuclear Generating Plants in Ohio by 2021 and Beaver Creek Nuclear Generating Plant in Pennsylvania by 2020.
Now why is this important? These three reactors generate 31 TWh of electricity for the PJM grid that includes Ohio, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey. These three reactors produce more electricity than ALL solar and wind energy put on the grid over the last 30 years. It is impossible to replace this amount of energy in three years with renewables, which means that up to 95% of this energy will be replaced with natural gas making it unequivocally impossible for the PJM grid to meet carbon emission standards over the next 25 years. Pruitts entire career pales in comparison to the annual emissions of 31TWh of natural gas.
And yet not only has TYT never talked about this, but not a single major progressive channel has talked about the environmental fallout of this news.
So why do I hate TYT, because they don't actually report the important news. They are too busy making soundboard jokes about Pruitt's stay in house. These stories are not helpful and actually hinder the general public's education of critical current events.
