Boy o boy does this bring back some memories!! As a kid, my friends and I practically lived outdoors all summer long. We'd be out in the woods and creeks and ponds having fun. everyone carried a fishing pole with them and it was almost always catch and cook when you got a good mess of bluegills! We never did fillets but just like you, heads off, guts out and scaled. cooked over an open fire ( we never thought to bring a pan along!) and eaten with just a dab of salt. And you're right about the tail, crispy like a potato chip!!! Thanks for making my day today!
Sounds fun. I am so glad there weren't video games back in the day and for some of us not even TV. Life was so good! And we ate the bass at any size!
The tails off of fish with seasoning on them are the best. Better than potato chips and all that stuff.
I miss being a kid.....use to fish the brooks and rivers for trout and I have so many fond memories. Nice video. Living the life with nature is awesome for kids and of course, the whole family.
So much fun. Houston, here's a fire starting tip. Take a cotton ball, one or more, and smother it in Vaseline and put it in a sealed baggie or small container. Take the cotton ball out of the container and put it in the bottom middle of the wood pile and it will fire right up when you put the match flame to it. (But only do it when there are adults with you.) Safety first!
Always fun to watch your family on the creek. That Houston wants to eat every fish he catches. I like it. All those "catch and releasers" are helping folks like Houston eat good.lol

What an awesome video. Have many memories of fishing with the family when I was Houston's age. And yes my mom would do the same thing, catch the fish then tell me to reel it in.

This is a 3 part reply. 1st you need to do a catch clean and cook on a cpl dozen snowflakes. 2nd bear is the man he is a cool dog. And 3rd you spending time with your family is priceless. They grow so fast and one morning you wake up and they are gone and it seemed like yesterday they were just babies. Love them like there is no tomorrow. I admire you as a husband and a father.

That perch looked delish!!! We used to catch them from a pond & they were huge, they became my favy fresh fish to eat, crappie got 2nd place. That looked like a good, wholesome snack straight from God. Houston will never go hungry, nor will Emily. Good job parents!!!! Living off the land as God intended. Its beautiful.

Daniel, this reminds me of my childhood. Our family fished every weekend and caught, crappie, brim and largemouth bass. We ate fresh fish every weekend. I enjoyed the fishtails as well, lol but my favorite part was fish eggs!! We made a skillet or cornbread and coleslaw from cabbage grown in our large vegetable garden. I had the best childhood ever! Watching your videos brings back sweet, sweet memories for me. Love your family! ❤️

I miss fishing. My dad was a sportsman and loved all kinds of hunting and fishing just like ya'll. One year he took my brother and I to Lake Texoma and we caught so much Croppy we ended up giving them to the maid at our motel because we couldn't keep them good until we went home on Sunday. We went back and caught a huge mess of them again the next night and took those home and cleaned them. I have a picture somewhere which when I find it I will share with you. It was so much fun. I even got my pigtail caught in my reel and reeled my pole clear up to my head. Boy I tell you, my dad was not happy with me. He wanted to cut my hair. Glad my step-mom was there she got me untangle from my reel. Giggling the whole time at me. Cheers!

My father loved blue gills. I love bass. Krappies only run at certain times of the year? I can see Houston on Spring break in college, rushing home to saying come on Dad let’s go do a catch clean and cook. Houston loves fish. Emily is so cute, she a hunter. I found you guys through Facebook, and I seen your “they didn’t expect this in a minnow trap” video that you guys posted on Facebook, and I was scrolling through Facebook videos and stumbled across that one, I fell in love with you and your family right away, I love how down to earth all of you are, and how cute Houston is, and how much you are teaching them to hunt and fish. I wish I had found you guys sooner but I sat and I binged watched a lot of your videos and I just want to say, keep doing what your doing, cause I enjoy watching and appreciating your family so much ❤️ I enjoy, fishing and hunting myself, my step father taught me how to fish and taught me how to hunt as well and I will never forget those memories or the lessons, cause now I know how to do both!!! what a good dad, we are just about to fish some of our stock catfish, been waiting 3 years!
Danial, Houston & family, love your channel. I have a tip for you on how to debone all those small fish. This was from an article I read years ago in Field & Stream. Scale and clean all your fish, while you are doing this put on a pot of water and bring to a hard boil. Have you a pot of ice water ready also. If you have it us a fry basket to put your fish in, put them in the hard boiling water for EXACTLY 90 seconds. Lift them out of the boiling water and put them in the ice water. This blanches the meat, you can take a butter knife and lift the top fin out, there will be a channel where it came out, place your butter knife in here and you can just lift the meat off both sides of the bones. I have been doing this for 30 years and it works great. You can season and coat the fish and fry them or put them in the freezer for a later date. Thank you for sharing this, Sir, i loved watching it. Seeing Jemma and Bella made me smile, esplly when i saw Jemma swimming and winning a race against Bella! I really love seeing Jemma. And it was so nice how you prepared those small fishes. Here, we don't cut the head off bcz it contains a lot of vitamins, too. Just like it's tail, the head can be eaten the same way you do with the tail, just fry it well.
