good to see that ss13 is still the largest source of evidence of "yes you do need escape pods, this whole shuttle thing doesn't work"
90% of my pod evacs end positively and comfy, kicking back with a buddy, passing a bottle of Uncle Gits back and fourth while smoking our fancy spess vapes and listening to the comms as the rest of the crew screams.
90% of my shuttle evacs end in absolute catastrophe and spessing.
Escape pods make quarantine harder.
Honestly this is proof of why you don't need escape pods since xenos are considered a biohazard
Maybe if the escape pods didn't work during a biohazard so there's no breaking of quarantine

Honestly it is very good except there is one problem I see with this “perfect” organism
They need hosts to reproduce, this is a flaw because in evolution they could just as easily reproduce without hosts at all, they could just skip the facehugger stage peried, this will remove the faster evolving but will drastically increase reproduction rates

On the one hand, aliens on regular stations are extremely powerful. On the other, lasers are really powerful against them. I remember in the very old days on CM, marines would beeline for the Armory to grab laser rifles because they could kill xenos so fast. But you had to do it secretly, because it counted as "metagaming."

The marines IC aren't meant to know they're gonna meet xeno resistance
@@Bifurdoggo It is, but at that point in time marines hardly stood a chance because they didn't even have grenades or proper barriers. It's much better balanced now.
kinda is and kinda isnt metagaming, is if your in the mindset “we’re under attack” isnt if your in yhe mindset “grab some gear just in case”
@@randomperson4989 they're not expecting resistance roundstart and they're already armed pretty heavily. only reason to go grab laser weapons would be if you know what the threat is, which is metagaming until you've actually encountered them

After looking at the suggestions for a xenos update we have decided to disable them forever.

Oranges is a great balancer
The main problem is hugger combat sucks. CM is literally dedicated to aliens v humans with minimal hugger combat

God I wish all alien queens would be as good as you, most first aliens pick warrior or something and ruin the antag roll

i really hope that someday someone will remake space station 13 on a new game engine but keep it as it is just allow more and to run faster.

Part of the charm is in the horrible engine, for me at least.

SS13 is one of those games that has the chance to last a century, like Dwarf Fortress. Might as well try and save it now.
SS14 is actually pretty good, it's getting updates and gonna be like ss13 in the future hopefully, but right now it's still fun, and way more playable than the janky ss13 we know

What crew could have done to counter this? Besides obvious stuff like not fighting xeno alone.
The attempted plasma flood at 5:25 would have been lethal if he had gotten the container open sooner and closer to the queen. If the queen goes down, all of the xenos are are inflicted with several minutes of game-enforced retardation and are easy pickings.
But at the end of the day, xenos are overpowered and almost always take the station over. Multiple insta-stuns, space immunity, high speed, rapid regeneration, dark vision and are basically zombies. If a crew member defeats a xeno, there is one less of them. If a xeno defeats a crew member, there is one less crew member and one more xeno.
On the other hand there's the starting xenos that don't pick drone or queens that run into combat and won't give up bases even if someone maxcaps
If crew has a competent roboticist, xenos are easy.
Riot gear and borgs
Xenos are primarily a snowballing faction.
You can easily destroy a tiny little snowball.
If you let the snowball get too big, then you're just going to get crushed pathetically.
It takes quite a bit of time for the facehugger to implant a humanoid (a stolen monkey at the beginning of the round in this case) with a larva and for the larva to grow and chestburst its way out, followed by the growth period of the larva before it can evolve into a T1 alium.
As soon as the station was alerted to the presence of aliens by the AI, they should be hunting this thing down quickly before they can multiply in numbers and cascade out of control.
Of course, this isn't as easy anymore because of the nature of Dynamic Rounds in /tg/station where there's almost always multiple threats ongoing at the same time as opposed to what it was like in the past where a single major threat was chosen for a round - if aliens were rolled to be the antagonist, then there weren't going to be any tots or wizards or ninjas; barring admeme interference, it was only going to be aliens until the round ended. It was easier to delegate the entire station once everybody knew what the round's antag was.

And they don't get knocked down or stunned. They are ridiculously powerful in a game where effective lethals are rare.

@@kingsuperbobboy I played early CM when there were no grenades and it was exceptionally difficult for marines. Let me tell you, it's really balanced now.
