Hey man, a few notes.
The video picture is signaling "autogenerated", don't use gen AI, it's not just tasteless, it's even downplayed by the algo.
The sloppy diagrams, e.g. both sides have OLTP label below on the one in the beginning.
On substance.
olTp, it's about TRANSACTIONS, it's a daybook+journal - compliance, accuracy, integrity, transparency, it's a mutex.
olAp, it's about DECISIONS, it's a ledger+aggregates, it doesn't need transactions, it's a read/write lock.
Cubes are dea.. ok, not quite.
It's an artifact from the times of slow machines and managerial revolutions, they had to pre-compute "what the C-suite may want to know" and store half-baked components.
ETL, however, is a pain for everyone - clerks not guessing correctly, CEO not having reports on time. So big data on commodity replaced them with first delta, then streaming, rendering pre-aggregation useless and being one of the factors enabling JIT.
Then there's the holy grail, the unicorn, HTAP. Won't fly, but hey, the suits can dream, we can charge and surf the next hype wave.
