If you look at beginning of video you can see Valeer Sanguinar and Broll Bearmantle, a Blood elf and Night elf from the time in which King Varian Wrynn (aka Lo'Gosh) along with Valeera Sanguinar and Broll Bearmantle were captured by orcs and forced to into gladiator competition. Valeer Sanguinar being one of his closest friends from those days.

I have been away from WoW for years and after coming to the cinematic at Fordragon it just ... died since the following quests chains were removed. Seemed like I had to miss out on some crucial and very immersive Lore, but thanks to this video I still have an impression of what happens after. Thanks again!
I think that all of their voice acting has. At least we don't have Jaina saying her Warcraft III line. "I hate resorting to violent." Too long of a combat line.
1. After the lordaeron humans died, their souls became corrupt so they were no longer themselves. You cease to be yourself when you are not you anymore. 2. When you die, you lose all property. The forsaken are destroying the balance of nature by practicing undeath. They don't deserve to live for the crimes of humanity they commited 3. The moment the forsaken joined sylvanas was the moment they lost all rights. Sylvanas had no claim to Lordaeron because she's an elf from quel'thalas.
I assume you never got to take place in this... After the whole Wrathgate incident, we originally had to take Bolvar's shield to Varian. He got pissed the hell off and sent Jaina and the player to Orgrimmar to ask Thrall what happened. Thrall tells you that the Forsaken lost the Undercity, so Varian decides to try and capture it for the Alliance. This video is the result of his decision.
This was a great time to be an Alliance player. A lot of warcraft nerds were waiting for this to happen for a long time. Of course blizzard didnt really deliver like we hoped. None the less was cool.
***** And a small group of my friends killed all the leaders of the alliance the other night including any player foolish enough to stand in our way. All undead too. I was hoping for a real challenge though, pity.

Weird that he chose his monologue to be a sob story about his kidnapping and forced fights in the arena... and Thrall didn't say anything in retort. Despite he was raised as a slave since birth and didn't know freedom or even his people's language or customs until he was already an adult. And he was taught warfare by humans... I don't think Thrall was too impressed by Varian's grandstanding. But eh, Thrall dropped his balls ever since WoW started anyway. So maybe he was.
@Deathopschubb it's because of the comics it follows it, in the beginning i don't know, he got seperated from his body creating 2 varians, each of them wielding a sword, 1 of them was the intelligent and charming side of him, the other the fearsome and strong, while facing onyxia they melt together again, which the swords also do, hence the 2hander instead of the 1 handers ;) dunno if i miss something but it's a half year since i read the comics xD
Arthas was a paladin trained by Uther and childhood friends with King Varian. And the son of the king of lordaeron, hub of the alliance, so yes, Arthas was an alliance member.
@VolcanicLink No, that was the ORCISH Horde's work. The Orcish Horde consisted of the orcs who had succumbed to Mannoroth's blood. The Horde is now completely and unequivocally different, and Varian is too pig-headed to see that, much like the rest of the Alliance.
Fail attempt to get thumbs up, but I still am proud of what they did. I play both horde and alliance characters, still the Undead are my favorite. I would've loved for the Forsaken to losen up from the horde and go for themselves. Putric (I think?) was a great role-model for the forsaken.

i just watched that and i have to agree. i nearly bawled! it should be noted that varian only re-declared war on the horde because he believes that some of thier allies are dangerous and could backstap at any moment. like whenever a troll or undead sneaks up and ganks me when i busy reading me quest log ^^ orcs and taurens? never had a real problem!
SPOILER ALERT Varian nickname is Lo'gosh, Goldrinn’s favored champion. he was unable to control his own rage he even hurt his own son ( he was angry and it was accident ), happen at the summit of the alliance when the worgen try to join the alliance once again. Varian and Garrosh dueled in the book "Wolfheart." They were both about equally strong, but Garrosh got tired while Varian kept going. So they're both as strong as each other, but Garrosh gets tired easier.

Yeah, they made new forsaken out of necessity, but that doesn't change that all the Forsaken existing between Frozen Throne and WotLK were the humans of Lordaeron, so they can still be easily considered the major part of the Forsaken.
@RudyfulDeBeautiful Varian is quite smart actually if you read the comic he is actually a master tactician when he helps the Silver Sentinels fight off the Warsong. Also Varian is as diplomatic as Thrall its just thrall has Garrosh always picking a fight with Varian and Thrall is still using Orgrim Doomhammer's Armor and a weapon that symbolizes him. They actually had much in common Thrall and Varian they got along well until the Twilight Hammer ruined it. Varian is far from mindless.
they are trying to portray garrosh and varian in the same light: eager for war. while varian is given a very radical judicial view for war, and garrosh is just bloodlust.
1. Garona was under the influence of Guldan, who was part of the old horde. 2. Doomhammer was the leader of the old horde. 3. Because he obvious loves being forced to fight and not look after his kingdom. 4. I like how you know alot about Varian /sarcasm.
Llane was assassinated by Garona under the influence of the Shadow council tho. And Thrall was raised as a gladiator by humans. Also, the horde destroyed Stormwind while under the effect of the demon blood. On top of that, Thrall always tried to find peace, or at the bare minimum, a non-aggression-treaty. So, what else do you have for Varian to defend his hatred? All of these things I pointed out are known to all in-game NPCs.
Just a heads up for everyone: this part of the quest chain is being removed in Cataclysm, so if you want to experience it for yourself, make sure you do so before 4.0.
She has your reasons. I'm pretty sure I would be a prick after having my people, siblings, and land ravaged, being stabbed in the stomach and used as a slave for years, and then still having to live with the plague of undeath after "liberation".
Plus, nor Sylvanas or the Val'kyr mind-control anyone, the Forsaken ressurected in that way have free will and can do whatever they want of their undeath. Even those ressurected in the field of battle, while they fight in prey of some sort of "berserk state" due to such an abrupt "revival", when the battle is over they regain their senses and are free to join the Forsaken or leave.
@spownkie Lore-wise, I imagine he should have started with the single sword when we first saw him in-game (as Onyxia is gone), but the comics didn't all release before Wrath, so I guess that's the reason. I did start reading the comics (though I haven't got to that part of the story yet, but no worries about spoilers). Does he ever actually wield both swords before they're combined?

She is a close friend of Varian. When he was help captive and forced to fight in arena's against Orc's, he met Valeera and they became close.

Varian and Garrosh dueled in the book "Wolfheart." They were both about equally strong, but Garrosh got tired while Varian kept going. So they're both as strong as each other, but Garrosh gets tired easier.
He was injured but not killed. Also Varian is a fool for giving the Horde a new warchief and not taking advantage of the Horde's defeat.

Sylvanas is just the leader, and the Forsaken follow her willingly, recognizing her as their leader.
Yeah, they made new forsaken out of necessity, but that doesn't change that all the Forsaken existing between Frozen Throne and WotLK were the humans of Lordaeron, so they can still be easily considered the major part of the Forsaken.
@RudyfulDeBeautiful Varian is quite smart actually if you read the comic he is actually a master tactician when he helps the Silver Sentinels fight off the Warsong. Also Varian is as diplomatic as Thrall its just thrall has Garrosh always picking a fight with Varian and Thrall is still using Orgrim Doomhammer's Armor and a weapon that symbolizes him. They actually had much in common Thrall and Varian they got along well until the Twilight Hammer ruined it. Varian is far from mindless.
I like how when it's Horde-side, it's just Thrall and Sylvanas, and when it's Alliance, It's just Varian, Broll, and what's her face. Oh and Jaina.
they are trying to portray garrosh and varian in the same light: eager for war. while varian is given a very radical judicial view for war, and garrosh is just bloodlust.
I think she hates resorting to violence.
1. Garona was under the influence of Guldan, who was part of the old horde.
2. Doomhammer was the leader of the old horde.
3. Because he obvious loves being forced to fight and not look after his kingdom.

Llane was assassinated by Garona under the influence of the Shadow council tho. And Thrall was raised as a gladiator by humans. Also, the horde destroyed Stormwind while under the effect of the demon blood. On top of that, Thrall always tried to find peace, or at the bare minimum, a non-aggression-treaty. So, what else do you have for Varian to defend his hatred? All of these things I pointed out are known to all in-game NPCs.

As some have said, to clarify, this quest is available until the actual world changes, which will take place with patch 4.0.3a.
Maybe, but it's Blizzard's character. They can say that Varian and Garrosh is in a romance if they want.

Just a heads up for everyone: this part of the quest chain is being removed in Cataclysm, so if you want to experience it for yourself, make sure you do so before 4.0.

I'm pretty sure I would be a prick after having my people, siblings, and land ravaged, being stabbed in the stomach and used as a slave for years, and then still having to live with the plague of undeath after "liberation".
Plus, nor Sylvanas or the Val'kyr mind-control anyone, the Forsaken ressurected in that way have free will and can do whatever they want of their undeath. Even those ressurected in the field of battle, while they fight in prey of some sort of "berserk state" due to such an abrupt "revival", when the battle is over they regain their senses and are free to join the Forsaken or leave.
Thrall was seriously concerned for his people after his confrontation with Varian. Varian, on the other, seems to only care about vengeance.

Lore-wise, I imagine he should have started with the single sword when we first saw him in-game (as Onyxia is gone), but the comics didn't all release before Wrath, so I guess that's the reason. I did start reading the comics (though I haven't got to that part of the story yet, but no worries about spoilers). Does he ever actually wield both swords before they're combined?

actually, Arthas also wanted revenge! Even if it looked he wanted to save his people, he wanted to kill the dreadlord who destroyed so many lives more then anything else. He even sacrificed his own men.
