Es2 looks better. I think stellaris would beat it if the artwork was bigger. Like the hero’s look so cool in es2. The art in both is great but I feel like stellaris UI holds the art back.
Stellaris probably plays better in every way. But like the first time you play crusader kings, and you want to attack someone and it won’t let you, the casus beli system is frustrating. I also like in stellaris, it feels like there’s a bigger story. The pop ups, and choices, and random events.
Es2 is cheaper. I have every DLC for stellaris. But on console. And they are behind PC on updates by a full year. But I can’t spend 100$ to buy stellaris on PC. Especially when I already have on console. Es2 with DLC is 25$ right now.

Endless Space 2 is more "grounded to reality". It's surreal. So beautiful. So much that I don't want to ruin any planet (I'm that annoying environmentalist that leaves a desert world the way it is because I like to imagine how people would colonize such a planet.) Stellaris is where the real conquest begins. You'll understand the scale when the empire reaches Kardashev 3. Interdimensional invasion, Virtual Worlds, Alderson Disk, The Birch World. It's ridiculous. xD

The biggest difference is, Stellaris have a truth living space where you are constantly in with moving ships, space aliens, traders, space stations, combat etc.. If you find anomalys or events you can zoom into the specific system and truly watch it. You can build stations, megastructures and truly watch it how they build and how they work after it.
Endless Space 2 is more a game board like Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 where you and the enemy place ship imaginations around systems. Mostly everything are only imaginations, also the star systems itself. The only situation to get into the real space are the short combat cutscenes or these cutscenes when you destroying planets and stars. So in reality its also not realy the truth space.

    I have played both.
What I like about Stellaris is that I can spent my time staring at a planet, a ship, a megastructure. The allowance to customize your species, your empire, is what makes it very diverse.
But ES2 has some very deep and interesting stories, events, and almost every species has its background. Even the most insignificant species have their own uniqueness. And of course, the soundtrack and the OST, ES2 is so much better at this.

I hated them Endless Space 1 dreadnoughts that had huge amounts of defence and healing. Whole fleet can't destroy such ship, no matter what kind of weapons you had, if the defending ship was couple of techs higher than your fleet. And AI made plenty of them. No matter if your empire was 3X bigger and stronger, defence-dreadnoughts ate all your fleets.

I think the biggest glaring differences between the games is the combat systems and the "end turn" style of ES2. The combat is probably the biggest turn off of ES2 for me. I wish we could have ES2 but with Sins of a Solar Empire combat or something. The presetting tactics then auto resolve or watch the video is pretty lackluster.

Stellaris is just the beginning of Intergalactic Strategy PC Games. Endless Space 2 continues it in an advanced approach.
Batman: Alfred, status report on the fleet.
Alfred: Sir, Tony Stark's fleet has been utterly destroyed. No losses from our side.
Batman: Proceed to destroying Thanos and his Armada.
Alfred: Sir, it isn't just Thanos. The Apocalyptic fleet of Apokolips led by Darkseid has approached our fleets. They are already assaulting our front lines. What are your orders, sir?
Batman: Pull in the reserves and call in the rest of our allied fleet.
Alfred: The combined forces of Darkseid and Thanos. Never thought I'd see the day.
    Batman: Alfred....
    Alfred: Ah, right away sir!

@@lonerstrategygames4993 Im speaking only in my and my friends experience here but everytime we try to play multiplayer recently the game desyncs which causes you to reload the match. And we arent able to reload the match even after clean installs and the whole shebang. Fun game but for us multiplayer is basically unplayable. It pisses me off most because it doesnt seem to affect some people so if you do try it, i could work just fine.

Stellaris is like the gift that keeps giving when you consider all the DLC, and I agree it has much more depth. It looks like the 3.5 patch is going to give ground combat a major rework. Can't wait for that!
