Excellent resource. Thanks for so generously making it available. Brilliant attention to detail and first class teaching as a result.

This is a fantastic resource, very grateful from a newly qualified level 2 coach. I am looking at ways to deal with the hinge effect so will try this!

Seriously? The video starts and an advertisement for stuffed cheese burgers comes up...even the internet thinks that all props are fat.

Hi, if I could encourage you to watch part 3 where the back 5 is positioned to support the front row, this will start to make more sense. The essence of what I am promoting is the start foot position does not need any adjustment other than a correction forward because of the opposition are unable to hold the squeeze weight the formations will create, in this clinic session there is no time to correct or critique the slight overextension, the whole 8 need to dip, squeeze, react & lockout or drive

We will be filming the 2nd part of this series this Tuesday and will feature the hydraulic scrummage machine pressurising and measuring performance. Please enjoy this free technical scrummage clinic and resource. Do not hesitate to make contact with regards to the availability of more detailed and specific coaching for your teams.

To qualify the intentions of the series, we hope to create a thought-provoking clinic based delivery of knowledge transfer. The basic principles observed in the clinic sessions are at the centre of a more in depth coaching session which expand into greater detail & specificity. The knowledge base has been accumulated from appointments as scrum coach for Kevin Bowring WRU, 99 World Cup USA Eagles, 2000 to 2004 Bath Rugby & Senior coach activities for player and coach development WRU in the 90's

    Hi
You are right to observe that in the next transition from the engagement to the squeeze and preparation for the ball appearing that we should have a loaded leg position not a locked out straight leg, in the delivery of this clinic-based session there is no correction, perfection, 2 of the elements you would bring into a proper coached session,

Some good stuff towards the end but seems to be more an ad for the scrum machine.

i can see the part of scrum 32:27 when they hit the call, i see there's no space for locks, and its shows clearly the 3 in front have no power to remote the first 2sec before ball roll in. Why? Because all their legs, knees are all straight. The problems here, is the props are trying to reset again their position ... hopes this can work, but i thank you for the very good job you did ...

Watching this video at work so no sound . One thing as a prop that strikes me odd as i said no sound so this may be a demonstration of how not to do it but 32.29 Seems as though the legs of the props are behind the hookers leg almost disabling there ability to drive forward without the hookers legs in some way blocking the drive forward and also leaving no room whatsoever for second rows. as a tight head i like to be tight to my hooker but not to the detriment of the freedom of movement of my legs.

Anthony Williams yea I noticed that too... I’ve been told to keep the leg free to allow for forward travel?

Quick question I notice the legs are quite straight post engagement? shouldn't they be more bent?

Is scrum just rugby or is it a variant or even not? (My finger for English since the Brexit)
