You don't have to be a big sports fan to understand that being in the top .05% of your craft in a value-driven entertainment business will command you top dollar. For all the types that make fun of someone who dribbles a basketball for a living, they do not understand that this player Is one of the best 500 people on the planet to do so. In this day and age, with technology and video, there is no such thing as unseen talent. Unless you are a late bloomer there are ways to get your skill in front of people and at the very least get an invite for a workout. Yes they’re overpaid. However, you’re worth whatever the market believes you’re worth. I definitely don’t blame them for getting as much money as possible.
The biggest issue with paying these guys so much is that they have influence. People see these athletes and want to have what they have. As we’ve come to learn, thanks to Spencers videos, its that most of these guys aren’t responsible enough to handle this money. But people don’t see that, all they see is the money and the fame.
Pro athletes have won the genetic AND financial lottery in their life and social media has got regular people thinking they can do the same.

I remember 5 years back there was a Phillies player at a nightclub I was at. He was interested in one of my friends, but she was married. This guy literally paid one of the bartenders who knew her $4k just to get her number and text her. She googled him and learned he had 4 kids and a wife back in the Dominican Republic, but he was offering her money to meet him at a hotel. The reason why people think they are over paid is because some of these athletes get 200mil and still say the teams need to pay them more, while 90% of the population is living off under 40k a year.

As far as I am concerned, professional athletes are overpaid, highly, there should be a cap on all sports, if that cap is to be breached, it should be based on performance and or incentives, all based on sporting speciality of course. This will keep fans tickets at a reasonable price, and even get more fans into stadiums, as well as there will be more money to be spent on investing and in development of sports, as well as there can be investments in minor teams, which can give more persons an opportunity to be sports personalities. Also..no star, none, no matter how good they are, can play on a team by themselves, and thats a simple sporting fact.

This knowledge is applicable in professional sports where revenue is directed by the fans, but the NCAA and federal government have both worked to undermine those market forces in college sports. Out of all the NCAA leagues available, only D-1 Football and D-1 Men's Basketball ever drive sales or attention. Every other NCAA sport and division, including every women's sport, is a loss-leader. Federal and NCAA rules prohibit paying "student athletes" a salary, even if their revenue-generating ability rivals that of professional leagues, while federal law forces the university to subsidize all the loss-leading sports, giving full rides to athletes who couldn't fill a teacup, let alone a stadium.

A few points about the NFL.
The media kicker in the new CBA depends on the size of the TV contracts it isn't a guaranteed 48.5%. It can range from players receiving 48.021% of total revenue if they average $9.932 Billion over the CBA to 48.8% of total revenue if they average $16.185 Billion.
Players receive 55% of League Media revenue not 48%. Players get different shares of revenue depending on the source, it all has to fit into the minimum 48% maximum 48.5% of "total revenue" however.
The Packers most recent report was for the 2019-2020 season. Their total revenue was $507 with $296 million in national revenue and $211 million in local revenue. The Packers had the 9th highest revenue in the league for the 2019-2020 season. Their report for the 2020-2021 season will be out in July,2021.
