I already spent hours OBSESSIVELY looking over the last videos, and now THIS is going to keep me hooked all day too! I already know I'm gonna be sinking so much money into this... THE EXCITEMENT IS REAL AGHHH
Good catch! I'm going to note the Section C tile pull in the pinned comment. As I was moving to Section C and speaking to it I just grabbed that tile. A slip on my part and it would have been interesting to see if the Power Generator would have appeared and if not I would have pushed hard with items to get to it to deal with the oxygen issue!
This is a great playthrough to get an understanding of the game before it goes live tomorrow. Thank you. I'm all in on whatever the biggest pledge is! 🎉😊💯
This was super engaging to watch! Having both Nemesis and Lockdown (both all-time favs!) I’m going to do my best to not be tempted to get this as well as I still have more to play through with those games (and paint!) I really do wish the alien races from the other games had the same scale as they do in Retaliation! Here they are much more manageable and fit in with the scale of the rooms etc. I still hope to get a chance to play Retaliation some time in the future.
Hey Karim! I hope so too. I'm sure you will get to it if you're a fan of Nemesis. It's been great hearing that the solo community is enjoying the playthrough. 🔥
Appreciate that my friend! It was fun and that’s exactly what I want in a game. I’m excited for the campaign too. It’s a must have for me and I think they’ll add more layers to it as well. The fine tuning will really make it shine.
Very enjoyable to watch. I'm surprised how quickly you run out of oxygen - both characters only just had enough to do what they did before getting into the shuttle. As noted in another comment you shouldn't have drawn a section C tile when you found the reactor so you wouldn't have been in a position to win at that point so I can't imagine how you could've kept going without dying of asphyxiation :) I also find it interesting how much easier they've made it to escape since most noise rolls aren't going to spwan an enemy in the same room as you unlike in the earlier two games - especially if you wait in an escape pod for a friend to join you and they trigger an enemy spawn and pull you out of the escape pod.
Thanks Alan! 👽 The oxygen goes down by one at the end of every turn and as there is multiple turns in a round for the characters it can really drop quite fast. So you have to keep it top of mind in this one or risk dying from it!
Great play through Adam! I did back this one and cant wait for it to ship. As usual, I am very happy to have you helping me with my buying decisions, and as usual, you are not wifey's favorite person today!!
I watched all the videos on my TV. I can't comment from there, but... Really enjoyed watching these videos. The game almost finished too quickly. I don't believe I've ever ended a game of Nemesis that quickly. But I was hooked on this new iteration of the game pretty much from the beginning. So many great new changes. The oxygen usage really changes things and makes for a very tense game. The only thing that has me wondering is the fact that one is seemingly lead around to specific locations, having to do "A's" first, the "B's", then...yeah...that. I hope this is not always the case as I can see it getting very stale and becoming a very quick shelf setter. I don't need to spend tons of $$$ for a shelf setter.
In the final version you’l have a personal mission and the main mission and you can choice when you wish to go after one and one only. Then it gives you a boost on a card draw at that time. So that’s something else different from previous Nemesis games. You decide when vs first appearance of the intruder.
well, sold my internal organs to science.including both lungs..and gone for the full retaliation pledge!..Adams fault for such a persuasive job on the playthrough of the prototype!
A great showcase as always Adam! The Nemesis trilogy really does line up with the Alien movies :P Nemesis = Alien Lockdown = Alien3 Retaliation = Aliens It looks like a great addition to the game family!
I'd say it's quite a few steps up in strategy from Invader but it could certainly be viewed from the combat side in a similar way. Kind of? Zombicide is more entry level in complexity though minus the specific rules per each enemy.
You step into a room. It's the exact room you're looking for. It's broken, but there's a bag of tools sitting right there waiting for you. "Why do I hear boss music...?"
haha It was the best pull of the item deck I've had in awhile and knew no one would believe me. It happened! I don't stage my playthroughs, I just roll with the punches or in this case the gifts! 🎁
This was the best preview so far because you were very mindful of the rules or the lack of answers to some of the rules. Thank you. Are you going to do another play-through with personal goals too?
Thank you so much! I like to give the viewer the best idea possible about the game so I spend more time than others on learning the game. Too many low effort videos out there! I know what I look for so I try to provide that. 😄
Yeah, could definitely notice you spending time on learning the rules. I hope you’ll make another Nemesis: Retaliation video in the future since this one was over pretty quickly.
Question: why was the noise marker removed after pulling the blank? In original and Lockdown you put markers back, and around the surrounding corridors of the room. Was this missed, or is this a new rule?
Hey! Thanks for the question. As per the game rules: “If a player cannot perform any Actions, or chooses to take no Actions in their round, they must pass. If a player performs only 1 Action instead of the required two, they must pass. Any player who already passed cannot perform ANY Actions later during that Phase.” Based on the first sentence you cannot take two actions and Pass. It’s either Pass at the start of your turn or do an action and pass. This is standard across the Nemesis games.
Great playthrough! I really enjoy your videos and your depth of explanation. Another rules question for you... when you rolled for noise for your second character to enter the shuttle, shouldn't the intruder descend into the room you are in making it more difficult to escape?
Appreciate that! I like to ensure people don't get lost in translation while watching my playthroughs. Thanks again :) I'll take a look at your question in a bit. Cheers!
Thanks so much! Happy to know that people are enjoying it. Watch it as many times as needed. I’d say it’s right on par with the other two. It’ll be fun to have all three as options and I think what they added and changed here is quite enough to make it its own unique iteration. I’m sure the campaign will add even more to the whole equation too!
@@RollingSolo cool, Nemesis ended up becoming my favourite board game of all time. I missed both Kickstarters for the first two games so l'm excited to back this campaign so I can finally get some of the exclusive stuff like the medic. I haven’t felt the need to pick up Lockdown yet because it seemed too similar to the original. Glad this one makes more changes to the gameplay. 😃👍🏻
I feel the same way, I have the second nemises, still enjoy playing that, I really think this version had alot more to offer during the campaign, I did miss the kickstarter so I'm hoping for extras for the second nemesis
Nope. It doesn’t give me a dungeon crawl vibe as there are too many ways this can go south and you have to be strategic to win. This one focuses on combat more than the others but it’s still just as strategic. It’s the movie Aliens vs Alien.
It genuinely makes sense that the escape pod would have its own independent oxygen and power source since it's a major life support system. Not trying to make it easier on us players, that just kind of makes sense. *shrug
My latest video mentions it at a high level. STALKER is almost entirely a new experience whereas Nemesis Retaliation is 60% previously covered in the series and 40% new (very rough percentages here). I lean more towards a brand new experience when we’re talking new games. I’m getting both in the end so there’s that. lol
In another playthrough (onestopcoop), they discarded a card to reload ammo or use oxygen from utility belt. They also treated the yellow die that shows up on events as a “danger” roll, meaning they drew for hordes from the bag. Which is the correct way to play it?
The thing to remember here is that this is a prototype. That said, RollingSolo mentions in the first video that all tactical belt items are available to you at all times where OneStop pays to use it I think he is treating it as a "Use Item" action. I'd have to see the rules but I'd lean more toward RollingSolo. As for the "Danger Roll", OneStop specifically drew a card showing Danger and RollingSolo drew events that only said "Perform a Noise Roll" which is different. Hope this helps.
There were several issues with OneStop's playthrough. He replied to me he they didn't send a complete list of rules (?) so he couldn't be sure and check every detail. Here, it seems as if everything is clearly explained and makes sense. Glad to get a really good playthrough this early! 🎉
You don’t discard a card. The tactical belt can be freely used whenever. It’s a tactical belt for a reason. Quick assess to anything on it. Also you have immediate access to whatever is at the top of your ‘bag’. Can you clarify your second question and add some more detail? I’m having a tough time parsing through that one.
Sorry, it was from the first video of your playthrough! I rewatched it at 14:53, I think the card says to ignore noise roll and treat it as if you rolled “danger”. The other playthrough has the same event card. I just couldn’t read the card on my phone screen. Great playthrough! Thanks
Can the robot be destroyed in the game? How’s the suspense feel compared to the origin nemesis? So the guns have infinite ammo. Interesting, at least for certain shoot actions. Do you think the game would be better or worse if the guns only had a certain amount of ammo & you’d have to search/craft/find etc MORE ammo to reload the weapon, after using the Clips?
Nope, the robot is assumed to be solid and guarded enough that the intruders can't destroy it. As of now in the prototype anyway. I'd say it's bang on with the others. It's a roller coaster all the way through of "I'm going to make it" and "I'm going to die any minute" 🤣 Nope! Guns have ammo. You need ammo in a gun to Shoot or Burst. When Shooting you have unlimited ammo (so long as you have a full clip or half clip loaded). When Bursting, you have to have a full or half clip and you either reduce to half or remove the clip completely depending on where it was when you started. Bursting will deplete your ammo fast but it clears hordes in the corridors in greater numbers as it's like shooting fish in a barrel. Shooting so long as you have ammo in the gun is unlimited but takes time because it only happens in rooms and thematically the intruders are tougher to hit in a room than a corridor. Hope this helps!
Hmm I'd say it comes down to whether you prefer managing oxygen vs. power and the movie Aliens vs Alien. At a high level, this will answer your question.
Is there a campaign or is it one-off scenarios w/ random mission goals? If there is a campaign, do we know yet how development works as you progress? (I have not played any of the other Nemesis games)
I believe there will be some sort of campaign? Maybe similar to the comic adventures from previous campaigns. We shall see! In the prior games the comic campaign set you up to go through a narrative as you played through the game. Was quite fun and nothing insane to manage. Just the book and some extra tokens. Will be interesting to see if they do anything like that with this one. 😄
Hmm that’s much much tougher. I think I lean towards the original the most. Nostalgia is likely to blame for that. Lockdown was a perfect 2nd game in terms of differences. I look at this one as a big creative spin on Lockdown.
Yep, I think the original still is the best in the series. 2 and 3 are right there with it though. All it takes is some personal preference to flip the order around honestly.
What I can see here can’t be called a Retaliation. Just another bald underpowered expedition with same desperate attempt to fight the way out and escape. Who retaliate whom remains unclear. :)
Great video as always but very boring game. It's my second playthrough video of Nemesis 3 i have watched but I still can't figure out why there is so much noise around this game. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. looks much much much better! Can someone write me in the comments what aspect of Nemesis you like (beside the Aliens theme)?
I’m pumped about STALKER too. Really enjoyed that prototype and already love the IP. I like the twists the game throws at you. One minute you’re completely fine and things are under control. The next one event card just caused mayhem and your strategy needs to adjust. It’s the roller coaster of emotions that I enjoy haha
@RollingSolo lol, that is fair. I have and enjoy Nemesis. So I figured I would enjoy Retaliation, but I also like the look of STALKER. I just can't justify both at the moment. I might sit on STALKER to see how it is received after it reaches backers. If it is good, it will become available again.
I would think so! For me, STALKER is almost entirely a new experience whereas Nemesis Retaliation is 60% previously covered in the series and 40% new (very rough percentages here). I lean more towards a brand new experience when we’re talking new games. I’m getting both in the end so there’s that. lol

I don’t know off the top of my head. Would guess 2x3 or 3x3. Somewhere inbetween.
Rolling solo. After playing both, which game did you like better and why: Stalker or Nemesis Retaliation?
Hey! I’ve gotten this question a few times. I really enjoy both equally for completely different reasons. Can’t pick!
@@RollingSolo thanks! Can you expand upon what those reasons are?
My latest video mentions it at a high level. STALKER is almost entirely a new experience whereas Nemesis Retaliation is 60% previously covered in the series and 40% new (very rough percentages here). I lean more towards a brand new experience when we’re talking new games. I’m getting both in the end so there’s that. lol
When exiting the hibernation room any going into C uou got the generator room. But the card said to draw a "?" tile and you drew a "C" tiles...
Thanks for watching! Be sure to check the pinned comment as I have it mentioned there. Cheers 😄
Thanks
All good my friend! Happy to clarify anything anytime. 😄
It's a roller coaster all the way through of "I'm going to make it" and "I'm going to die any minute" 🤣
Nope!
@@RollingSolo cool, thanks for the reply
Anytime! See you around 😄
If you roll the Clip symbol while Shooting, you also flip or remove your clip so it’s not strictly unlimited ammo
@@adrianshawuk Correct! Only unlimited for a timeframe depending on how the current ammo clip is used.
What do you think?
Do you prefer this one, or Lockdown?
Hmm I'd say it comes down to whether you prefer managing oxygen vs. power and the movie Aliens vs Alien. At a high level, this will answer your question.
@@RollingSolo I dont quite understand the latter part of your response.
Have you seen the Alien movies? If so, did you prefer Alien or Aliens? 🙂
Heaaaaaaavyyyyyyy!!!!!
youuuuu guyyysssss!!!
@@RollingSolo lol, thanks for that
@@nifarious 🤣
Couldn’t resist. 🤣
Untold Stories 4 will have some kind of campaign stuff if it's like the previous ones
US is a great addition for solo players! I’ve enjoyed them to date.
If, as a solo player, you have to chose one and only one of the three games to play it forever, which one will be?
Hmm that’s much much tougher. I think I lean towards the original the most. Nostalgia is likely to blame for that. Lockdown was a perfect 2nd game in terms of differences. I look at this one as a big creative spin on Lockdown.
If I could only have one, it has to be the original. It's so damn unique for what it is. Then I'd still buy the other two! 😂
Hope the video was helpful either way! That's all that matters to me. 😄
Great play through and sure helped me. It has to be better of the 3. We shale see what the campaign brings to the table.
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it so much. Was fun to put together. Cheers! 🔥
You HAD to cut the deck… 😂
I also knew someone would call me on it. 😜
Every time I hear "out," I hear a Canadian. 😅
Guilty as charged! 🇨🇦
Really
enjoyed that prototype and already love the IP. I like the twists the game throws at you. One minute you’re completely fine and things are under control. The next one event card just caused mayhem and your strategy needs to adjust. It’s the roller coaster of emotions that I enjoy haha
@RollingSolo if you were to pick either this or stalker, which one are you more excited for?
I can't choose so I'm getting both. To me this question isn't allowed to exist lol :P
I’m getting both in the end so there’s that. lol
