- Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova, two "Drag Race" alums who now have their own show on Viceland, "The Trixie & Katya Show," came by the Mic offices for a no holds barred chat with Senior Style Editor, Evan Ross Katz.
It feels like they´re having a conversation and this random guy is trying to be a part of it.

You can tell Katya was struggling in so many ways in this interview. Like every time she looked at Trixie, she looked very intense like almost nervous. It's the same look I give my sister in social situations when I start to have panic attacks, I hope her break helped her

This, the endless touchng (which is not like classic Katya touching if you notice), the unusual fiercness of her tone, the way she sticks her lower jaw back.. This all indicates that she was high I think. Probably why the coffee tasted like shit to her, too. I am glad she is at a better place now.

Idk why but i love Trixie here. She is so poised and calm, maybe trying to radiate peace and calm for Katya. She wasn't phased by her at all. What a great friend 💕
It's crazy to me that back when I first watched this I just found it funny and good to watch, but now it's really difficult because in hindsight I can see all the signs. Every time Katya stares intensely between her little rants and jokes, every time Trixie watches her to make sure she's going to say something she can reel back in if she needs to, the little looks between the two of them occasionally. I'm so glad Katya is doing as great as she is now because she was scarily good at keeping her shit together for the most part while using.
Something else I've picked up on is after she says something about Trixie or whoever she'll immediately tell them that she's joking which we know but she says it anyways. She's done it in some episodes of UNHhhh too. Idk if it's also a symptom of her anxiety but she doesn't rly do it anymore unless it's hard to tell she's kidding.

I actually love the interviewer. He knows when to let them talk and when to ask a new question. I think a lot of interviewers don't let their interviewees talk enough. And his reactions are so genuinely confused, shocked, or scared. I love it

I love how whenever someone interviews Katya and trixie together it just turns into an episode of UNHhhh and they just talk between themselves
As a person in long-term recovery from meth, I think it's evident that Katya is probably not entirely clean and sober here. However, that is nobody's business but her's. Maybe Trixie has some business in it as a work partner, but us fans have no justification in speculating on whether or not she is high.

Katya was definitely on something. There’s no way she wasn’t. I know that look from personal experience. She’s trying so hard to try to concentrate in the silence. The staring off in the distance, and intense eye contact. The touching. Some sort of downer.
I did those exact same things when I took just a little bit too much and was trying to act normal.
That’s what’s off about her.
Yeah, this interview makes me a little uncomfortable for those exact reasons.
I know she's probably doing "worse" here than the "Ass" episode of their show on Viceland, but that episode made me SO UNCOMFORTABLE because something was obviously so wrong with Katya from the first second of that show...I still can't rewatch it and I've watched all the other episodes 100×...as someone who's had experiences like you mentioned, and has had a psychotic break it was very disturbing. I remember thinking "Something is VERY WRONG here." Her eyes, her posture, the way she talked. And then later hearing her say she was on drugs/having a mental break at the time, it made perfect sense.
yeah it was the time during which Brian fell back into his drug addiction I always find it difficult to watch things from this time period :(

I cant stop laughing...I thought the interviewer was a great unintentional "straight" man. Trixie & Katya are the modern day drag Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin. They will become a comedy duo that will appeal to all progressive people, young and old. I'm a 62 yr. old gay father of two that loves there jagged style of witty quips and physical exclamations. I cannot wait for them to appear again in SF. My adult straight son cannot wait to take me.
I TOTALLY think Lewis and Martin when I watch them. Absolutely classic comedy duo. They are iconic in that way.
