Still debating if I want this edition. The Folio Society just released (July 2024) a new boxed edition, but the price is cost prohibitive for me at $750. It's still a wonderful book in either case.
I love this edition and Burton's illustrations are spot on. It should be noted, that 1984 is a love story which gives it both its power and its poignancy. Highly recommended from me, at least. the novel itself never goes out of date. If anything, it has become more relevant with every passing year. It is also the scariest book I have ever read.
@@rarebookreviewer i ordered 2 copies of Dune, and one each of left hand of darkness and Kindred. Bouggt all three because they are meaningful books to me. I love love love the Dune art. Its my favorite cover of all time. The other two, the covers are nice, but it was more about the connection to the book than to the covers. Im prob going to do a mini book haul vid on them too, but more from a review of the story point of view. Am loving going through all your folio content. What are your wishes for Folio to take on next? My wish would include: Enders Hame, Speaker for the Dead, Hyperion, Foundation, and The sthree Body Problem
@@FIT2BREAD Very cool! Yes, their edition of Dune is a book I’d recommend to anyone. It’s in their top tier of books and easily my favorite edition of anything I have from Folio Society. I ordered Kindred but I’m waiting on it. Glad to hear it had a special impact on you. I’ve only read one of Butler’s other books and it was ok but didn’t move me as much as it did others. I’m really hoping, like you, that they put out Ender’s Game. That would be high up but I’d also like to see them create Dune Messiah. I love dystopian books and most science fiction. The Red Rising Saga is among my favorite reads but I don’t think it’s in their wheelhouse. I would love to see a creepy edition of Stephen King’s Misery as it’s one of the few books of his that I thought was really excellent. Thanks for checking out the channel! I try to show up some of the more obscure books that others aren’t showing. I know I’m not great at it but I just want people to be able to see the books ahead of time.
@@rarebookreviewer you are too modest. Your content is great. Good call on Steven King. I like the art work on the Hitchhiker's Guide, but I didnt love the book so I might try a reread (since its been 20yrs) to see if I like it enough. I wanted irobot but it was sold out.

Awesome. Thanks bro.
This was one of my first folio purchases and is still one of my favourites

Love this comment! It’s not the scariest book I’ve ever read but one of the most eye opening for sure!
Just ordered this book. Thanks for the review.
I was shopping Folio yesterday and was considering getting this copy
Thanks man! I think you’d really like it. What books did you decide on? I have several more showcases to do soonish.

This one looks great. Have the Penguin Hardcover.
