Great info. I'm a flatland rider but we have long distances between stops in some very remote country. This definitely made me rethink what I carry on and sled and what I need to add. Thanks!

This can help bring someone's relative back home in case something fucks up ! 2 weeks ago we had a great big tragedy... 7 snowmobilers from the same group drowned when they passed on thin ice... A floatable snowsuite could have prevented this...

It’s so awesome to see you guys carrying a legit trauma/bleeding control kit. I’m pretty involved in the concealed carry and firearms training community, and over the past few years a lot of emphasis has been put on TCCC equipment and training. I’m pretty much packing along the same IFAK that I have in my range bag while I’m out sledding. If someone gets a major bleeder, and you can’t shut it off, you’re screwed.
Hand held flare is great too ... can be used as a fire starter in emergency and as intended use to signal if required. Another item that’s light and easy is a whistle - have one attached on each sled key ring. An axe is great too and even better than a saw at times ... other key item is rope! Would love to do a clinic at some point ..
Friendly word of advice. Don't keep your zippers up top like that. Pick a side and get in the habit of always putting it back on the same side. Had an instance once where I was riding and my zippers were up like that. Ended up losing half my stuff because my bag slowly unzipped itself (because of the wind).

I think the #1 rule for me, I ensure that if my sled, tunnel bags, handle bar bags ALL go away I have the bare minimum to effect a avalanche rescue and basic survival on my person.
I enjoyed seeing your kit, well thought out.
You should carry a bundle of Paracord. Used it to tie an a arm back on to get out of the backcountry and it worked very well.

Great video guys!! My kit is based on what you guys taught us in our Level 1 classes 2 years ago.
That training paid off big time this summer on the dirt bikes. Guy in our group took a fall and shattered his clavicle about 10 miles in at 11,500’ at around 330pm.
Needless to say all the joking and kidding I take about the gear I always bring along paid off.
Happy ending for all even though we didn’t get out until dark.

Thank you. Great video. I always have a little pocket rocket mini stove and a tiny bit of fuel. Great for lots of scenarios. Add a mountain house (they weigh next to nothing) and a surprise overnight just got way better. Tampons are the bomb for starting fires too.

I always carry the smaller knipex channel lock pliers, you could basically take the whole sled apart with them!
I use knipex cobras exclusively, simply the best
it would be pretty great if you could put links to the equipment in the description. If you carry them at Next Level I would buy them from you but if not where to get the same kits would be cool to have in the desc.
Think you should have the inreach/spot in your backpack, not next to your beacon, so you deal with interference, but on you, if you have a problem, and can't get to the sled.

You hopefully keep it off in your bag… it can fuck with your beacon if it’s on, same with phone and sled
On my high country, I have a mountain addiction bag on back, the stock tunnel back behind/under the seat, and then I put a cat windshield bag in also.
Things I carry in them.. shovel/saw, Leatherman, rope, 2 ratchet straps (1 can be used as tow rope), 9mm pistol, waterproof matches, mechanic wire, large fat long zipties, 3 bungee cords, the toolkit you get with a new sled, spare spark plugs, spare belt, extra gloves, hat, balaclava, spare goggle, sometimes a GoPro, water. That's all I can think of without going out and looking. Oh and Band-Aids large and small. Oh and roughly 15' of thick black duct tape, you can start it around a popsicle stick so it's way more compact that way.

@@truellas a sig p938. It's a little sub compact 9. I can fit it, in a holster, and a spare nag all in a tiny little $7 padded case from fleet farm. It's all tight and takes up very little space.

Question. Do you have proper training in using a tourniquet? if not please enquire that. It is a really good lifesaving tool bit improper use is a killer. Impressed by the kit, and will definitely improve my equipment after seeing this. I personally I'm more of a singel/duo rider so i carry more equipment for survival especially a tarp and shovel that makes it a lot easier to spend the night in case of a brakedown.

The one thing I have not seen anyone make mention of is a partial roll of toilet paper. It does not take up much room, and can be very useful. Not to forget this either, but a 13 gallon (or 2) plastic garbage bag (pack it in, pack it out...).
Can you give some specifics on the tool kit. You said over the years you have learned what breaks and what you need. Would love to know what exactly you carry socket, wrench sizes, specialty tools, ect. Thanks!!!!

Bro also pack can of sterno, extra long underwear and tarp/ space blanket. most deaths on the mountain are a result of getting wet and hypothermia setting in. Change clothes get warm and live for another day!

Check out the Burandt Skinz polaris kit. I just took that as a starting list for polaris and then added tools that I felt I would use.

I am new to snowmobiling. I need to know what I should bring for tools for my Skidoo expedition 900 ace 2019, but almost brand new… I have NO idea what tools to bring with me. Anybody has a list for me ? It would be VERY MUCH appreciated.
What Temp range do you ride in? What's the "it's to cold to ride" temp?

Cotton balls thoroughly saturated in vaseline are a much better way of starting a fire instantly even with wet wood they'll burn for 10 to 15 minutes in a complete downpour and light nearly instantly with a mere steel and flint and instantly with a bic lighter , a 2 oz zip loc sandwich bag will easily carry 40 or 50 of them

Gone.Coastal Hey bud it’s a Sled Solutions QL handlebar bag. It’s designed for the Polaris crossbar so I don’t think it would work on your set up.

We also pack a couple of bivvy sacks in case we need to spend the night.
So basically get 50 sponsors to give you a lot of great stuff, or spend another $5k on top of a $10+K sled to be prepared for anything. Not many people can do that!

Dan. Why don’t you carry a spare fuel can? Have you stopped needing with the newer sleds?
The Axys chassis are 12 gallon tanks, but now that you mention it , you don't see fuel caddy's much anymore. Probably because of weight.
I have a skidoo Renegade back country, and though I’ve never needed it, I carry a 3.5 gallon Jerry can when I go into the mountains. I always joke that I’ll need it for the Polaris guys, but the reality is that the new engines from all manufacturers have gotten al lot more efficient.

He lost me at "backpack." Wearing a backpack while riding a snowmachine (known as "snowmobile" by folks in the Lower 48) is a bad idea. You don't want that mass attached to the rider. It makes everything more difficult and makes it more likely that the rider will become separated from the snowmachine if the ensemble goes airborne. Basic physics. If you can't stow it in your pockets, it should be affixed to the snowmachine. Basic dude stuff.
Never leave the truck without an extra tampon!
