A person's house reveals a lot about their personality... love the little details. Have enjoyed Clarke's work enormously since seeing 2001 in the theater in '68.

This is a youthful fantasy come to life. Only Clarke himself is missing. Thanks so much for posting this.

Delightful tour. Thank you so much for creating this. Arthur was a very gracious and good person to be so cooperative, as were the people caring for the home on your second visit. And you know, I was thinking that music sounded like the Alex North score. Great to hear that as well. Thank you, Arthur C. Clarke! You stimulated our minds to think and dream.

A fantastic video, thanks for sharing it. The background music is perfect. I also went into Clarke's house & office about 2 years ago. I also saw his bedroom, bathroom, terrace, etc. The security guard was happy to open the gate, and a woman showed me around. I gave both of them a tip.

Historic, and brings me closer to the man that wrote the books that meant so much to me during my younger years, and will do so again in my older years.

Thanks for posting this video! Really does provide insight into his literary and cinematic interests--much of which suggest that he was a regular guy in many ways. I hope you're still keeping it pristine and also charging admission to keep things up. Cheers!

Hi great video man and you are lucky man to have visited this preserved shrine to this once very famous man, the choice of music and going through this famous mans office in his Sri Lankan abode and that Arthur C Clarke was one of the most famous people in the world and in Sri Lanka, in the late 20th century and he saw a future that we are just now ten years after his passing are living through. I grew up on ACC. Its amazing to think such a successful author arguably the best selling scifi author of all time would have over six decade writing career not to mention his other projects tv programs movies etc he would have accumulated no doubt a vast amount of wealth and was famous throughout the world yet he lived very modestly in comparison with other successful authors in his adopted Sri Lankan home even though it was one of the wealthier suburbs of Colombo. When you consider how wealthy he must have become a multi billionaire no doubt in US dollars from his incredibly successful long writing career and other project he was involved in. He did live a very full and interesting life counting many famous people especially from the science world and movie tv world as his close friends especially from the west.Travelling regularly around the world from his Sri Lankan home, especially to catch up with his close and many famous and not so famous friends in England, Europe and America read his bio by Neil McAleer 1992. RIP ACC. You will be greatly missed as we head into an uncertain future. But your writing and great body of work you left behind will live long and will be discovered by future generations long into the future. One last point I wonder what became of the vast fortune in wealth that he would have left behind after his passing. I suspect all that vast financial fortune and assets that Arthur C Clarke accumulated over a long and highly successful six decade career would be divided by his British family in England and his adopted Sri Lankan family the Ekanayakes in Sri Lanka whome he lived with at 25 Barnes Place, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Which this video shows. Moving video for ACC fans around the world.

The answer that Clarke was giving when asked the question why he came to live in tropical Sri Lanka was: "Thirty British winters". He added that it was a perfect place for underwater exploration, that he found in love with the country and many places there, and had many friends there too.

Very nice. I am fascinated with Arthur C Clarke since I first read his book on Mysterious world in the late 80's. Quite remarkable man. I myself live in Croatia, near Adriatic sea, but if I could, I would also live in the tropics, Cuba sounds the best option. Sunny through whole year round.

I have to ask - what happened? I mean, did you just turn up, un-announced, and he just let you in to film his house?
It's a great vid but there's something a bit odd.

thats definitely an old office block or similar repurposed as a home. Interesting to see he lived a very spartan life and loved Sri Lanka..

@@st.apollonius5758 You post a comment suggesting that Arthur C Clarke was a pedophile when YOUR TH-cam channel display videos of young Japanese girls obviously targeting pedophiles?!? What you are trying to do in fact here, cynically, is publiicty for your channel by accusing someone else not here to defend himself. I'm going to complain on TH-cam right now,!!!

Very interesting!...Arthur C. Clarke reminds me of Syd Mead the Futurist ( th-cam.com/video/LuMIrHlAf2Q/w-d-xo.html ) who Designed the Movie set for "Blade Runner" starring Harrison Ford. May Sir Arthur C. Clarke R.I.P....God Bless!
