  • In this video, I will be taking you through a 5 minute, 5 exercise routine to cooldown your voice. Cool downs are just as important as warm-ups for the voice and should not be skipped. You should ALWAYS do a cool down at the end of a performance or a singing session in order to repair and heal your voice as well as keep your voice in top shape for your next performance!

    I have a question I often sing and then take a break for a couple hours and then go back to singing should I do a vocal cool down before I take breaks even if I’m going to sing again?

    • @laurenalicesinging
      @laurenalicesinging  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s a great question! I would say it depends on how you are singing. If you are belting a lot, staying up in the high soprano range for a while, singing for a long period of time or your voice is tired afterwards I would definitely cool down after. If you’re more in the speaking range and singing more easy listening or jazz that isn’t as straining on the voice you would probably be fine not doing one afterwards but it never hurts to do one after every session! :)

  • @tylermullins9572
    @tylermullins9572 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Is it ok to use this as a warmup or will or do any damage??

    • @laurenalicesinging
      @laurenalicesinging  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It shouldn't do any damage but I wouldn't do it as a warmup for the voice. For warming up I would focus more on exercises that stretch the voice to cover more of your range and some technique work. I do have a different video for a vocal warmup on my channel I would recommend instead :)

    What can we do between songs and
    between sets to save and recover
    our voice during a gig (rock) , just rest
    it or do some cool downs?

    • @laurenalicesinging
      @laurenalicesinging  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I would definitely do some light humming through a straw and just vocal rest in general not going out and talking with people in between sets. The straw definitely helps to reset the voice especially if it is fatigued. Make sure you are sipping on water throughout the show to keep your vocal folds hydrated as well! :)

    • @bikersoncall
      @bikersoncall 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@laurenalicesinging Thanks much
      Lauren! Forgive this second question,
      I know to drink a lot of water , which
      I do, the benefit supposedly is realized
      24 to 36 hours later, as relates to actually
      hydrating cells. When sipping water,
      does the water make 'some' direct
      contact with the folds to achieve
      benefit?
      When I'm rehearsing , I always sip on
      a half cup of warm coffee, throughout,
      it seems to really help me , maybe
      psychologically, not sure, but do you
      think that coffee might be a big
      negative on the voice ?

    • @laurenalicesinging
      @laurenalicesinging  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bikersoncall That is correct! I always tell everyone to just sip on water throughout the day because it takes time to actually rehydrate so you wanna make sure your water intake is consistent. No liquids actually touch your vocal folds directly so coffee shouldn’t have any negative effect if you drink a little while you sing. I myself drink a bit of coffee during the day. If it ups your anxiety or adds tension then I would cut it out but if if a little bit seems to help sip away! :)
