  • The Norwegian capital Oslo is getting a new national museum for classical and modern art, architecture and design. The museum's collection includes around 100,000 objects, ranging from medieval tapestries to modern design classics and contemporary artworks. There will be rooms dedicated to, among others, the works of Edvard Munch , including "The Scream," 19th-century landscape painting, royal robes worn by the Norwegian queens, as well as works by prominent artists, such as Gustav Vigeland, Hannah Ryggen, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh and Ida Ekblad.

    I loved the building but more importantly, I really enjoyed the exhibitions. The rooms were really well designed. Beautiful lighting executed especially on the first floor. I’m a Norwegian. Have lived in Paris, London & NYc. Very proud to have this beautifully curated museum in Oslo! (I understand that it’s each to their own! It’s all very subjective…and that’s something to be respected)

    Congratulations to the Architect! Hope to see this special Museum sometime in my lifetime, for sure. Seems it provides a good reason to visit Norway 🇳🇴 as it joins the ranks of the Louvre, the Hermitage and so on. I find the design space on the rooftop exceptionally tasteful, unique and inviting. Thanks DW for sharing this great, good news! ❤

    Nice video! When visiting another city or country, every educated person must visit a museum. Visiting museums is very useful and fascinating. A love for the "eternal" and "beautiful" is awakened in a person, the beginnings of greatness and respect for history are inculcated. It is impossible to turn the excursion into something banal, ordinary and boring. The person should be a comprehensively developed person, cultured, educated, critically and analytically thinking, with knowledge of foreign languages. It is the knowledge of a foreign language that opens wide prospects for a person to realize his/her creative potential, career and financial growth. I would like to recommend the practical training course by Yuriy Ivantsiv "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign language", where you can find lots of useful information how to learn a foreign language quickly. Learn a foreign language and realize your creative potential on an international scale! The international community needs creative ideas! Thanks to the author of the channel for a very fascinating tour!

    Sorry Klaus, but it looks like a mausoleum. The only nice thing I can say is that at least it doesn't resemble one of Frank Gehry's metallicized monstrosities.

      Yes, it's hated by most people here. I'll never take my daughters there. A pity, but I've hopes for a return to classical architecture, as people here are really tired of modernism.

      well, a mausoleum can be beautiful. I think this one looks more like a bunker - keep away, nobody allowed in here. There are nice buildings in Oslo but hard to find them.

      @@kjellmadsen6669 Yeah, like the Taj Mahal in Agra, India, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We take 3 days in Oslo this summer, and hope to find a few nice buildings:-)

    Contemporary art is horrible, a scam, requires no skill to produce.

      Only if you focus on the bad art. There used to be lots of bad art in the past, but only the real classics has stood the test of time. In 100 years only some of modern art will still be considered classics. Just like old art today

    • @okklidokkli
      @okklidokkli 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Contemporary art is more about the ideas the object represent, than the object in itself. Skill is more than just the handwork.

    German that designed the most important Norwegian museum. He definitely knew how to piss off Norwegians. The design doesnt fit the norwegian architecture. The building is ugly and it looks like naz.. bunker.
