Gillan sounds even better than in his prime in this performance. Probably something to do with monitors. As always, fantastic performance by Deep Purple.
When Morse joined, Gillan made a better effort to keep his voice healthy. I saw Purple in the early 2000s and I was so happy that wasn't a sad parody of his former self. Yes he lost some high notes but his control had improved and his intonation had always been impeccable.
I've been a Steve Morse fan since the early days of the Dixie Dregs but I'll somehow never be okay with him in this band, something about it doesn't work for me (sorry Steve/fans) just my personal feelings, I like very much the music he's written with these guys but I don't feel his personal style correctly conveys the Blackmore vibe playing Ritchie's music, sorry again to anyone anyway disturbed by that, again just personal opinion.
@@danielbarros4478 I agree. Blackmore arguably went from strength to strength after his departure from Purple. Though I fully appreciate Morse as a musician, I have never been been impressed with Morse's work with Purple. Blackmore's boots were just too big to fill. I have seen Purple live with both Blackmore and Morse at the helm and no comparison. Others will differ but that's my honest opinion.
Hello IAN G. Like you 💕but I’m listen a concurrent. singing « Highway.. »cover, other « Burn » 💥Perfects🔥But PURPLE rest Purple with our MARK, is mark two? 🤷♀️🎶my first album « Deep Purple in Rock and the Magic... CHILD in TIME » young Girl🤷♀️🎵Loving IAN, today 2021, older great Man🔥💋
aonde xd ni hay solo de guitarra en esta cancion, es solo ritmica, pero claro mejor metete la arena donde te quepa, aaa si otra cosa, de seguro le importo a la banda que nunca mas trajeron a blackmore :v
Ritchie Blackmore is rotten WHY ? he manipulated Nick Simper (b) and Rod Evans at Mark I, he manipulated Roger Glover (b) and Ian Gillan at Mark II, but he failed same at Mark III with Glenn Hughes (b) and David Coverdale...so he took his HUUUUUUGE EGO AND RESIGNED AWAY FROM DEEP PURPLE....SHAME MUSICAL SHAME on you RITCHIE BLACKMORE

He sounds good, but not that good. Listen to one of the older performances before this one you'll see he was better in his prime.

Agreed. No Blackmore, no 'Purple
@@gerd5479 That's definitely not true. Purpendicular is one of my personal favourite Purple albums
@@gerd5479 if Ritchie had stayed in the band, he would have been ruined ; p poor fanboy
@@jaspergillgannon4991 what you believe is one of Purples best albums is simply an opinion and has no relation to what is true.

Without Blackmore it is not Deep Purple, the guitar sound on this is nonexistent
