1978 Mack R686 Truck of the month January 2024
This was the workhorse of the Engineering Develepment & Test Center here at the Truck Capital of the World, Allentown, PA. Outfitted with a driven front axle, Mack transfer case, salt spreader, and a more-than-capable PTO, this R-model was more than capable. Winter tested the snow removal capabilities, warmer months offered the opportunity for clearing the track with a large hydraulic broom. The PTO was even used to supply hydraulic power to tests that were performed on components around the ED&TC.
We are thrilled to have the truck on display for our visitors. Over the years, it has been updated, modified, and enhanced to create the awesome antique you see today.
