Gosh, the Italians are going to catch hell for this. It's one thing to make a challenging course, but something quite different to make one that's dangerous bordering on lethal. These are the best women's downhill skiers and their all crashing in the same spot, or in the case of #11, probably tearing a tendon and or ligament.
Absolutely. This course is clearly dangerous and then some. Sure, many make it through and there's always a winner, etc. But the off camber insanity, effective blind turns, turns too close to jumps. hands down one of the worst I have ever seen. And the setters walk...................... I'm not clairvoyant, but I have a sick feeling this is the last of Shiffrin. Seriously.
Sweet Baby Jesus, don't even think that and I pray that's not the case. Still, I must agree that she looks seriously injured, and especially with a joint-intensive sport like down-hill (in this case, down-hell) skiing, a joint injury is a professional disaster. Thankfully, she still has youth on her side, but also #11 is very worrisome, because she pulled up, buckled and screamed so I'm guessing she has ligament and/or tendon damage in her ankle and knee. We can only hope they fully recover b/c this generation of women skiers is possibly the best ever and it'd be a disaster for the sport if two or three of them are permanently out from one slope. @@death2pc
Not smoothing out the surface undulations at that turn was completely reckless. What they were thinking? A few spectacular crashes to attract more eyeballs?
This is a slope that is in the world circuit since the 1956 Olympics (and it will be also for 2026 Olympics)... Is only that with the modern skis the speed is high and the error margin is 0

There are 4 or 5 rollers across the course, probably 10-15cm high, hard to judge from the video. They should have been smoothed. Look at the shadows on the snow at @0:22. Also interrupted pattern of ski track. There was no need to leave this hazard in that place.

Ma la FIS quanto vuole ancora attendere a vietare gli sci attuali. Con uno sci dritto non sarebbe successo niente.
Shame on the race jury. Dangerous course set. The proximity of the rock/mountain edging the course is crazy. It does not look like Willie bags are backstopping the A/B fencing. It’s a scary course on best day. When the world’s best women are crashing like that out in perfect conditions, it should’ve informed the race jury something is seriously wrong.
Very poorly conceived downhill course. So many accidents at the same spot indicate a very amateurish job or an organizer anxious to show just how creative and stupid he is.

It's not that the course is necessarily bad, plenty of racetracks out there with horrible punishing turns that people love. Here it seems they don't have enough practice runs and they're to keen on going flat out. They simply "went in too hot". The safety nets and other crash protection could be massively improved tho...

Yikes, these were all painful crashes, so many legends... ESPECIALLY Shiffron... After vlhova crashed in jasna (shes slovakis best skier and im from slovakia), we decided to support shiffrin and now... Who is there to support?
Like I said, the Italians who set up this course are all gonna need to move to Costa Rica or some other nation to avoid jail. Did the men ski this course, and if so, were there as many crashes?
@@ilsassaroli1 The snow conditions were faster on race day compared to the single training run, and likely faster than previous years' races on the same course. A longer jump, higher speeds, the undulations after landing, combined or in part, conspired to gave racers less time to negotiate that compression turn. They came in to the left turn much "hotter" than expected. Let's hope the course officials slow down that left turn on the Tofane track next season and for the Olympics in 2026, so that unexpectedly faster snow doesn't cause any more crashes.

That corner at about 40 seconds has quite a compression during the turn too, which comes up too quickly after such a long jump.
