That last match was really old school excitement, good stuff. Martinez was a favorite of mine growing up in Buffalo NY. I saw him in person many times in the early 70s.👍
even though this is before my time my grandfather had old tapes we would watch when I was a child and i gave always loved the way wrestling used to be not like it is now thank u for uploading this sir
Thanks for sharing this. A guy who refereed for UWA talks with me every Sunday and its just so fun listening to the history. I also have an old envelope with the logo of UWA and etc. I believe it was from pay check or etc. As a Wrestling Historian I can now say I have seen UWA footage to go with my collection. Once again Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! I currently have five more reels getting restored and transferred and I'm hoping to have those posted by the end of the year. And I have another fifteen reels or so that I'll be getting transferred after that. Lots more UWA on the way! I'd love to find some more UWA memorabilia like programs, etc.
That's Buz Benson. He had been with Phil Golden's All Star Wrestling a few years before. If anyone knows anything else about his career I'd love to hear it
Ahh it’s great to hear Buzz call the shots again, I remember the first time I heard Mean Gene commentate on the WWF, I was really excited thinking WOW Buzz is on WWF tv?! not knowing who mean gene was at that time.
Such great action in the first match from Tommy Seigler. He was such a good guy, classic style ring wrestler, knew how to keep a hold and work it. Textbook application style. I would have enjoyed seeing him taking on another like-minded good guy style wrestler who didn't need to use the hair/trunks for leveraging. I believe Seigler's background was in construction prior to becoming a wrestler.
The Mighty Yankee is an interesting name to see because numerous people have wrestled under the masked monniker from the 50s-90's. In fact Tony Anthony who wrestled as the Mighy Yankee in SMW a few times in the 90's wasn't even alive when the first Mighty Yankee match occured.
That’s a big ol’ ring especially for TV taping in a southern promotion. And long matches for a TV taping (too little Talent?). Great find even if it does suffer from that dry AWA feel.
Only a year. According to Lou, running it "just became too much of a struggle financially as well as politically. Buddy Lee started it and invested in the ali/Inoki match. Need I say more? I kept the small towns going until the boys could find other work. We had a great time with it, but a guy cannot feed his family on good times. We did show Gulas up as far as talent and professionalism. Poor Nick - what a sad case."
@@VladamireD The last show in Nashville was August 17, 1976. I think August 15, 1976 was the last Chattanooga show. The last TV in Nashville aired on August 28, 1976. The promotion lasted 6 months.
Great stuff. Love to see different TV shows from the 70’s. Territory wrestling was the best!

First Time I ever saw Beautiful Bruce Swayze wrestle! He was always a Manager in the Cleveland/ Buffalo NWF Territory under Pedro Martinez!

Great find.. Thank you very much...
Awesome wish we could see more footage
I hope to have more in the next few months! Fingers crossed…
Great first match. Thanks
Hats off to you Jon. You deserve it 👍👍👍😊
Wow, this is unbelievable!
What a superb opening fight.Tough as nails Professional Wrestlers 12:10,14:20
Love the dry commentary. No comedy, very serious. Lends a professional air to the proceedings
A hearty and sincere thanks for this and your other great shares. Amazing!
Thanks for uploading this Jon. Awesome 👍🏻

This is great stuff. Wonder what happened to Buzz…nothing can be found of him. Love the entire program format. Wrestling GOLD!!!!

The ring announcer is an absolute all-star at alliteration

Thanks for uploading this. Super happy to find a Dale Mann match that I haven't seen before. He was a great guy.
Never seen before, wonderful stuff.
Nice show, probably one of the first matches of Afa @ Sika
No, there's footage in existence from their stint in Calgary in 1973. I believe they were also in the IWA the year before this.
@@MisterBeauJanGels I actually saw live matches of The UWA in Nashville Tennessee at The National Guard Armory on Sidco Drive
@@warrenfaye8775 hi, do you have any idea who owned/ran this promotion? What other towns they ran? How long it lasted?

@41:25 This is the first time I’ve ever seen a director’s slate used as weapon. Brilliant! I hope this is recurring element.
wow lou thesz is the best so calm and cool i never saw him do play by play before he is great
Legend has it he's still waiting

now this is wrestling like it should be thanks
Good old Lou……..a bundle of excitement and energy
Tommy Seigler was from Belton SOUTH CAROLINA. Not North
any Tennessee wrestling you have (especially middle TN) if you could upload it.. that'd be AWESOME.. Anything from Bert Prentice days, etc..
Thanks for clarifying that Ray Parker had another name. Sure didn't look like the Ghostbusters dude to me.
Troy Graham? Is that the Dream Machine?
Yes.
It's always amazing to me how fat and out-of-shape the wrestlers were back then. They never saw the inside of a gym.

lou didn't wrestle for this outfit that i know of but the next month he was back in the ring in toronto

Pretty neat to have the master.
Was Mario Leone part of the Leone brothers team from Grand Prix?
What's the music at the beginning of the program?
I never seen the Samoans as good guys
Scientific match cooool!
hey i don’t know anything really about Nashville was Buddy Lee outlaw or is this gulas and buddy Lee is just the promoter on record
They were running opposition to Gulas.
Put your John Henry on the black and white paper
saul weingrof(spl?)!!

Arriba Luis Martinez with the blade job at 40:16.
