I was lucky enough to be an undergraduate student of Professor Bartlett. You will not find a better professor of renaissance cultural history at The University of Toronto than this man.
I'm currently enrolled in a European civilization history course taught by Professor Bartlett. I have my first lecture this coming Monday, September 14. I am very excited, especially after having watched this video and read a few of the comments. Professor Bartlett seems highly intelligent which I do feel will make this course THAT much better. I also highly appreciate his views on the purpose or the motivations a student should have when taking such a course. It's not so much about being trained to land a career but to become a better person with a more enlightened and higher world view. I'm very excited and I am very eager to go through those large amounts of readings. :)
Professor Bartlett's in depth Medieval Europe Great Courses is one of the best I've been privileged to watch. His lectures on the Languedoc region, the weaving of history, architecture, language, religion and geography into a wonderfully coherent and enjoyable series is marvelous. He's someone I'd love to meet and listen to - a true Renaissance man! Wonderful presentation.
Kenneth Bartlett is an amazing professor. I hope I could have him teach HIS 109Y1: The Development of European Civilization, 1350-1945 if I enroll in this class on July 2016 when I start my studies at University of Toronto on September 2016.
