Hey! Im aiming to use the save states as a backup for when the cartridge battery runs dry. Do you know if could be possible to extract the save state from the sd, save it to the cloud for future use?
Hey @@jarc127 ! Yes you could do this. When you create a save state it also writes the actual save file too as .sav as well as the save state so you could back that up. Just be careful with Pokémon games they don’t play nice with save states in my experience.
Please please reply if you have any suggestions what to do!!! I was playing pokemon leaf green on gba core and I've had plenty of success using save states and suddenly I'm getting failed saves and failed loads on that game! @@LovingTechLife Thank you. Just to let you know, I already watched this video. Still didn't answer my question, do I need a memory card to save by cartridge games like Mario kart super circuit and ninja turtles fall of the foot clan. Because of right now the memory is grayed out
I just received my analogue pocket today Oct 8 2024. I'm playing Mario kart super circuit Nintendo advance game. When I hit the center button to save the game the memory is grayed out, so how do I save my games? Do I need to put a micro memory card in?
Hey Super Sonic! Are you using the “Game Saves” where you choose form the game menu or are you using the Analogue Pocket save states? What version of firmware are you using on the Pocket?
RTC still doesn’t sync while using save states even on 2.0. The only way I know to mitigate synchronisation problems is via flash carts explained here: github.com/ninbura/pokemon-on-the-analogue-pocket Unless this is what you are doing I’d be wary of using save states with Pokémon crystal.
@cljoe35 GB Studio saves are saved in /GB Studio/Saves/ and are named with the same name as the GB Studio game but with a .sav extension (e.g. Game.pocket gets Game.sav) Save Games for OpenFPGA cores are in a mirrored folder path based on location of rom files. If say ROM is located at /Assets/gba/common/ the save file would be located at /Saves/gba/common/ with the same name as the rom but the .sav file extension. Haven’t tried but if you copy from one folder to the other and make sure the file name is the same then there is a good chance it will work. Let me know how you go.
Hey VectorHunter! Yes I think I have a small one on the bottom left side of the screen. Do you know if people are just sending them back for replacement or if they even have stock?
@@LovingTechLife I think this is due to the lack of gap between the screen and the shell, when you play games, the screen heats up and inflates, so it’s a design issue

I can’t give you a definite answer but like any core it not likely just because they don’t want to, there are technical challenges and other factors that contribute.
Yeah it is a strange omission. Snes safe states would make the pocket complete in my opinion. It would have all the popular consoles covered and have all my emulation on one device
Hey @orthobro7773 ! Agreed, I think the developer essentially has to design the core with save states in mind from the outset. Also there is the issue of how much capacity / how many gates the FPGA chip has and if they are all essentially taken up with the snes hardware and special cart chips then there may be no room left in their FPGA for added functionality like save states.
