I would love to see the video on What is the Process of Export and Import./ Type of goods which we can export or import./ Documents needed for clearance of goods, How the goods are loaded on Vessels ? Steps most important. Like stuffing, gate in, sealing. It will be very helpful for all and me too as I want to learn about most export and import. Thank you for all those Excellent Learning videos.
Thank you for such knowledgeable videos. In this video of air shipment, I wonder what the importer has to do or submit to the import freight forwarder to get the cargo, it seems like the import forwarder arranges it all for the importer, unlike the sea shipment. Could you explain that for me? Thank you!
For imports into the US: Once the cargo lands, the airline’s ground handler charges a terminal fee. The ground handler provides an allotment of free time, before storage is due. A day or two of free time is the norm. It depends on the ground handler’s policy. If cargo is not collected within that allotment, storage charges are accrued daily. The storage charge is determined by the ground handler. An example: 0.65¢/kg/day with a minimum of $80 or $200, etc. It’s set by the ground handler. If the cargo is not customs cleared with 15 days of arrival to the US, therefore not collected from the ground handler, it goes into GO Status, and is taken to an offsite warehouse to await its customs clearance. Charges accumulate daily. There are different customs clearances for different scenarios, and that’s a different conversation. But to answer your question: at minimum there is a terminal handling charge (THC). Then storage if it reaches that phase. Then GO if it reaches that phase. Being ready prior to arrival is key to collecting the cargo before free time expires.
