My girl was not meant for me either, and she has a wonderful life with a man who already had a male; he was the coolest dog, that lead to me going to get my own: Now my female is his sidekick, instead of her brother's boss.
His owner borrowed my female for a couple of weeks, and then my male for a couple of weeks, to see if he could handle having two Heelers...
She took 3 days to act like my dog again when she returned. My boy came back thrilled to see me again and happy about the 2 week fun camp that I sent him to.
I was the night wrangler at a Doggy Daycare where my two Heelers lived and stayed all day while I taught school.
The man who owned it got mad because I did not answer the phone midday when he could not find a harness of a daytime only dog; that I never even handled and fired me...He was the only person who handled the lost harness and found it as soon as I told him that.
But, still fired me two days later for not answering my phone when off work...
He was showing several signs of demensia; so, I was there all the time that I was not at school...
Except to stop by my place to shower or do laundry.
Living back in my little room I rent in a big house, keeping them both was too much.
The female was the puppy that I picked out of 10 and flew across the country to pick-up from a past co-worker.
One male was unclaimed and the last of a liter of 10; so I decided impulsively to take him too... Although it turned out that the leftover male was the other picture I had looked at when trying to decide between male and female pups... of course.
Turns out that he, Mr. Merle the Pearl, was my dog all along and I was only meant to train her for her real life.
When I took her back over to give her to the man she, Sassy, immediately made herself at home and was all over him happy to be back. Her name is now Stevie.
