  • From motorcycles to swamp buggies; from Pike Peak to Baja California - "Dirt" covers the motorsports world of off-road racing and competitions. There is humor, drama, and suspense in this light-hearted view of off-pavement competition. Children will enjoy watching most of the movie because of the unpredictable nature of off-road even ts
Of particular interest in the coverage of the 1976 SCORE Baja Internacional (500); 1963 Indy 500 winner Parnelli Jones and legendary Walker Evans join forces in their switch from Fords to General Motors products and they take on the light and nimble Sandmaster buddies of Johnny Johnson and Bobby Ferro.

My father was the guy working the guys over for the free oil and plugs. Dad passed about 10 years ago. Still love watching that part. He drag raced as a young man, got into desert bikes then into the class 5 bugs. What a great time of our lives. Dad busted his back in the mint 400 took some ludes and finished the race on 3 wheels. Good ol days.

If you have not lived off road in the 70's and 80's, you have not lived.

    What a nostalgia trip.
My nana gave me a copy of this on VHS when I was young. I used to love watching it, mostly for the crashes

Remember this movie, we were heading for the woods every Sunday riding dirt bikes, lol got back into riding again about five years ago lol, my dad says I'm an idiot and my brother tells me I'm stupid. It's nice to see they still have the same opinion of me they did 45 years ago 😂

The buggy under the opening credits at the :59 second mark is Charlie Barnes. The Beetle Barn was one of the sponsors of the "team", and also Charlie's employer. Charlie Barnes was an amazing VW mechanic, and not a bad driver. At least in the desert he can't tailgate! lol. He's my ex so I can say that

I really liked this movie.... It is the first time I have seen it, and I have seen several movies of this subject in the past.... I was a Senior in H.S. when this came out, and it reminds Me so much of people and things in general during that time.... It covered many types of off-roading and it had the actual people & machines doing what is being delivered in this production... The photography was very good as well, and the narrator was a hoot!!!! I give this film TWO THUMBS UP !!!! I'm surprised that I did not see this back in the time it was produced....

    "SUNDAY! SUNDAY!
    U.S. 40 Drag Strip!
SEE Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick and his $200 International Harvester with $4,000 tires!
SEE men racing through the desert sand while breathing filtered air!
SEE two brothers in a blood feud to see if they can drive a 4-wheel Jeep to the top of a muddy hill!
    SUNDAY! SUNDAY!
SEE the film narrator, an old coot, drink beer while talking about the race!
SEE Parnelli Jones wipe the grease off a wrench!
SEE cars get stuck in the mud!
In fact, SEE anything before you see this film!"

You do realize that the guy who put together this film is dead by now?
    Same as the era.

Very poor. Even by 1970s standards. A commercial flop no doubt.
