Hi, this guide was great! Is the daisy wheel supposed to align on its own? Mine was working, and then I took it out to see the name of the font, and now the type is not aligning with the key pressed. Thanks.
Yes, the daisy wheel usually auto aligns on it's own On occasion, some of the switches used for the alignment process inside the typewriter can go rusty and become less effective. As such, you may occasionally se that the alignment process did not go to completion usually opening and closing the typewriter cover several times until we hear and see the full alignment process is completed will solve the issue
The power cord used is a 2 pin power connector, the same ones used in UK plugs. The cable cannot be swapped Do remember to check the operational voltage of your machine before plugging it in
Wow! Thank you! This video has taught me so much valuable information. I found one of these typewriters at a thrift store for $3. It works well, but I need a new ribbon now (the one that was in it ran out). Do you have a recommendation on what type/brand of ribbon I should use?
Hi! Thanks for liking the video! If possible, use the original ribbons from smith corona. I think they still sell them brand new. They fit better in the machine and produce better quality prints Third party ribbons are fine as well :D
Is it type ‘H’ ribbon used on this machine? I’m getting different information from sources. Also did you buy your print wheel separately? Sorry for all the questions lol.
I have this typewriter and I’m looking for a couple of specific items. One of the font wheels in old English lettering and a brown ink ribbon. Both items my grandmother used to write her poetry and I can’t find either.
Hi there! Usually if you encounter this error, check to see if there is something obstructing the movement of the daisy wheel. If the daisy wheel can turn freely, but you need to recalibrate the daisy wheel, simply open and close the typewriter cover. You will see that the daisy wheel does some spinning actions to recalibrate. Hope this helps!
Sometimes the cassette needs to be wound a bit more first before using, to expose more ribbon. Old carbon ribbons occasionally dry out a bit at times, resulting in poor print
Just got one from my grandmother and this is so insightful I'm so excited that i was typing within 10 minutes. My grandma would be proud❤.
Glad to hear the video was helpful :D
Thank you so much! I have the smith Corona XL 1900, and this helped loads
@@Golden_Bubblebee happy to hear XD
The XL 1900 is a slightly more advanced model
Such good info! There were many insights learned from this!
Just got one of these for free from a old guy that couldn’t get it to work, because of this I typed a thank you to him lol

Super helpful! I just got one. What kind of power cord does it use? I will need to get an adapter if its the same one in the video.

@@shanehageman8662 yep, these are known as H series typewriters. Type H should be correct
Print wheels are sold separately

Does it have to be from the h series. Some doesn’t have the H on them. Are they ok to use
Hi there, which part are you referring to? The typewriter supply or the typewriter model?
My machine doesn't work correctly. The words changed his position, the A is 8, N is 4. Do you have a code to restart or fix this bug?

Surely the ribbon and eraser were tucked away in the daisy's legs
My ink appears to be out but it seems like a new cassette. What’s up?
