I declared 2024 as the year I'm going to conquer chord tones. You got me started early, thank you so much for this and your Blues Master Class which I'm still working my way through.
This is a light bulb moment for me. I always love how you break everything down. So at the end of the day, everything makes sense ad isn't so confusing
I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get into the blues and soloing in general. Everything you need all wrapped up in one big basket with a bow on top.
I am being very serious when I say this. I really feel like this is the easiest way to describe, and understand what music is and our responsibility to it. I am glad you like it. Share the word!😬
Ok, let’s put the learning aside. I haven’t said this to anyone yet, but man, I first saw the blueberry fade SG at NAMM about 4 - 5 years ago and I absolutely loved the look of it. I am not a fan of the red SG, just because of the color, no offense to anyone who has them, it’s just not my thing. Anyway, I went to a guitar store recently and boom there it was hanging on the wall, I was like… “I’m gonna get that guitar”, and I have to say, I have not put it down since I got it. I absolutely love it. The neck, the color, the pickups… it’s just all perfect for me. I really have a connection with this one. Glad you like it as well.
Your theory has come along just when I am having and awakening about music and the guitar. My journey has taken me through learning arpeggios and chords for for major and minor chords all over the neck. Essentially your denominator. The numerator and linking scales and chord tones is a great way to visualize the harmony and melody interacting. I await more examples to solidify the theory. Diatomic same key denominator is fairly straight forward. Throwing in chords outside the key will be fun to explore.
The Master Music Formula is such a game changer! I can’t thank you enough for bringing this logic forward. Your videos have impacted me so much over the past couple of years. Can’t thank you enough! Merry Christmas and have a happy & healthy new year!
I like the human element in the formula. You can followed all the roles and patterns. But we are just human, and happy accident do happen! Icing on the top really :P
Here is the great master formula which enlightens us all to the ubiquitous mystical magic of how music works. Or it's a cupcake. Your choice. 😆 🤣 😂 Happy Holidays to you and yours, my brother Stich. I've improved my playing through a lot of great players on TH-cam during the last year, but none more than you. You are the Jedi Master Yoda of lead guitar.
Thanks for setting up a great start to the New Year. I’ve been learning guitar for a few years now and looking forward to actually playing guitar. It’s taken me a while to gain skills to play guitar. Thanks 🎉
Great song to start conveying this approach. Straightforward but still plenty of room. Looking forward to you applying on top of some jam band progressions
Thanks for this Christmas gift, Ian! 🎄 I’m just starting to get my chops back following shoulder surgery in September. This is a fantastic progression and set of ideas to practice over. Happy holidays! 🎸
This video has brought me so much fun! After jamming to this the woman is like "wow! you got good". This video has made 2 years of practicing just click.
I finally have a handle on improvising over this in a “convincing” way. I’m sure about the whole E=MC^2 or the whole cupcake thing, but you can call your lessons anything you like. I just call them effective.b keep them coming. Maybe something on improvising over a groove like the chord progression in “Whipping Post.”
quick question. I am an average rhythm guitar playing, wanting to start my journey into lead guitar. I am very interested in this new MMF you are starting, but wanted to know where should I start my learning process with your videos? Should I have any prior experience before I start watching these MMF videos, or what do you recommend I start with before watching the MMF videos?.... CAGED? SCALES? PENTATONICS?......Thank you so much for your time. I am actually going to donate to your channel now!
Caged, scales, pentatonics and my music theory video is all you will need, but I will be making individual videos about how those all relate to the MMF
is there a video or videos you recommend I start with now, while I wait to fit in before watching MMF? Sorry, I'm a pest...lol I won't bother you once I get going, I promise :) @@StichMethodGuitar
Have a PRS custom 24. Love it. Recently came across an older Fender M80 amp. I just use it for the clean channel. Don’t have anything better. I’m looking to craft a better tone for solos. Upgrade the pickups? Experiment with pedals? Or is it going to take a new amp?
Amps are at least as important as guitars, and way more important than pickups or pedals! Depends on your budget, but just about any decent tube amp will work, and good ones can be had for under $500 used.
Leave your guitar stock, it’s fine and honestly you won’t notice much difference in pickups. If your at your computer invest in a focusrite solo interface and purchase Scuffham s-gear amp sim. Perfect practice rig.
As we have that C chord it looks like a D7. But where does the F come from, the D7 has a F sharp? The scale looks like a D dorian ...and that's where my knowledge about modes and their practical application ends :D
Amazing!!!!! Thank you. To answer your question, my next video will be about another broad application of it, and then videos to follow will be about putting it perspective. Learning how each piece works and what you need to know. Did that make sense?
you are so very welcome and well deserved. Sorry, I kind of posted separate questions as I was wondering if I need any prior experience with Caged, Pentatonics, or Scales before I start watching the MMF videos? I want to start my journey into lead playing as I only play rhythm, but I never know what to begin with. I am going to stay here with your channel and begin this journey and respect whatever you suggest on where I should start learning :) @@StichMethodGuitar
Hey Ian can you clarify something . . . . You said the chord progression consists of power chords, and I can see from your fingers that you’re playing the root and the fifth of each chord. But the text overlay is showing D4 D1 C1 G1 F1 D4, etc. Wouldn’t it actually be D5 D5 C5 G5 F5 D5, etc.?
What I think is interesting is to observe how much better Stitch's own solos are in these later videos. I wonder if he's significantly progressing as a guitarist himself or if he's just more comfortable on camera now.
It’s weird you mention this…. I (all of a sudden) recently started to feel more “musical”, “attached”, “freer”. I don’t know if it’s my new SG, or just a culmination of things, but I kinda noticed it too? Not like “oh, I’m getting better”, but more like, “playing now feels deeper, more joyful”. Anyway, thanks for noticing👍
Hi Ian, so Ive joined your patron monthly subscription 🙂 But I can create an account on your page to access all the recourses that Im subscribed for.....?????? and can't for my life find an email address so we can sort privately ....hoipe to hear back from you man btw great teaching :-) Just my style to be educated a lot more....

I heard Jeff Beck and SRV do this at the Garden years ago. Now I understand. Thanks. Merry Christmas.

I'm really digging your channel lately! I finally understand, with full confidence, how the cage system works; thanks to you!💪
Happy holidays Stitch, you're the man.
Thanks for your efforts, perspectives and insights. Merry Christmas
Happy Holidays Stitch n family Really enjoy your lessons here in Chicago.. Thanks for sharing....

I just stopped by to admire that SG,not in a learning mood today, but appreciate you.

Thanks stitch. I like this formula to master a song but still make it my own.
Have a great one, Ian and family!
Loves the colour on that guitar
I wish you A Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year. Thanks for the good lesson. Cheers from Indonesia.
Hey Stitch!

Looking good man. Great video.

I would do my Caged Primer Playlist and then the free Masterclass at the end. And my music theory video. That is an excellent start
I had to break the lesson up between cupcake breaks, I am stuffed....lol..love it!!

Yes indeed Kevin! I really was just showing the root note in my mind. Good catch as always!
@@StichMethodGuitar The numbers seem more like how many beats each chord is being played.
I like to cut the bottom of the cake and put it on top of the icing.
Save time and just flip the cake over.
