in chinese, there is a phrase '擅書者不擇筆', that means if a person is good at calligraphy, whatever his brush is good or not , he can write beautiful words

It only happens when that person is well aware of the brush they use.

soft edges, subtle fades and brush strokes are the perks of soft brushes like chinese brushes and squirrel watercolor brushes because they carry lots of water compared to a sable watercolor brush.. sable brush is not meant for this style of watercolor painting, that is why when you do brush strokes with sable.. it tends to do hard edges because it didnt dry evenly..

The Chinese brush left a far better flower, had better paint and water distribution and didn’t make those ugly watermarks that I really dislike about loose botanicals. I get that other people really love that look, but I’m just not one of them. Hard edges and cauliflowers drive me crazy. Beautiful painting, wish it had all been done using the calligraphy brush.

If you learn other ways to take the chinese brush and use it with ink or a more liquid watercolor you can obtain better results... you can look for Nan Rae or other japanese and chinese artist to see all chinese brush potencial, chinese brushes have different hair and form, the one on the video its not the best for petals.. I use it for some details or small things and a bigger one with other hair combination for flowers or big leaves, chinese brush retain a lot of paint or ink you can pain a lot without refill it. Some artist take the chinese brush vertical (perpendicularly) to the paper with a thumb and the index and middle finger, to rotate the brush on diferent directions

Well - I don'T even know anything about chinese calligraphy, but it looks like, that the Chinese calligraphy brushes are just meant to be softer, while watercolor brushes are also a little bit more .... pointy? So they are perfect for the techniques they're made for.

Since I haven't seen anyone reply, I can't tell you exactly the brand name but can tell you some point so you can go and find your suitable brush.
The Chinese:the good one mostly made by natural hair (Northern Chinese weasel / horse/ goat/ rabbit) and handmade bamboo handle.
The normal: I think that was synthetic or a mixture of natural and synthetic hair. I highly recommend you choose the mixture one since it have many benefits from both hair
If you reading, I hope you know the most important thing about painting is getting to know your brush well. One brush have many unique characters, get to use and love them!

Disappointing video. Almost no demo of the Chinese brush. You can’t paint leaves with a Chinese brush I guess.
He obvious doesn’t like the Chinese brush. As soon as he picked up the other brush he never put it down .
