If it’s a runner, a steal at $1500. If the engine isn’t locked, still not bad!

We used to buy these things alot back when I was still in the salvage business the engines were worth a pretty good chunk of change and we always sold all the sheet metal and interior stuff off them. Never did figure out why they called them the Trooper 2...never seen a Trooper 1 and they still called the 4 door ones Trooper 2s

I had one of these. Didn’t look that good 😂. It was a blast to drive. My wife and I would push over dead trees on our property with it. Nothing could hurt it

Late to comment, but I think $1500 is a fair price. I was expecting a totally roached out interior, but it looks to be nicely taken care of! And hardly any serious rust to boot! I hope it gets *SOLD*!!! It looks like it'll fit in on set of Stranger Things Season Four!!!

oh hey I took most of that truck's interior. someone cared a lot about it at one point judging by how good of condition most of the stuff was in. Those under dash covers are decently hard to find.

My best friend had a 86 back in mid nineties. It had a lot problems. The electrical system and rusting.

There's one over to The Spot right now too. Not as nice as that one though.
I would run one for a winter beater. Some of them have the same engine/trans as an S10 would.

I have an 86 4 door. These things are highly aerodynamic. Mine would outperform Corvettes in many ways. Lo speed high drag and you can feel the cornering and braking abilities. Tires stick to many surfaces. Young cute girls say "OMG its so ugly it is cute" and axe me what it is. Tell em it is too sexy for them to even know.

I know what Benny is getting at. Those Japanese interiors had a distinct smell due to the materials that they used. Not a bad smell, just very distinct.

Whoa Nelley, it's a Trooper, and it's a hooper (hooptie).
Nah, was never a fan of these. Weird, not much power, tinny, cheap> Take the worst quality Nissan (which was most of them during this era) and cheapen it, and you have this thing. But, some like them I guess. Later on Isuzu and Subaru would partner up with making vehicles. That's like mixing mud and dirt. At the end of the day, you've still got a mess. Give me a Toyota over all of them any day.
We got the VIN, we win: JAA for Japan made Isuzu truck, C for 4,001 to 5,000# GVWR rating, H for van style body, 4x4, 1 for truck, 5 for two door, L for 2.3L four cylinder "LZD1" single overhead cam with two barrel carburetor, 6 is a check digit, G for the 1986 model year, 5 for Fujisawa Japan assembly and the rest is the production sequence. Should be code 860 Dark Beige exterior paint.
Yes, that's National Carburetor, located at 2461 Rolac Road in Jacksonville, FL. They were established in 1998 and are still around today. A lot of those carburetors are rebuilt in "pieces" in that the parts books for them have the gasket kits separated out. That should be a Hitachi two barrel.
A quick funny story. In 2006, when Google Groups was popular, I posted on that group that I had parts microfiche for sale for Isuzu (among other brands of vehicles). Just two weeks ago, a guy e-mailed me referencing that post from 16 years ago and wondered if "you still have a set for 88-92 Pickups". Indeed I did and he bought them on the spot. Talk about vintage.....
Whoa Nelley, it's a Trooper and it ain't worth a pooper. Made in Japan and ready for the trash can. The Google Man isn't a fan, and it's soon to maybe become a soda can. 2.3 and it might be over for thee. Carburetor by Hitachi, it looks like a worn-out hibachi. That's it, time to quit. A Toyota it's not, and it ain't worth snot. 4x4 and maybe soon will be out the door. It might get squished and no one is really all that pissed.

I don't know... Once upon a time, I was in the market for an oddball vehicle, and a Trooper 2 fit the bill. But the owner thought he was going to get Jeep Cherokee money for a high mileage rusty stump puller. Lol!

😄 ive made videos of vans before. Heck I have a whole playlist dedicated to them. Now I normally wouldn't make a video on an Astro van but that thing had some stuff on it that might be interesting to share. Probably the last time youd see one on the channel unless maybe it was swapped with a big block Chevy or an LS 😄. I thought the Isuzu was kinda neat. The 80s are now a thing a guess with classics. But yea its been slim pickins when it comes to anything from the 70s and earlier in tue yards.

@@ClassicRideSociety Oddballs make the world go round. One time my coworker rescued a mother cat and four kittens in the shop. Three were ginger cats, one was black and white. I called the black and white one oddball. He was the most animated of the bunch and was the first to get adopted. Why? He was different.

    • @googleusergp

True, but this was mostly all Isuzu, even though GM owned a piece of them at the time and rebadged their product (such as the I-Mark being the Spectrum for Chevrolet).
