    How many revolutions to get it to line up? I’ve been spinning the crank for a while with no luck

    Thanks for this. I was thinking my timing was off but it looks just like this one, bad cam phaser for me it seems.

    Never underestimate yourself, if you can understand that accent, then you can do anything.

    Why do the gold links matter. Is it because the communicate with cam sensors

    • @rickyknudsen77
      @rickyknudsen77 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the gold links don't lign up your off somewhere on timing. Try to start and bend the valves.

      Technically in theory if your timing is set right, it doesn't matter how the chain is installed and where the gold links end up at. It's alot easier to spot the gold links vs the dots on the cam gears, so it's recommended to line all 3 marks and this way you know everything is in check

    How many rotations before the dots align? This means you do not make the chain right?

    only use ford motor craft engine parts especially timing chain i learned the hard way had premature timing chain failure at 10k miles replaced chain while doing water mump and i bought a cheap chain and my engine blew when the cheap chain snapped

    What if I reuse out chain and just mark before I take off same steps?

    I have a 2011 ford flex and it started to fail, when I make a stop the engine starts to shake and they said I had to change timing chain.
    Some days it pulls well and other days the engine shakes and you would like to know if that was the problem of the one you are repairing?

    Those are the cheapest looking off-brand parts I've ever seen. If you're going to be doing internal engine repairs you might as well use OEM Motorcraft parts.

      ya gl finding motocraft chains. waterpump for 100 tho

      You mean the ones that leak coolant into the oil before the engine hits 100k? I’ve got a better idea: don’t buy Ford’s. The older ones are ok, but new Ford’s are garbage.

    • @colinj5291

      @@nouseforaname6333 Mine failed at 115K which is not surprising for any vehicle. Other than that, zero issues. I would say it's the opposite. Ford' s quality is leaps and bounds over anything they made 25-30 years ago. Also, there are many other manufacturers that use V6 engines with internally driven water pumps. I don't why this design exists, other than to save space.
